As always — a wonderful dining experience ! We love the atmosphere — quiet, upscale but not stuffy . My hubby and sons get steak and I always get the crab cakes . Always consistent and well prepared . Service is always top notch . Storm was our server this visit and she is a perfect example of how upscale service should be . Attentive , friendly but she doesn’t hover . See you soon !

I came to Richmond from California to visit my son and came across Southern Kitchen when looking for a place to have dinner. Being originally from the south and a soul food cook, I almost passed on this restaurant and I thank God I did not. It was the BEST soul food restaurant I have ever been to - truly! First of all, the restaurant facilities and decor were gorgeous giving upscale ambiance. Second, the service was great. I was waited on by Vanessa who was on her last day of training and flying solo, with Gabe checking in on how she was doing. However, and most importantly, the food was EXCELLENT! The servings and portions were substantial and I tried to hurt myself attempting to eat it all, but I decided not to do too much damage and took my food with me for leftovers the next day. I had the smothered turkey wings, collard greens (the best) and mashed potatoes with gravy. If you have never eaten here, do yourself a favor and make a reservation asap - you will not be disappointed. Needless to say, I made another reservation for my last week in the area. Thank you, Southern Kitchen, for the great experience. So sorry there isn't a location in beautiful California.

We had the Halibut and the short ribs and they were both excellent. Everything was delicious.

First time in, had a great experience! Will be back for sure!
