Best Oyster Bars in Fishers Island

Over the years, we have visited The Mermaid at its different locations more often than any other NYC restaurant in this category. We have never been disappointed. While the surrounding Times Square area can feel a bit touristy and generic, the unique qualities that make The Mermaid so worth visiting are retained at this location. The food is excellent, the staff friendly and efficient, and it really feels like a joyful place for a quick happy hour special or for special occasion dinners. It is quite an achievement to keep the quality and feel of the place at consistently high levels, while keeping the prices reasonable.

Wonderful as always. Seafood is excellent, never a miss. Lovely ambience and great value for money. It’s our regular seafood dining place and we will return again.

I have been to The Clam twice, and absolutely adored it. I should say, though, that both times I sat outside. Leroy Street is quiet and peaceful, and it was such a pleasure to sit with my guests and enjoy relaxed conversation, without having to yell across the table. Inside, The Clam is pretty noisy, though. My suspicion is that I will dine there frequently so long as the weather allows for outside seating...and will probably choose somewhere else (sadly) when the chilly weather returns.

The bartender couldn’t have been more wonderful. I started with a dry gin martini with a gin brand I knew, but seeing their library of options, she helped me explore a new one that was just fantastic. Looking forward to returning soon.
