Alfonso Salazar, better known as “Dirty Al” originally started shrimping as a young man with his father and 6 brothers. In 2003, he and his youngest son, Cameron, who graduated from Culinary School, transformed his bait stand into a restaurant where together they have been known for having “The World’s Best Fried Shrimp”! In 2005, his other two sons returned home to help grow the business. To this day, they now own 7 restaurants on beautiful South Padre Island and across the valley and continue to bring only the “best” Gulf Seafood to each customer’s table.

Situated along the tranquil waters of the Laguna Madre, Captain's Cove is a refined coastal retreat where the spirit of South Padre Island comes to life. Inspired by resident captains who charter fishing trips off the restaurant docks, the Cove blends local heritage with an elevated, seaside sensibility, offering a fresh take on waterfront dining in South Texas. Our menu features a show-stopping seafood tower, rotating selections of East and Gulf Coast oysters, prized for their clean, yet complex flavors, and contemporary dishes that highlight the best ingredients the Gulf has to offer. Our cocktail program draws on tropical influences and classic technique, crafting bright, balanced libations that complement the briny elegance of shellfish and capture the essence of island life.
