I hadn’t been to TAO in quite a while, and my return made for a great night out. The ambiance was just as memorable as I remembered, and the service was attentive throughout the evening. Even servers covering other sections stopped by to check on me, a thoughtful touch that made me feel well taken care of. The wasabi honey sauce served with my Shrimp Tempura Roll was a standout. It was so good I could practically drink it! I also paired it with my sashimi, including the toro, and enjoyed every bite. My waiter’s recommendation of the Brooklyn sake was another highlight. Between the atmosphere, attentive service, and delicious food and sake, it was a great experience from start to finish.

The food at Shun Lee was great. The soup dumplings were extremely flavorful and not too doughy and the amount of soup inside was just right….not so much that it went everywhere when we bit into them on the spoon. The sesame noodles had the right amount of sauce and were fresh. The shrimp with garlic sauce had the right spice level…not too spicy. My only minor complaints: for the price of the shrimp and garlic sauce, the portion was a little small, and tea was not offered.

This is a great restaurant for Chinese food, which seems tailored to common American tastes. My Chinese fianceé and I dined here while considering restaurants to privately book for our wedding, and we had a great experience. Easy to book. Easy to change a reservation. Great ambiance. Quiet. Peaceful. Good aesthetics, both regarding the presentation of the food which seemed high quality and the design of the place. And customer service was flawless.
