The brunch game in Los Angeles is strong—and worth rolling out of bed for, even on the weekends. In a city where the farmers market is a year-round institution and the produce rivals the best in the world, the best brunch in Los Angeles is built on pure creativity and a bounty of seasonal riches. From Venice’s laid-back cafés to the grand brasserie interiors of Hollywood and the coastal energy of the South Bay, the best brunch restaurants in Los Angeles span every neighborhood and every mood.

Whether the search is for a plant-forward feast steps from the beach, a French bistro that could have been airlifted from Paris, or a California farmhouse dining room in the heart of downtown, the best brunch spots in Los Angeles deliver. The best brunch places in Los Angeles are already filling up — so now is the time to find a favorite and secure a table.

What the experts say:

“In a city that’s pretty sure it invented the very notion of brunch, our mid-morning and early-afternoon breakfast feasts remain a very big deal. Whether it’s a Paris-perfect croissant or some chilaquiles you desire, these brunch havens have you covered.” —Hadley Tomicki, co-creator and managing editor of L.A. TACO and LA food, nightlife, and culture writer for over 20 years, including former LA editor of New York Magazine’s Grub Street LA and UrbanDaddy and contributor to The Los Angeles Times, LA Magazine, and LA Weekly, among other publications

“While it’s tempting to credit the wellness culture and ridiculously perfect produce for LA’s dominant brunch scene, the backbone is really the city’s exceptional bakers and the exquisite bread and pastries they turn out every morning.” —Hillary Dixler Canavan, LA-based editor and special projects manager, publisher of the bestselling Substack newsletter What Are We Having?, and former restaurant editor of Eater

Café
Downtown

Cafe Fig brings a warm, all-day café sensibility to Downtown Los Angeles, operating out of the Fig & Olive-adjacent stretch of the city and delivering a brunch that is elegant without being effortful. The café’s setting — polished but approachable, with the kind of natural light that makes everything look better — draws a mix of hotel guests, downtown professionals, and weekend explorers looking for a reliable, quality-driven meal in a neighborhood that continues to evolve as a dining destination. The menu covers the café brunch canon with genuine care: beautifully executed egg dishes, house-baked pastries that justify arriving early, avocado preparations given real thought, and a coffee program that treats the morning cup as seriously as the food. The service is warm and efficient, striking exactly the right balance for a downtown brunch crowd that ranges from leisurely to purposeful. For a dependable, sophisticated brunch in DTLA, Cafe Fig is a must-try.

A beautiful setting and a delicious breakfast with a business colleague. She had the veggie breakfast and I had the salmon eggs Benedict. I thoroughly enjoyed the rose lavender latte in addition to the food. Service was excellent.

Venice

Gjelina is a Venice institution and one of the most influential restaurants in Los Angeles — a wood-fired, vegetable-forward California dining room on Abbot Kinney Boulevard that has shaped the city’s approach to seasonal, ingredient-led cooking since it opened. Brunch here is an extension of a culinary philosophy that has never wavered: the best available produce, treated with technique and restraint, in a setting that perfectly captures the relaxed ambition of the Venice dining scene. The bi-level space, done up in reclaimed wood and warm materials, hums with a distinct Abbot Kinney energy on weekend mornings. Standout brunch dishes include the labneh on toast with grape jam and sea salt, wood-fired flatbreads topped with seasonal vegetables and excellent cheeses, and salads studded with burrata, honeynut squash, and whatever is exceptional at the farmers market that week. A great natural wine or a well-made cocktail completes the picture, Gjelina remains one of the best brunch spots in Los Angeles.

Hollywood

Republique is, by any measure, one of the great brunch restaurants in Los Angeles — a French-California grand café housed in a stunning 1920s landmark building on La Brea Avenue that was originally designed by Charlie Chaplin. Chefs Walter Manzke and Margarita Manzke have built a restaurant that honors the traditions of French baking and bistro cooking while embracing California’s seasonal abundance, and brunch here is the fullest expression of that vision. The soaring, light-filled dining room with its arched windows and warm terracotta tones is one of the most beautiful brunch settings in the city, and the queue that forms outside on weekend mornings is testament to how well the kitchen delivers. The pastry program — among the best in Los Angeles — turns out croissants, kouign-amann, and morning buns that draw devoted fans from across the city. Egg dishes, grain bowls, smoked salmon plates, and beautifully constructed sandwiches complete a brunch menu that is close to definitive. Republique is essential.

Sherman Oaks

Petit Trois Le Valley brings the legendary Petit Trois formula — unfussy, deeply satisfying French bistro cooking executed at the highest level — to Sherman Oaks, and the San Fernando Valley has embraced it completely. Chef Ludo Lefebvre’s love letter to the Parisian corner bistro translates effortlessly to a neighborhood setting, delivering a brunch menu built around the dishes that have made the original Petit Trois one of the most beloved restaurants in Los Angeles. The single omelette, cooked in clarified butter until it achieves that particular, impossible softness, is a benchmark. The croque monsieur, built on excellent ham and a proper béchamel, is one of the best in the city. Add a glass of champagne or a kir royale, settle into the compact, warm dining room, and the Valley suddenly feels like the best place in Los Angeles to spend a Sunday morning. For a French brunch that earns its reputation, Petit Trois Le Valley is the definitive San Fernando Valley destination.

Delicious food. Always order the omelette. And the raspberry pistachio white chocolate cake was so delicious. The staff is wonderful. Always a great treat.

Silver Lake

Bacari Silverlake brings the convivial spirit of a Venetian bacaro — the small wine bars of Venice, Italy, where cichetti (small bites) and excellent wine are the order of the day — to one of Los Angeles’s most characterful and culinary adventurous neighborhoods. The Silver Lake location channels all the warmth and informality of the original bacaro tradition while adding a California sensibility that keeps the menu rooted in the seasons and the best available local produce. Brunch at Bacari Silverlake means sharing plates of beautifully made Italian small bites alongside a well-chosen glass of Italian wine or a spritz assembled with genuine care — house-cured meats, wood-fired flatbreads, burrata with seasonal accompaniments, and egg dishes given an Italian inflection that elevates the familiar. The outdoor patio is one of the neighborhood’s great weekend perches. For an Italian-inflected brunch with real personality in Silver Lake, Bacari is an essential address.

Fabulous ambiance and the food is outstanding! Dined before a show at the Greek. The valet parking out front makes it a breeze too.

Steakhouse
Brentwood

Baltaire is Brentwood’s premier steakhouse, and its brunch brings the restaurant’s commitment to exceptional prime beef and polished, warm-weather California hospitality to the weekend morning hours in a way that makes it one of the most compelling upscale brunch destinations on the Westside. The beautiful outdoor terrace, canopied by mature trees and lit by California’s generous morning sun, is a genuinely special setting — relaxed and elegant in equal measure, with the kind of service that makes every guest feel like a regular. Brunch at Baltaire means steak and eggs executed with the kitchen’s characteristic attention to sourcing and technique, alongside a menu of elevated American classics that draw on the steakhouse pantry: house-made charcuterie, beautifully dressed salads, and egg preparations enriched by the quality ingredients that define the restaurant’s identity. The cocktail program is strong, and the wine list is exactly what a Brentwood morning calls for. Baltaire is one of the best brunch spots in Los Angeles for a special occasion — and it makes a compelling case for Mother’s Day 2026.

Flower District

Poppy + Rose is Downtown Los Angeles’s most heartfelt brunch destination — a Southern-inflected, farm-to-table American restaurant set in the heart of the city’s Flower District that has built one of the most loyal weekend followings in DTLA. Chef Michael Reed and his team source their ingredients with genuine dedication from the farmers who supply the market surrounding the restaurant, and the result is a brunch menu that changes with the seasons and always tastes exactly like California should. The fried chicken and waffles are the dish that most people come for first, and they are every bit as good as the reputation suggests — crispy, juicy, and served with a maple syrup that earns its place on the table. Beyond that anchor dish, the menu explores the full range of Southern American brunch cooking with warmth and skill: biscuits and gravy, shrimp and grits, and house-made pastries that reflect the surrounding flower market’s abundance.

Cara Cara at the Downtown LA Proper Hotel is one of the most stylish brunch addresses in Los Angeles — a destination dining room housed within Kelly Wearstler’s extraordinarily designed hotel that brings the same level of considered craft to the food as the building brings to its interiors. The restaurant’s setting is genuinely stunning: an Art Deco-inflected space with bold colors, hand-painted murals, and the kind of architectural detail that makes brunch feel like a genuine event. The menu is equally ambitious, drawing on Mediterranean and California influences to produce a brunch that is both visually beautiful and seriously satisfying — think beautifully plated egg dishes enriched with house-made condiments, fresh seafood preparations, and the kind of thoughtful vegetable cooking that reflects the hotel’s commitment to quality at every level. The cocktail program is excellent, and the service carries the warmth that the Proper Hotel brand has built its reputation on. For a special occasion brunch in Downtown Los Angeles, Cara Cara is the room to be in.

One of the best times I’ve had at a restaurant in a while! If I didn’t live across the country, this would be my go to spot.

Manuela is one of Downtown Los Angeles’s most beloved and distinctive restaurant experiences — a California farmhouse dining room set within the Hauser & Wirth gallery complex in the Arts District that brings a deeply considered approach to seasonal, wood-fired American cooking to one of the city’s most culturally rich addresses. Chef Kris Tominaga’s kitchen is guided by a genuine farm-to-table philosophy, with many ingredients sourced from the restaurant’s own on-site garden and from the network of California farmers who share the restaurant’s values. Brunch here reflects all of that: roasted and grilled vegetables given depth by the wood-fired hearth, egg dishes enriched with house-cured meats and garden herbs, beautifully made pastries, and the kind of seasonal fruit preparations that remind diners why California produce is the envy of the culinary world. The outdoor courtyard, surrounded by rotating art installations from the Hauser & Wirth program, makes brunch at Manuela a cultural and culinary experience in one — and one of the best in Los Angeles.

Manuela hit the mark, and I can't believe it took us this long to eat here. After visiting the art museum numerous times, we finally were able to dine at Manuela and everything was delicious! The drinks were so unique, but not too out there. The cornbread was hard to stop eating and I didn't want to get too full because the 18oz ribeye was still coming! The ribeye, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The okra was also divine. I would recommend this place to anyone, and I can't wait to come back.

Pasadena

Pasadena’s most charming brunch destination earns its place on any best brunch in Los Angeles list on the strength of both its kitchen and its one-of-a-kind concept. Founded by chefs Vanessa and Thomas Tilaka Kalb, Agnes is a modern American restaurant and working cheesery in one — and brunch is where that combination shines most compellingly. The menu is a masterclass in California comfort cooking: think sticky toffee pancakes with medjool dates, grits carbonara with prairie breeze cheddar, and a fried chicken sandwich hot-honey dipped with nam prik aioli. Before or after the meal, the cheesery at the entrance — stocked with artisan cheeses, cured meats, and seasonal accompaniments — makes Agnes a unique brunch experience. Warm, independent, and deeply rooted in the best of California’s producers and makers, Agnes is one of the best brunch restaurants in Los Angeles for anyone willing to make the drive to the San Gabriel Valley — and well worth the trip.
