What a fun night. Just me and my daughter. 7pm on a Wednesday in October. Place was buzzing. Food and service were great. Really liked the option to go larger on the steaks at a clearly defined price. We’d definitely go back.

Enjoyed the experience despite receiving disturbing news via a phone call to the pub from a friend to say they wouldn’t be coming because one of them had had a serious fall.

Wow! What a lovely place to eat at! Everything, from the warm welcome when we arrived at midday from Fernando, the warmer place by the real log fire and especially the friendly attention from the Alekh, made our visit even more special. And we haven’t got to the food yet! I ordered whitebait, and very delicious in a sort of spicy breadcrumb coating. Followed by the rump beef roast plus, for me, a glass of Portugese red - a wine I would not usually have chosen……Fernando told us he is from Portugal. Not that he pushed it, I just thought if he was stocking it, it must be a good one, it was. The beef was outstanding. We were not going to choose a dessert, but my wanted a hot drink and they came with one. So I chose the Baron Bigod parfait. Having told them our son in Australia was paying as a gift for our 50th anniversary plus my 80th birthday, they also brought out celebratory ice cream and chocolate brownie “on the house”! What a wondrous lunch we had…….we will definitely return!

Outstanding service and manager. From the point when we arrived to when we left the friendly staff were very welcoming. Exceptional food and wine options.
