"I had low expectations of the Market Porter as I know it's a really busy drinking pub and it was one of the only places I could get a table for us at the last minute - never a great sign. However, once you battle through the bar and head up to the restaurant area, the vibe is very different and it actually feels quite cosy. The staff were very friendly and efficient and the food was really great. I had the sea bass, and my friends had the chicken Kiev and we both thoroughly enjoyed them. So much so that I'm going back there this weekend. £15 for a perfectly cooked sea bass can't be bad."See more

"My friend and I booked here for a post-Christmas catch-up lunch - she had eaten here before, but I hadn't. Guiseppe's is underground, smallish and dark and located down an alley off Borough High Street. Probably not somewhere you'd stumble across, which might explain why there were so few customers. It's a nice enough place, but not necessarily somewhere to go if you're after a trendy venue with a bar that serves cocktails (because they don't). So instead we decided to spend our money on a better bottle of wine. As it happens the wine we chose was out of stock, but the manager brought us a more expensive replacement at no extra cost and it was delicious. The portion sizes are generous, and the tagliatelle with salmon that I had was very tasty. My friend couldn't finish her spaghetti 'Shard' as there was too much, but we did, of course, manage puddings! The manager gave us complimentary limoncellos which was a lovely touch."See more

"Applebees has been my wife and I go to fish restraunt for over a decade now, the food is always cooked simply with not to much chef messing about! The ingredients are fresh and served in a pleasing manner to the eye, The front of house staff are very well conversed with their menu and are easily able to advise and guide as required. There is quite a selection of good wines to compliment the fish (or even the sweet after if you have the space) Being right in the heart of borough market you cant go wrong with the live atmosphere and produce well worth a visit."See more
