Great little place and perfect for before theatre dinner.

Avenue Bistro has great food and wonderful service. We have been here serval times and it is always a pleasant experience.

Excellent in every way and the outdoor garden for dining is magical

I'm a longtime diner at MacLoone's and last night's dinner lived up to my remembered expectations. I had made a reservation for the dining room, but happily, a porch table was available as we wanted to sit outside overlooking the lake. My partner and I were seated and our server, Eric, promptly brought us ice water and took drink orders. The couple we were meeting had requested a return visit to this restaurant where we had previously dined together indoors. They were delayed driving out of Manhattan facing unexpected traffic even on a non-World Cup night and a Monday. They were an hour late and our server could not have been more gracious, keeping the water glasses full, answering questions about the menu. The porch was not full, so there was no issue about turning the table over, and I've never had such an issue there. The four of us shared cauliflower and mussels appetizers, the latter surrounded by a tangy, yellow curry; both were excellent. We experienced the range of this kitchen: we ordered salmon, a pork chop special, seafood fra daviola, and crab cakes, all well prepared and delicious. We all shared an excellent, moist, not too sweet carrot cake for dessert. I look forward to another meal at MacLoone's!

It was fantastic. I hadn't been in many years and didn't remember it to be so wonderful. Also inside it's gorgeous. Beautifully designed and conveys a delightful Mediterranean feel. We had a few mezzo and for entree the Mushroom Manti. That was exceptional. A taste we couldn't even compare because we'd never had anything like it. That fermented yogurt sauce was beyond compare. We literally savored each spoonful and let it linger on the tongue. When we remarked about it to our server, he told us it had won best main course in New Jersey several years in a row. We understand why. We'll back - much sooner than "a few years" ;-).
