Vancouver is one of Canada’s most dog-loving cities — and its restaurant scene is catching up fast. From the cobblestone lanes of Gastown to the waterfront terraces of Yaletown and Coal Harbour, more and more of the city’s best dining spots are rolling out the welcome mat for four-legged guests. Some go far beyond a water bowl on the patio railing — think dedicated VIPaw dog menus with steamed sablefish and wagyu beef, doggy pupsicles, and bone-broth pawgaritas. Others simply offer a leash-friendly table and a genuinely welcoming team. Whatever the occasion — a post-seawall brunch, a Friday happy hour with the pup in tow, or a full birthday dinner with the whole pack — finding the best dog-friendly restaurants in Vancouver has never been easier. Browse the full list of dog-welcoming restaurants below: the leash is on — now pick a seat.

Ready to find the perfect dog-friendly patio in Vancouver? Explore Vancouver’s best dog-friendly restaurants and book your table instantly on OpenTable — four-legged guests very welcome.

“Vancouver has always been a dog city, and that means there are plenty of restaurants and bars that let you bring your pup to their patios. From quiet Westside haunts to picturesque waterfront locales, these spots are fun for the whole (four-legged) family.“ — Sara Harowitz is a journalist and consultant based in Vancouver. Rotisserie Chicken
Yaletown

Walk past Homer Street Cafe & Bar on a warm evening and the smell alone is enough to change your plans. Set in the historic Homer Building in Yaletown, this MICHELIN-recommended restaurant has built its reputation on a fire engine-red rotisserie that turns out juicy, responsibly raised chicken in quarter, half, and whole portions — basted in jus, accompanied by proper comfort sides. The open-concept chef’s bar lets diners watch the culinary team at work, while cosy booths under antique tiling make the dining room one of Yaletown’s most characterful rooms. Come summer, the patio spills onto the street and leashed dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables — a well-earned reward for anyone who has walked their pup along the seawall before dinner. Beyond the chicken, the menu covers everything from freshly shucked oysters and baby back ribs to a cinnamon bun cheesecake that regulars refuse to skip. The cocktail and wine list is bolder than the comfort-food premise might suggest.

Awesome. Keith (Grapes) even more awesome. Fabulous sommelier, so-so hockey player. This place is exceptionally consistently good

Yaletown

Provence Marinaside is the definitive Yaletown waterfront institution — and its False Creek marina patio, where water bowls are set outside the railing for visiting dogs, is one of the most sought-after outdoor tables in the neighbourhood. The restaurant is built around the flavours of the South of France meeting the best of Pacific seafood. The raw bar is the natural starting point — oysters, fresh crab, chilled prawns — followed by classic bouillabaisse, crab and shrimp cakes, and a mussels-and-escargot spread that earns its own following. An award-winning wine programme of over 100 wines by the glass and an extensive reserve list pairs with every course. On a sunny afternoon, with the marina at eye level and a dog at your feet, Provence Marinaside is close to perfect.

Thank you for the East Coast feature. The food was great. The drinks were lovely, and so were the top ups! It was great to gather with fellow Bluenosers and enjoy the food from home! I look forward to possibly another East Coast event featuring perhaps a different winery! Thank so much!

French
Coal Harbour

A well-behaved dog on the heated patio, a glass of something cold from the French list, and the rest of the evening open — Tableau Bar Bistro has been a fixture in Coal Harbour since 2008 — the kind of neighbourhood bistro that a neighbourhood actually deserves: warm, consistent, and French. The heated and shaded dog-friendly patio is specifically what Tableau itself leads with when it describes the outdoor experience, and it earns that confidence. Just minutes from the waterfront and major Coal Harbour hotels, the bistro’s contemporary French menu spans breakfast through late dinner without missing a beat: steak frites, duck confit, seasonal seafood, and weekend brunch alongside a dynamic bar scene serving seasonal cocktails and a wine list built from France and BC. Two private dining rooms make it equally suited to group celebrations, and the daily happy hour draws a reliably convivial after-work crowd.

Comfort Food
Richmond

When The Story Cafe team discovered an old Richmond warehouse in 2018, they saw a canvas for something distinctive — a warm, hospitable café that blends a love of coffee, live music, comfort food, and antique aesthetics into a mélange of vintage and nostalgia that has made it a Richmond community institution. Dogs are welcome on the climate-controlled outdoor patio for the full experience: morning coffee and fresh-baked pastries, a casual dinner, or a late-night live performance from one of the local acts that take the stage regularly. The climate-controlled patio setup means the experience holds up year-round, not just in the height of summer.

False Creek

Bae Side Co. arrived at Stamps Landing on the south shore of False Creek with a view that stops conversations and a Bohemian-inspired energy that keeps them going. The open-sky waterfront patio looks directly across to Yaletown and the downtown skyline, with the North Shore mountains as a backdrop that shifts colour through the evening. Dogs are welcome on the patio — which, combined with the Aquabus stop just steps below, makes Bae Side an exceptionally easy destination for a post-walk meal or a summer afternoon with no particular agenda. The globe-spanning menu is built for long, shared meals: hamachi crudo with citrus and herbs, Pacific poke bowls, urfa kebabs, smash burger sliders, and a full bar pouring zero-proof cocktails alongside the classics. Live music runs several nights a week. The concept is slated to run through fall 2026 before the site transforms — which makes this summer precisely the right time to discover it.

We had a big group and our servier was able to handle it. They were attentive to our needs. There was a great selection of cocktails, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic as well as food. Everyone enjoyed their dinner.

Italian
Yaletown

Tucked below the dramatic Granville Street bridge at the base of the sculptural Vancouver House building, Autostrada Osteria has become one of the city’s most beloved Italian dining destinations. The flagship Autostrada brand — taking its name from the Italian highways that connect people and places — delivers handmade pastas, seasonal Italian dishes, and warm osteria hospitality in a room anchored by a spinning chandelier and an open kitchen that guests find genuinely theatrical. Five outdoor patio tables welcome dogs, making this one of the more intimate dog-friendly dining options in the city — a spot where a table for two (plus one on a lead) feels properly considered rather than a compromise. The alla famiglia sharing menu showcases standout and seasonal dishes across starters, pastas, mains, and desserts and requires the whole table to participate. Braised lamb agnolotti, scallop risotto, anchovy toast, and fresh oysters are among the signature plates that keep regulars loyal.

Chinatown

MICHELIN Bib Gourmand and a small pop-up patio on a Chinatown laneway that has become one of the most talked-about summer seats in the city — Fiorino is a must-visit in Vancouver. The restaurant pays homage to Florentine street food culture: schiacciata sandwiches at lunch, a negroni-forward aperitivo programme at happy hour, family-style sharing plates at dinner built around coccoli e prosciutto, arancini, and vegetable-forward plates alongside the evening negroni list. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor seating area — casual, convivial, and completely Italian in spirit. Wine comes by the ounce from the carafe, which is exactly how it should work. For anyone who hasn’t been, this is a genuinely essential Vancouver dining experience.

Okini is one of Vancouver’s most charming neighbourhood restaurants, and one of its most dog-dedicated. There’s a dedicated VIPaw menu for their covered, heated atrium patio: a rotating selection of canine-friendly dishes made with whole-food ingredients, including steamed sablefish with baby carrots and AAA Canadian beef with confit potatoes, alongside drinks like the pawgarita (chilled bone broth with a milk bone rim) and the pawtini (whipped cream and beef liver dust). The patio is available year-round. For the humans at the table, chef Kevin Lin’s West Coast Japanese menu is equally carefully considered — salmon soba, A5 miyazaki Wagyu tenderloin bento, truffle yakiudon, gindara saikyoyaki, and Wagyu tantanmen are among the dishes that have made Okini a very special restaurant for a very special occasion — two-legged and four-legged alike.

Food was very innovative and beautifully presented. It was excellent with a wonderful combination of flavours. Service by Eric was outstanding. And, as each dish was presented at the table, the server would explain the features of the dish. My first time there and it's definitely worth a return trip!

From the team behind Nook and Oddfish, Radish does something very simple: great casual food, all day, with a genuinely welcoming atmosphere and a covered heated patio that welcomes dogs year-round — rain or shine, which in Vancouver is not a minor consideration. The menu shifts through the day from egg dishes, salads, sandwiches, and bowls at lunch to a full dinner menu of pastas, pizzas, meat dishes, and shareable vegetable plates in the evening, with craft cocktails and a carefully chosen wine list to match. A Bard on the Beach ticket discount makes it a natural pre-theatre dinner spot in summer. The atmosphere is warm, the service is attentive, and the covered patio means the dog is a regular, not just a fair-weather guest.

Gastown

Rogue Kitchen & Wetbar has planted itself in a heritage railway building at the western edge of Gastown — all sand-blasted brick, worn hardwood floors, and crazy-tall light fixtures that glow against the historic bones of the space. The patio welcomes dogs alongside their humans, making it a natural stop for anyone exploring Gastown or walking the waterfront seawall nearby. The kitchen takes a playful, unpretentious approach: a medium-rare fresh burger that Rogue argues is the juiciest in town, brisket tacos with real kick, cauliflower tacos that earn respect even from non-vegetarians, panko brisket risotto balls with truffle aioli, and Brussels sprouts that open every table’s appetite. A full wet bar pours 20-plus taps from local and international craft brewers. Happy hour draws a reliably lively pre-game crowd heading to Rogers Arena or BC Place.

Coal Harbour

LIFT offers the most spectacular dog-friendly table in Vancouver. The rooftop deck above the Coal Harbour seawall offers sweeping views across the harbour to Stanley Park and the North Shore mountains, and leashed dogs are welcome to join their owners up there for the full experience. It’s a setting that earns superlatives: LIFT claims the only oceanfront rooftop deck in the city, and the view from that deck — particularly at golden hour — is hard to argue with. The kitchen delivers a polished Pacific Northwest menu centred on regionally sourced ingredients and the bounty of the Pacific Ocean: fresh oysters, halibut, prime steaks, and a raw bar for lighter appetites, backed by an award-winning wine list spotlighting BC and Pacific Northwest producers. Floor-to-ceiling windows retract fully in summer; outdoor fire features extend the season. For a dog-friendly dinner that feels like a genuine occasion, LIFT is the one.
