Bistro 146 is a true neighborhood gem. The menu is very large and so are the portions, usually plenty to take home. I'm very fussy about fish and every dish is prepared perfectly, never dry or overcooked. Sides are fresh and inventive. Instead of fighting the crowds in the center of town, come here for dinner and you'll be returning again and again.

We have been to Birch Hill Bistro several times. We love the food, ambience, and the staff! The menu changes fairly often and last night we had some delicious new offerings… My husband love the halibut special and the sole and chicken entrees were also scrumptious. The Inn is an actual historical building that on occasion fed President Washington and troops. The quaint building with dark wood beams and a wood burning fireplace is the perfect place for a special occasion dinner or a casual local dinner. Our food was delicious and unpretentious , prepared perfectly. Our server Jose could not have nicer or more attentive. We are looking forward to our next meal there.

We had an especially delicious dinner at Under Hill and enjoyed that the piano player and singer kept to a quieter level so we could enjoy his excellent musical ability but also converse comfortably with each other.

We have loved this place for many years, and returned recently after not having been in a while. The management seems to have heard some concerns we had when we were last here - e.g., $45 for a glass of champagne?!, $40 for a cheeseburger?!, too many servers and not enough service - and made some good changes. Restaurants in New Canaan are expensive, so the prices here are not low by any means, but we thought everything was delicious and the service was very good. The wine list has some very good values. We ate in the bar, which is a much cozier atmosphere than the main dining room, even though there was live music (small space, a little bit too loud). The menu was prix fixe, with three choices for each of appetizer, main course, and dessert - at $80/person, not cheap, but all very tasty perfectly cooked. I recommend the Roger Sherman, and will return again and again.
