Scalini Fedeli was opened by chef-owner Michael Cetrulo in 1995 and very quickly became New Jersey's highest rated Italian restaurant. Rated excellent by the New York Times in 1996 and New Jersey's favorite restaurant in Zagat's Survey in 2001 and New Jersey Monthly's best Italian and top 25 overall in 2007. Highlights from the menu include soft egg yolk raviolo with black truffle butter, pignoli crusted salmon with artichoke and mint agnolotti in a light tomato and basil broth and braised short ribs of beef with a cherry pepper and port glaze. Set in an historic building built in 1740, the atmosphere is slightly formal with Tuscan style vaulted ceilings finished with Venetian plaster. Tapestry and antique mirrors adorn the walls.

    Great place for exceptional Italian food and a warm, attentive waitstaff. Salads were fresh and delicious. Pasta was perfectly cooked al dente and portions were ample but not overwhelmingly huge - love that! Dessert menu was a list of tasty Italian favorites with unique garnishes - tried the pannacotta!

    My wife and I are regulars at Ancona for date night and frequent the restaurant multiple times a month. The food and service are way above par. Last night we tried the calamari appetizer for the first time. The rings were lightly browned and fried and the meat was absolutely tender. For dinner we both had the tuna, one with a side of mashed potatoes the other with their perfectly cooked egg pasta. Amazing. We will continue to frequent Ancona for its great food and service.

    Service was outstanding! The reduction sauces were superb. Taste and presentation was exceptional! The menu choices all sounded so delicious it was hard to choose. Looking forward to visiting again!
