Best Wine Bars in University City

Absolutely amazing cant think of anything that could have been better in every way ! Even the chef came to have a small convo loved every bit !!!!

We had a great server Mark, who was very professional but also funny. He guided us through a wonderful dinner for friends & celebration of our Anniversary. Thanks to Mark & the team for a wonderful evening.

This was our second time dining at Esca, and once again, it did not disappoint! Our server, Ellie, was wonderful. She was very knowledgeable about both the food and drink menus and offered helpful insight throughout the evening. The men started with a Clay Pot Negroni, which was smooth and enjoyable. I opted for the nonalcoholic pomegranate and lime juice drink, which was absolutely delicious! For appetizers, we shared several dishes: Bruschetta – Blistered cherry tomatoes with garlic, red wine vinegar, and herbs. Simply lovely! Zucchini Carpaccio – Preserved lemons, herbs, pine nuts, and Pecorino cheese. Insanely delicious! This was a standout. Esca Salad – Homegrown lettuce, charcoal, vinaigrette, and Pecorino cheese. Our friend ordered the Spanish Octopus with marinated chickpeas, celery, oregano, and Calabrian chili. My husband and I both ordered the Branzino with olive-pistachio tapenade. And no worries about the fish head—it was already removed and beautifully filleted! Every dish was so delicious, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. It was a joyful celebration shared with good friends, wonderful food, and excellent service. Esca has certainly earned another visit from us. We look forward to coming back!

Our table was ready on time. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and our server. There was a good selection of beverages, entrees, and specials. Our food was delicious. I loved the butternut squash ravioli and the excellent swordfish steak (perfectly cooked and very tender). The shrimp dish was also an excellent choice for my husband.

My husband & I shared a few starters that were all fantastic! Loved the unusual flavors of the deviled eggs…will now add harissa to mine! The tacos were so flavorful…not sure what did that but I loved the pickled onion on it! The waiter told us the Brussels should be on every table & now I know why…Dee-lish! There will definitely be a next time & can’t wait to try more.
