Vancouver is one of Canada’s great lunch cities — a place where a midday meal can be as considered and memorable as any dinner. From MICHELIN-recognised waterfront dining rooms in Coal Harbour to neighbourhood gems on Commercial Drive, the best lunch restaurants in Vancouver span an extraordinary range of cuisines, settings, and occasions.

Whether it’s a two-course set lunch in the Fairmont Pacific Rim, a flame-seared sushi platter overlooking the harbour, a Persian-inspired spread in Kitsilano, or a relaxed Latin table on the Drive, Vancouver’s lunch scene rewards those who make the most of the midday hour. The city’s diverse communities, strong Pacific Northwest ingredient culture, and year-round appetite for quality dining make it one of the most compelling dining destinations in the country.

Book your table at one of the best lunch restaurants in Vancouver instantly on OpenTable.

What the experts day:

“Sit-down lunch hasn’t always been an easy thing to find in Vancouver, but certain restaurants are doing it well. From no-bells Mexican food and bold, flavourful Greek to high-end sushi and worth-the-wait Vietnamese, there’s something for all palates, and hunger levels.“ — Sara Harowitz is a journalist and consultant based in Vancouver. Farm-to-table
Coal Harbour

Botanist is one of Vancouver’s most celebrated dining destinations — a MICHELIN Guide-recommended restaurant within the Fairmont Pacific Rim in Coal Harbour that brings a deeply rooted Pacific Northwest philosophy to every plate. Helmed by Executive Chef Hector Laguna, the kitchen draws on organically farmed produce, sustainably sourced seafood, and the fertile terroir of British Columbia to create dishes that are as visually arresting as they are flavourful. Lunch at Botanist offers two distinct formats: the City Set, a thoughtfully composed two-course menu — starter and main, or main and dessert — designed to suit the rhythm of the working day; and a broader à la carte lunch menu featuring standout dishes such as the caesar salad with white anchovies and smoked salmon roe, and a beef burger with full moon valley cheese and herb fries. The Glass Garden dining room, abundant with living plants and natural light, makes Botanist as beautiful a lunch setting as any in the city.

Mexican
Gastown

La Casita Gastown brings the warmth and conviviality of Mexican cooking to the heart of one of Vancouver’s most storied neighbourhoods, and its all-in-one lunch offer is one of the city’s most generous midday deals. The concept is refreshingly simple: a complete lunch — drink, meal, and dessert — for one inclusive price, removing the friction of decision-making and replacing it with the pleasure of eating well without any fuss. Drinks span the classics from coffee and tea to soft drinks and lemonade, while dessert arrives in the form of vanilla ice cream with Abuelita Mexican chocolate sprinkles — a deeply comforting close to the meal. Set against Gastown’s cobblestoned, heritage-building character, La Casita delivers the kind of colourful, flavour-forward Mexican cooking that makes lunch feel genuinely celebratory. It’s an accessible, welcoming spot that has made itself a dependable fixture of the neighbourhood’s dining landscape, and an easy answer for the best lunch in Gastown.

Coal Harbour

Miku is the flagship of Vancouver’s Aburi restaurant group and one of the city’s most iconic dining destinations — a MICHELIN Guide Selection that introduced flame-seared aburi sushi to Vancouver in 2008 and has been setting the standard ever since. Situated at Granville Square on the Coal Harbour waterfront, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the harbour and the mountains beyond, Miku offers a lunch experience that is as visually spectacular as it is culinarily impressive. Executive chef Kazuhiro Hayashi leads a kitchen that fuses traditional Japanese technique with West Coast ingredients, with a particular emphasis on Ocean Wise-certified sustainable seafood. Lunchtime highlights include the celebrated aburi salmon oshi sushi with wild sockeye and jalapeño, a premium chef’s selection lunch featuring nigiri and maki alongside seasonal starters, and house-made desserts such as the green tea opera cake — layers of matcha sponge, azuki bean cream, and dark chocolate ganache. Few lunch tables in Vancouver offer this combination of craft and setting.

Burnaby

Birdies Eats + Drinks is Burnaby’s standout lunch destination — a spirited, American-inspired dining room that delivers generous, flavour-forward comfort food in a relaxed and genuinely welcoming atmosphere. The kitchen leans into satisfying, crowd-pleasing cooking without sacrificing quality, producing the kind of midday meals that send people back to their afternoon with a spring in their step rather than a lingering sense of regret. The room has a neighbourhood ease that makes it feel like a natural gathering point, and the service matches that energy with warmth and efficiency. For those exploring the best lunch restaurants in Greater Vancouver beyond the inner city, Birdies represents exactly the kind of independently spirited spot that gives a community its character. Whether it’s a quick solo lunch at the bar or a longer table with colleagues, Birdies accommodates both with the same unhurried confidence — a worthy lunchtime destination in its own right.

Our waiter was right on time. He was attentive and provided us with our every need. My guests were all very pleased with their meals. Birdies is the best of all the chain type restaurants attached to the "Earls Group".

North Vancouver

PIER 7 is one of North Vancouver’s most celebrated dining destinations, built on the boardwalk of the historic Victory Shipyards in the revitalized Lower Lonsdale waterfront and offering 180-degree views of Vancouver’s skyline, Stanley Park’s green belt, and the bustling harbour beyond. Under executive chef Dino Renaerts, the kitchen takes a boat-to-table approach to seafood, with Ocean Wise-certified sustainable fish and shellfish anchoring a menu that also draws on seasonal West Coast produce and carefully sourced meat and poultry. Lunch standouts include the New England clam chowder, grilled West Coast salmon, fresh shucked oysters, and the seafood plateau — a Pier 7 signature that showcases the kitchen’s confidence with premium ingredients. The two-level indoor and patio dining, combined with the easy SeaBus connection from downtown, makes this one of the most accessible and rewarding lunch escapes in Greater Vancouver.

I went to Pier 7 just celebrating a milestone with my new job, and the staff was amazing! They gave us champagne and a desert on the house, and our waitress was so sweet, I don’t think I caught her name unfortunately. They sat us right by the water and it was such a lovely evening! Highly recommend ☺️

French American
West End

Maxine’s Cafe & Bar brings a warm, Franco-American sensibility to Vancouver’s West End — a neighbourhood that has long supported a distinctly neighbourhood-scale dining culture — with a lunch menu that balances French bistro influence with the relaxed confidence of a beloved local café. The room is intimate and characterful, with the lived-in warmth of a place that has become genuinely embedded in its community, and the service has the easy familiarity of a spot that sees a lot of the same faces returning week after week. Lunch here leans into well-made classics and creative café fare, with an emphasis on quality ingredients and the kind of cooking that prioritises pleasure over pretension. The West End’s proximity to English Bay, Davie Village, and Stanley Park means that Maxine’s is as well-placed for a post-walk lunch as it is for a midday gathering with friends. It’s the kind of neighbourhood cafe-bar that any city neighbourhood would be lucky to have, and the West End is right to be fond of it.

Everything was great for my mom's birthday! We requested a quiet area, and the staff was very considerate about this (even asked if we wanted the music turned off). Sarah was a great server and our food came out really fast. It was also very delicious!!!

Yaletown

The Greek by Anatoli brings the sun-drenched flavours of Greek cuisine to the heart of Yaletown, offering a lunch experience that is as generous and convivial as the Mediterranean table it draws inspiration from. The kitchen is built around the classics of Greek cooking — fresh seafood, grilled meats, vibrant dips and spreads, and the kind of produce-led simplicity that makes Greek food so enduringly satisfying — elevated with a confident contemporary sensibility that suits the polished Yaletown setting. The room is bright and animated, with the easy hospitality that defines great Greek dining, and the service reflects that same warmth and generosity. Lunch here leans comfortably into sharing: a spread of mezze, a main, and a glass of something Greek or local from the wine list makes for a midday meal that leaves guests wanting to linger rather than rush back to their desks. Sing Sing is one of Commercial Drive’s most energetic and enjoyable lunch spots — a pizza bar concept from the Free House group that brings a genuinely fun, neighbourhood-pub approach to midday dining on one of Vancouver’s most characterful streets. The kitchen produces confident, well-crafted pizza alongside a selection of plates and bar snacks that suit the setting perfectly: casual, shareable, and designed for a meal that doesn’t take itself too seriously while still delivering real quality. The room has the comfortable, low-key energy of a spot that has quickly found its place in the Drive’s dining ecosystem, and the service is warm and unpretentious. It’s an accessible and dependable addition to Commercial Drive’s lunch options, and a welcome one.
