This is an exceptional dining experience. We stubbled upon the restaurant while staying in the Mercure hotel which is almost opposite. It is out of the City centre but well worth the taxi fare. The choice of food is sufficient for most tastes. But it is the flavours that make this restaurant stand head and shoulders above others that we have visited. We are based on the South Coast but always make a reservation when visiting the City for sporting events.

What a brilliant meal. Our plumber recommended The Elms, so we thought we’d give it a go for the wife’s birthday. I was taking a risk, but it absolutely paid off.The food was fantastic and the service was spot‑on — friendly, helpful and never intrusive. We didn’t realise it was Steak Night, and the waitress letting us know about the free bottle of wine was a lovely touch.The steaks were perfect: great char, juicy inside, and full of flavour. Great food, great value, great night.
