Best Japanese Restaurants in Aspen / Strathcona / West Springs

This is mine and my wife's favorite restaurant, hands down. We could eat endless spicy salmon handrolls and sashimi platters. Cocktails and mocktails are always a hit, the servers always anticipate what we need, and the vibes are excellent. I can't recommend it enough.

Satsuki is tucked away down a stairwell across from The Plaza Theatre, which means that, as frequent Plaza goers, we have somehow passed by it dozens of times without knowing it was there. This bums me out because the food here is so incredible! Great flavours, excellent portion sizes, reasonable prices, and an ambiance that makes it suitable for both date night and a casual meal with friends. The service is fast and the people who run the restaurant are very friendly and happy to offer a detailed suggestion if you're not sure what to order. (I highly recommend the gyudon, especially if you love umami). They also have a nice variety of beverages. I haven't had a chance to try their sake selection yet as I've always been the driver in my party, but it seems like a good variety. As a light drinker I also appreciate that they have decent non-alcoholic drinks, including a really refreshing Yuzu Matcha soda that's perfect for summer. The desserts are also great, and unique too. There's a really good black sesame tiramisú and a "matcha experience" where you get mochi cakes and a traditional matcha, with a sweet soy milk on the side. We'll be going back to Satsuki a lot, I imagine!

The food was amazing. Every dish was delicious, with an incredible variety of flavours and textures, along with excellent presentation.
