About this restaurant

Great for scenic views
Romantic
Good for special occasions

La Perla is the Crown Jewel of El Paso.

Inspired by La Peregrina—the world-famous pearl that passed from the Spanish monarchy to Napoleon Bonaparte’s brother before appearing on the neck of Elizabeth Taylor—our rooftop bar and restaurant, La Perla, occupies what was once the penthouse suite where the starlet lived during her marriage to Nicky Hilton.

Now, it’s been reborn as a contemporary rooftop bar, with impressive views of El Paso, the surrounding Rocky Mountains, as well as over the borders of Mexico and New Mexico. Admire the saturated hues of the desert sunset with a vintage craft cocktail in hand, and sample our tapas-style, seafood-driven plates by Chef Acosta (think: Tuna Aguachile, Hamachi Pastor, and Tacos Banados).

Expect to feel like royalty perched above downtown while sipping reinvented classic cocktails.

As the evening closes and the stars begin to twinkle, opt for one of the decadent desserts by Pastry Chef Rojo.

**Please note, only cocktails served Sundays.***

Open Table confirmed our reservation for Sunday April 14, 2024 at 6:30 pm. It turned out that the restaurant is not open Sunday nights! We were visiting from New England and had made the reservation on March 5th. We had anticipated the rooftop sunset view. VERY DISAPPOINTED in Open Table and La Perla !!!!

Great view and while the food choices are quite limited, the amounts were generous and did the trick. The service was great; however our server was running tables alone and could have used some support.

Took forever just to get our drinks ordered from the waitress outside. The waitress was too busy getting a customers number to focus on doing her job. I can only imagine how long it would take if it were actually busy.

Drinks good, ambiance good, service good, enjoyable vistas. The experience requires a bit of research- go for the nostalgia and hand crafted drinks made with care.

Horrible treatment by the waitress, drinks are good but too expensive, highly recommended just for the views, staff is extremely rude from the exception of the bartender, was expecting something else from The Plaza.

Went on a Saturday around 4 pm… waitress was good, can’t remember her name (she had braces 5/5). She was helpful with drinks right away and recommended some different food choices she likes. We ordered guacamole, had good flavor, I’m giving food a 3/5 because they only give you 4 tortillas for the guacamole…. We needed about 4 more tortillas to finish off the guac, so sadly a lot when to waste. Then the south side patio was locked so we couldn’t even enjoy the views over there. Only one fire pit was working and the service towards getting that fixed was disappointing. Overall, I’m glad I went and saw some of the views but I probably won’t be going back.

We were expecting much more because we’ve heard great things and the pictures online look nice. But upon arriving, it was very underwhelming. The girl greeting us was rude didn’t want to sit us. Being “upscale” and expensive, wearing a hoodie and leggings gives the wrong impression and sets the wrong tone from the get go. Then she went to get the bartender, she went on and on about not being able to sit us. It was almost like they didn’t want us there. They kept telling us they were “understaffed” and fully booked for the evening but it was dead with us and one other group. Music wasn’t good. Drinks were average. The place could use more heaters for outdoors. We were willing to spend the minimum for a “large group” or be seated separately, but the way they handled it was inappropriate. We left and ended up having a great time somewhere else, glad we did.
