Sunday lunch here. Arrived lukewarm , completely underwhelming and appalling value for money. My chicken leg tasteless, watery gravy, three overcooked small roast potatoes, six carrot strips and a deflated Yorkshire pudding . My son’s pork looked like a grey fatty l lump of horrible meat. The staff lovely and they did take my chicken off the bill. We use love it here and it’s just a shame .

Restaurant refused to accommodate us for dinner saying the kitchen shut 2 hours earlier. They claimed that this was stated on OpenTable - it wasn’t and they accepted the booking anyway. I called the restaurant 4 times that afternoon to check the booking and they never answered their phone. We won’t be going back.

We booked towards the end of service the main course beef roast was very good but could have done with a few more veg. Shame the coffee machine was switched off as it would be nice to have a coffee at the and of our meal

Our food arrived cold and I really didn’t like the way they serve the steak and I did not like the chips and no did any of my party. I really wanted to like this place. It was such a shame about the food.

Overall a good experience. Eating in the dining room is preferable to eating in the pub area. Aim to go on any day but Monday and Tuesday for better dining experience.

Always a pleasure to eat at St John's Tavern. This time Saturday lunch service was very quiet so we were directed to eat in the bar area instead of the restaurant. The food is always good and as it was quiet, the service was efficient and relaxed.
