Located in Portland's Old Port District, Fore Street opened in June, 1996. The interior surrounds a unique brick and soapstone hearth with a wood-burning oven, grill and turnspit; visible from most tables. We believe that good food travels the shortest possible distance between the farm and the table. Our menu changes every day and is founded upon the very best raw materials from a community of Maine farmers, fisherman, foragers and cheese makers. Most of the Maine foods are organically grown or harvested wild, each brought to us at the peak of its season. In 2002 and again in 2007, Fore Street was named by Gourmet Magazine as one of the Top Fifty Restaurants in the United States. A couple notes about the Taverna-We stop taking day of reservations after 4pm. Please call the restaurant after 4pm.We do not accept parties of 4 people or more. We are a small restaurant with only 22 seats and cannot accommodate larger parties. Established in April of 2015, The Taverna serves authentic Greek fare while remaining true to our Greek roots. Our menu highlights what is available to us locally and seasonally. Our wine list is one of the largest all Greek wine lists in the United States which features natural, orange and organic wines. We offer a unique dining experience that can only be found in a few select locations in the country. We welcome you to our little Taverna in Brunswick!

    I had the lamb shank osso buco served on a bed of creamy polenta. It was outstanding. There was a dusting of ground pistachios on the lamb that took this dish over the top. As always I am completely impressed with Pomelia’s food and service.

    My cod dinner was without a doubt the best meal of my life - and I am 78 years old. Clam chowder was delicious as well. We come yo Portland from MA just to eat st Scales. Our very favorite restaurant anywhere.

    my server Rosalie was excellent and gave me all the specials for the day . the manager Joe was so friendly coming to tables to welcome guests and explain the dishes, the bartender Riley makes excellent drinks. the music was excellent and the plants are beautiful. food was excellent and fresh. the steak tips are hearty portions and delicious. salmon is fresh in a great homemade sauce.
