Mooney’s Pizza Tavern is a neighborhood pizza spot from husband-and-wife team Hal and Cindy Mooney, longtime pizza and beer pros with a deep love of Midwest tavern culture. The menu centers on long-fermented, large-format round pizzas made with organic flour and California tomatoes, plus rotating pan pizzas, salads, shareable sides. Oh, and frozen custard

The atmosphere is warm, casual, and lived-in. You'll find cushioned booths, glowing pendant lights, a lively bar, and the kind of environment that works just as well for families as it does for a late beer with friends. Our bar features 20 rotating taps of craft beer, a thoughtful natural wine list, and frozen custard for dessert.

Everyone who worked at Mooney’s was delightful and very attentive. Service was excellent. We were a little disappointed in our pizza. It did not have much cheese and there were spots with sauce only.

Everything was great. Loved the squeakers, pineapple pizza and fancy cheese pizza. Our server was fantastic as well. However, we did have to wait 30 minutes after our reservation to get a seat. Maybe they’re still working out some bugs? We rode our bikes over with a group of neighbors and were disappointed that they didn’t have any bike racks - especially when billing themselves as a local family joint. It’s a small thing, but we’d love to see it added to help encourage neighborhood families to come

My family and I had been looking forward to stopping by for weeks now, and we were lucky enough to get a reservation on a Saturday night. The restaurant was bustling, clean, and the overall mood was lively. We wanted to try a variety of items, so we started with the Squeakers (cheese curds) and family size portion of the Caesar salad. The portion size of both were disappointing! I had seen some pictures of others’ portions of the cheese curds, and ours looked like half was missing! For $12, I expected a bit more. The Caesar salad was good, but it was just romaine, dressing, and a mound of Parmesan cheese (no croutons or anything else)! We definitely won’t be ordering that for $21! For pizzas, we got a pan supreme and the 18” breakfast pizza with PORK BELLY. When our breakfast pizza arrived, not only was it lukewarm, but it had what looked like shredded meat on it. When I questioned it, they said it was al pastor! Umm, al pastor wasn’t even an option to put that on the breakfast pizza! I called over the staff member who took our order (looked like management) and he stated that they had run out of pork belly, so he decided to put the order in with al pastor. There was no communication whatsoever about this, which was very strange! He added that we wouldn’t be charged for the meat, but that isn’t the point! Anyway, we ended up spending close to $150 with tip for two pizzas, a few cheese curds, and a salad. Will we be going back? Probably not…

Only 1 star given based on the fact that we were never seated. We had reservations, waited outside for almost an hour, were told we would need to wait longer for a big enough table (party of 6) so we left. I guess we’ll never know if the food is worth that kind of wait.

I had a wonderful time at Mooney’s! My family and I made a reservation for 9 at 5pm on a Wednesday and had a great night celebrating a few birthdays. We ordered SO many things: buffalo wings, brussels sprouts, warm olives, the pineapple al pastor pizza, double pep with ricotta, a build-your-own pizza, and custard! Everything was amazing…but the custard, wings, and pineapple pizza definitely took the cake for our favs! Service was great and quick! I can’t wait to come back :)

So happy we now have a neighborhood pizza place! Our pizza and Caesar salad were both very good, and our server was very helpful and friendly. We highly recommend Mooney's!
