Best Oyster Bars in Kadijken

Absolute highest quality food, cooked perfectly. Every bite was a delight. Extremely well priced for the food quality and the skill with which it is prepared. We had oysters, kibbitz (chunks of fried fish), salmon entree, Dover sole entree, and sides of roasted carrots and asparagus. The oysters were the best we had in our visit to Amsterdam (and we had had the same variety at a tasting restaurant the night before). The salmon was cooked in a way that is hard to describe but it gave a taste and intensity of experience that was an immense pleasure to eat. The wine was suggested by the head waiter and coordinated with all the food beautifully. This is a must for any visit to Amsterdam!!! So thrilled with our experience. You can tell that everyone there is truly expert with seafood and they are focused on making sure you have the best experience.

We celebrated our 50th anniversary here. I booked this about 3 weeks prior and was a bit disappointed the other Seafood Bar (closer to the railway Central Station) was already booked up for the time we needed. It wasn’t a bad walk…about 30 minutes from the train station, but that included browsing along the way. We also missed the one right turn off of the main road from the station because the “street” we were to turn off on was more like an alley. I wanted a restaurant with great food and atmosphere and was a little afraid when we saw the place from the outside because it didn’t look like much. Once inside, I had a change of mind. The place was busy and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. It looked and sounded like a lot of locals were dining there. It wasn’t the intimate setting I had hoped for, but the food and service was impeccable. My wife had the Dover Sole and was cooked perfectly. Joao filleted it table side. I’ve had better fish and chips, but it was very tasty. Diana made sure we were taken care of with attentive service. If you want great food and service at a fair price, this place fits the bill. I highly recommend it.

Fantastic, super-fresh seafood near 3 major museums and the Concertgebouw. I returned daily while in Amsterdam. Mango scampi was great. Fast service with a smile. Book ahead, this place is very popular. 4 outdoor tables facing a busy street. Better are the high tables near the entrance. I most highly recommend. Several other locations in Netherlands.
