My fiancé and I celebrated our fifth anniversary at Black Sage, and it was genuinely one of the most memorable dining experiences we've ever had.
I'll admit I was skeptical driving down an unpaved road into what felt like the middle of nowhere, but we arrived at the most beautiful, cozy outdoor dining area, complete with heaters, glass windows, and mountain views. It was perfect!
The food was phenomenal. We started with the beet and burrata, which was incredible. I ordered the Mineral Springs Smoked Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf, and my fiancé had the Mineral Springs Ragu. I don't know how they made meatloaf so tender, juicy, and almost silky, but they did! The ragu was equally impressive, with a rich, flavorful sauce that tasted like it had been lovingly prepared for hours. My only regret was not having enough room to try more!
Our server, Ben, made the experience even more special. He shared the stories behind their farm-to-table philosophy, explaining where ingredients were sourced, the local farms and growers they work with, and even how he personally grows some of the herbs used in their dishes. His passion was genuine and contagious.
For dessert, we enjoyed a delicious s'mores tart with an anniversary candle. Ben offered to take our picture, but what happened next brought tears to my eyes. He returned with a printed copy tucked into a card personally signed by the entire team, wishing us a happy anniversary.
That thoughtful gesture meant more than I can express.
Black Sage is a beautiful reminder that exceptional dining isn't just about delicious food. It's about the love, care, and people behind it. You can feel that in every detail.
Thank you, Ben, and the entire team for making our anniversary unforgettable. We would return in a heartbeat!
