About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Neighborhood gem
  • Charming
Don Cheech is an Italian Restaurant created by Italian born and Bibb Gourmand’s Michelin Guide awards recipient Chef Massimo Felici.
Massimo opened his first Trattoria in Firenze Tuscany in the early 90’s and that training you will see it on his menu with classic Tuscan cuisine like Pappardelle Wild Boar, Calamari Inzimino, and other wild game dishes…..but you will also find those dishes next to some American Italian favorites like Stuffed Long Hots, Chicken Parmigiana, Chicken Scarpariello and Steak Diane.
The food resembles that same history.
Elegant Tablecloth settings, burgundy booths, chandeliers and mirrors a large bar hosting one of the largest selection of Bourbons and Single Malts in the city with over 80 labels to choose from.
Massimo also loves his wine and the Wine Spectator Awards of Excellence hangs on his wall for 7 years in a row while browsing through over 140 labels all held in a temperature controlled glass wine room bringing elegance to the beautiful dining room.

First and last time at Don Cheech! The food was so-so. The shrimp cocktail was fresh, but the cocktail sauce was non-existent. The branzino was lackluster with flaccid skin which was supposed to be crispy. We ordered cocktails and both times the server, Miguel, forgot to order them. We asked about the fish special and he said he'd find out. Of course Miguel forgot to ask so we had to ask 2 more times before we received an answer. This was a theme that continued all during service. With poor service and mediocre food we still tipped the customary 15%. My belief is that the tip begins at 15%. If service is good then the scale goes up. If service is poot then the tip will dip below 15%. Was Miguel pleased? No. He had the audacity to ask us if we were comfortable leaving the $40 tip because he usually gets 20%. This classless, clueless halfwit thought he deserved more money for a job NOT well done. I have frequented every type of restaurant from diners to Michelin-rated restaurants and have never come across a server that thought it was wise to try to shame or intimidate patrons into giving a larger tip. My tip to Miguel is to try harder, be better at your job and then you will see more generous tips come your way.

We had a great dinner at Don Cheech this past Friday. The vibe is quiet and elegant, perfect for a nice night out. The food and service were top-notch, and we really appreciated their Lent menu with delicious meatless options. You will absolutely love the tripe, it’s a must-try. The Chef came by our table to say hello and even treated us to a free St. Joseph pastry. Such a classy, personal touch! We’ll definitely be back.

This was my first time at Don Cheech. There was 4 of us for dinner. We had the calamari, meatballs and long hot peppers to start. They were all very good. 2 of us had the double cut pork chops which were excellent. The chicken parm was good. And shrimp scampi was very good. I would recommend this restaurant and I intend to go back.
