About this restaurant

  • Charming
  • Great for outdoor dining

Dehesa is a charcuterie and tapas bar inspired by the cuisine of Spain and Italy. Dehesa opened in January 2008 and is the sister restaurant to Salt Yard in Fitzrovia, Opera Tavern in Covent Garden and Ember Yard in Soho, offering sharing dishes served in a relaxed environment.
The restaurant is named after the Dehesa- a unique woodland area in Spain which is home to the black-footed Ibérico pigs – said to produce the best Jamon in the world. This reflects our commitment to quality and provenance and our dedication to carefully sourced products.

Great place, such a shame that we had to vacate the table after 1.30hours needs longer to enjoy the food and the tapas experience

One thing is that the tables are so close together, its hard to get round the other tables & too many high tables. Otherwise, food, drinks & service was great!

Really sorry I would not recommend. The food was a poor standard, chewy meat, overcooked squid, prawns not cleaned appropriately and vegetables mushy. Slow service, each small plate arrived one at a time for a table of three so in one mouthful each we were finished and waiting an age for the next one. Food was luke warm, The toilets were also very dirty. The only positive was our waiter, they were very lovely and compensated us for the poor experience. Would not recommend and will not return.

I was very shocked by treatment at Dehesa, and not in a good way. The night started off badly after I booked a Standard indoors table. Options were Standard (indoor), Terrace (outdoor), High Sharing Table with others (indoors) and Wine Cellar Table (indoors Basement), and was sat in the Basement. I think they were hoping I didn’t notice, but I did, and asked to move. I was then brought back upstairs and offered a high top, and when I reminded them it was a Standard I had booked, the male host argued with me about it being a Standard. I chose not to continue the back and forth, and accepted my high top table. A few seconds later, he returned to offer me an actually Standard table, once the people currently on it had moved. It was now abundantly clear, they either never had the table available at my time of booking or tried to sneak me downstairs and panicked when I noticed. As a solo diner and ex hostess and waitress for some of Mayfair’s and Covent Garden restaurants and hotels, this behaviour is not unusual for Central London restaurants during their busy periods unfortunately. While I had accepted the new table that I had originally booked without much afterwards, the damage was already done by now. I was also already questioning the waiter’s training after a waitress was unable to tell me much about the wine list, her words were when describing the difference between the “FULL” wines compared to the “LIGHT” and “MEDIUM” (as described in the menu), “it’s like heavy… not more alcohol, just like, more heavy” I was ignored much of the rest of the evening and noticed I was waiting long periods of time to be noticed when signalling any staff member. The food, including the mains, were shockingly small and chewy. The drinks were also not worth the price.

They took so long to bring food out over 2 hours that we gave up and cancelled some orders so we could leave. Food was tasty so it was such a shame.

Somehow managed to forget to make the food we ordered (?), staff were not the most attentive, food arrived cold (if brought), potentially should’ve been expected based on location, but having dined here before, I was disappointed with the most recent visit. Wouldn’t go back

Overall the experience was great. We had the tasting menu which was superb, the prawns being the standout item. The tortellini was just warm and the ribeye was an unusual cut and whilst rare was a little tough. But overall service was great and the cocktails really good.
