And every once in a while, you leave wondering why every restaurant can’t operate at this level. A L’Ouest was one of those experiences. From the moment we walked in until the last bite, the service was as close to flawless as I’ve experienced in San Diego. Professional without being stuffy. Friendly without being overbearing. Every detail seemed intentional, yet effortless. The food? Spectacular. The steak may very well be the best I’ve had in San Diego. Perfectly cooked, unbelievably tender—literally cut-it-with-your-fork tender—and finished with a sauce that elevated it without hiding the quality of the meat. The burger wasn’t an afterthought either. It was one of those burgers that makes you stop talking for a minute because everyone at the table is too busy enjoying it. Rich, juicy, perfectly balanced, and absolutely worth ordering. The ravioli was outstanding, the grilled vegetables were beautifully prepared, the fries were crisp and addictive, and every plate that hit the table looked as good as it tasted. The beverages matched the food—creative, well-crafted, and top shelf. I always try to find something that could have been better. This time… I couldn’t. If I had to score it, it’s 6 out of 5 stars. San Diego has a lot of great restaurants. A L’Ouest belongs on the very short list of places I’ll enthusiastically recommend without hesitation—and I’ll be back.More infoA L’ouest$$$$• French• North Park•4.7
- MMaryBethSan Diego •24 reviews5.0Dined 2 days agoI was there with three others, I had the chicken casserole, my boyfriend had the short ribs and we both loved our dinners. We also had a Cesar Salad and a beet salad which were very good. One friend had the artichoke flatbread and seemed to like it well enough. The other friend had the risotto verde, which she did not rave about. Our waiter, Eduardo, was excellent, friendly, attentive but not overly so and helpful. It was not busy when we got there but as people arrived the noise level was such that we could easily have a conversationMore infoFarmer's Bottega Restaurant$$$$• American• Mission Hills•4.5
