Hills of Herat is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is fantastic. Many things to try. We frequently order Bhorani: eggplant dish. Lamb shank or lamb chops. They serve 3 types of specialty rices and 3 types of sauces with warm home made pita. Last night the a/c was out. I feel we should have been notified before we arrived since we had a reservation. We could have went to the Martinsville location. Upon inquiring they did bring out a fan so we were able to stay and enjoy a great dinner. Service is fine but you’re selling an experience why not explain the sauces and rices and menu suggestions. I have been many times but I often bring new guests. I just think servers could be a little more engaged and forth coming.

Excellent quality food with main dish portions on the small side. There is unlimited bread, but that does not compensate for the high prices and the refusal to serve us tap water. The night we were there the air conditioner was not running which made dining very uncomfortable. Perhaps come in cooler weather, and be prepared for a delicious and expensive meal.

Portions have gotten smaller but food has actually gotten tastier/more flavorful so I’ll take that trade off!

Amazing food. Everything delicious. Ask your waiter about ordering an extra individual kebab if you and your group wish you could try more on the menu!

It was a day of excessive heat, and there was no a/c. Our waiter told us there had been problems with the a/c since the morning. In this situation the wise thing would have been for the restaurant to call and alert us to the problem. We would then be free to take our chances in the hope that it would be fixed by the evening, or make alternative plans. This did not happen. We were uncomfortable in the stuffy atmosphere and were only outfitted with a fan midway. Service was awful, with repeated wrong dishes and one order that came after everyone else had finished the meal. The manager whose task it is to sooth customers' disappointments and make amends was nowhere in sight. This left our group of ten with no choice but to resolve that they would not be returning.

The service was decent - the main lady who took our order was very courteous . However , one of the servers was pretty rude - he just dropped the serving spoon on our table and left . The veg food was bland and just ok.
