The Elgin is a bar & restaurant serving upscale fare situated just south of Rockefeller Center & steps from Broadway & Times Square. Our goal is to provide sophisticated cocktails, a carefully curated craft & seasonal beer list, amazing food in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Please join us!
The Elgin’s 4 main principals, Peter Pernicone, Darwin Conner, Paul Baum & Christine Trauben, have known each other for 30 years. They all grew up on the lower west side of NYC in Chelsea & had a goal of owning a bar together & could not be more excited about opening The Elgin. As an acknowledgment of their collective history, they named a signature cocktail—the Chelsea 1724—after their neighborhood. Darwin & Paul grew up in Chelsea on 17th St and Peter & Christine lived on 24th St. They are joined by Patrick Callaghan who has been working with Peter for many years.

I was pleasantly surprised by my first visit to the Elgin. They accommodated my request for a table by the window and the restaurant was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Our food was fresh and tasty and reasonably priced for the area. They have a good selection of items but not overwhelming. Service was attentive and friendly. I would definitely go back again.

This place is adorable, quiet, wonderful service. The menu is a bit limited—not a lot of healthier options, but everything was tasty and it’s just a sweet place.

We ordered a starter which we never received. The main was very good. The service was terrible. We had to wait to order for over 30 minutes and they never asked how it was and for desert we had to look for service ourselves

We enjoyed our lunch at Elgin. It is centrally located between Rockefeller Center (we were there for the Christmas displays), and an off Broadway show that we saw several blocks away. The ambiance was vibrant but we could hold a conversation without raising our voice; the food was very good. The turkey and brie on baguette had an odd flavor that I think was from the either the brie or the dressing-I removed the brie and all was well. My daughter had the kale salad with steak. Fried cauliflower appetizer was very enjoyable. This will be our go-to place for lunch in Manhattan for our mother/daughter days. Everything was great except for the brie.

We dined at The Elgin for an early dinner before the Radio City Christmas Spectacular show. The restaurant is beautiful with the wood architecture. The service was impeccable, constant clearing of used dishes at table, water refills and quick service. The food was delicious as well, with unique dishes. I would definitely go back to The Elgin.

Excellent spot near some iconic NYC spots. Decorated well for the holidays and still unknown and quaint enough to be enjoyable. The food was pretty good (poke nachos were our fave, but skip the turkey hand held- it was average). Loved the mock tail choices and the kids pizza was large enough to share. Great prices and awesome atmosphere. Staff was also attentive and quick without being pushy.

Server was friendly and pleasant. Burger was great other entrees were so-so. We were asked if we wanted more pita bread for our appetizer but were not told there would be an additional $4 charge for it. Unfortunately they brought the bread after the entrees so no one really wanted it at that point. Other than the burger, the entrees were underwhelming. I’d recommend the Elgin for just drinks and appetizers vs going for dinner.

I always had a good meal & experience here. We both had the kale brussels sprouts salad with salmon, which is not cheap, but good. We had the fries as well, which were ok - not as crispy as I like.

We loved the ambiance, the jalapeño infused margarita was amazing! Calamari was great, eggrolls were interesting but I'd rather them be Asian inspired vs hamburger! The service here is unbelievable!!!! Everyone was great from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave! Overall, very good place to eat before your show on Broadway!

We had a lot of restaurants to pick from, but something about the Elgin stood out. We’re so glad we picked it. Our table was actually ready 30 minutes before we were, so there was zero wait once we arrived. The staff was attentive, but not intrusive. Our drinks took only a few moments and food came out soon after. Everything was hot off the stove/oven/grill and everyone enjoyed their meals. Couldn’t have asked for a better spot to dine!!

We had a show at Radio City Music Hall, and this was only a couple of blocks away. I used to service this account back when I worked for a wholesale meat company, so I decided to stop in. Great atmosphere, ordered a gin martini. It was superb. The food was not bad either, got a spicy chicken sandwich and the rock shrimp up front. Would definitely visit again.

This was a solid good place to go, especially considering how close it is to Times Square and how iffy restaurants can be in the area. We were also able to eat outside, as the noise level inside the restaurant would have precluded conversation for us. If you dont like loud, bar atmospheres for dinner, go on a slower night.

Great for last minute place to eat before a comedy show. We were really impressed with something we got last minute. By no means is it must have but at the same time I love food and would have no qualms going back anytime.

Took over 20 minutes for our server to come over to take our order. Never brought our drinks from the bar. Another server brought out our food, we asked about the drinks, still never showed up. Never came to check on us once the food arrived. Waited a long time for the check. Never apologized for not bringing our drinks and we had to request those charges be removed from the bill. Very disappointed.

This was my second visit to the Elgin before seeing a show. Great variety on the menu, including drinks. The server suggested a drink, name I can't remember, and it was really good. Recommend the fried cauliflower, the fries, and the gem lettuce Caesar.

We went at 5pm when the restaurant was nearing empty and they were seating every party on top of one another in one corner while the rest of the place stayed empty. It was an odd choice since the spacing between tables was so small. My burger was rare when I asked for medium but they took it back and brought a new one out quickly. I thought the pricing was a bit high for the experience and quality of food. The service and food was good considering!
