We visited this restaurant to celebrate my 39th birthday on a Tuesday. The traffic was great, and parking was smooth. As we entered, we noticed that the place was barely occupied, likely due to it being a Tuesday. We waited by the door, but no one greeted us. After walking a bit further, we saw some people, but no host. Five minutes later, someone got up from a seat and walked towards us. We were seated immediately and given drinks. The menu looked amazing, so we ordered chicken wings as an appetizer. They were incredible! Our son enjoyed a kids’ burger. We also had corn on the cob and the pit feast for two. However, the brisket was dry, the ribs were overcooked, the chicken was dry, and the sausages had a sauce that didn’t taste great. The French fries were okay, the candied yams were great, the rice was good, and the pickled salad wasn’t the best. The Shirley Temple was delicious, though. Overall, we didn’t like the food and were expecting just a batter platter. The TikToks we watched made it seem like this was the best restaurant in the city, but we left really disappointed. We won’t be returning for the same platter.

My wife and I held our engagement at Sammy’s Fish Box years and finally got around to dining at the Smokehouse. We were promptly seated and feasted on the garlic bread laid before us. We knew we wanted the BBQ Colossal Seafood platter. Instead of the sangria, I had the bourbon mule and my wife got a glass of sangria. She complained that the drink was strong - and the best sangria she had ever drank. The platter was fantastic, savor, and plentiful. The fried jumbo shrimp was plump and juicy and the ribs simply fell off the bone. The brisket was cooked perfectly and soon disappeared from under the slab of ribs. For sides, we had collard greens, Mac & Cheese, and candied yams. I thoroughly enjoyed the tangy taste of the greens and sweetness of the yams. I rate the overall dining experience as a 9.5, because my wife and I could only eat a quarter of the platter. The rest was quickly boxed for further dining experiences later tonight, tomorrow, and possibly Tuesday.

Our waiter, Sam, was very professional & accommodating to our large group. After traveling 2 hours, and passing all the other Restaurants, it was worth the trip! My family and I had a great time at Sammy’s. The restaurant offers a wide variety of menu options, making it a great place for people of all ages. The main dishes were delicious and came in very generous portions. The serving sizes were so large that my family and I were able to share plates and still have plenty of leftovers to take home. We ordered the brisket, ribs, and shrimp, and all three were excellent. The only feedback I have regarding the shrimp is that, while they were a great size, they could have used a little more seasoning. The ribs and brisket were perfectly seasoned, tender, and flavorful. The ribs were so tender that you could cut them with a butter knife. The only downside was the side dishes. Unfortunately, they did not seem freshly made. The mac and cheese lacked flavor, the French fries tasted like frozen fries that had simply been fried, and the collard greens tasted canned or pre-packaged and did not contain any meat for added flavor. We also had corn on the cob, which was just average. On a positive note, the piña colada was excellent. It had the perfect balance strong enough to enjoy, but not overpowering, and not overly sweet. Overall, the main dishes and drinks made for a great dining experience. The large portions provide great value since you can share meals and still have leftovers for another meal later. If the restaurant improved the quality of its side dishes, it would be an even better experience.

Although they are on Open Table, when confirming the reservation, we were told they are not honoring reservations and the wait would be over an hour. Really? Please take them off OP as they are not following process. Thanks. Quite frustrating.
