We opted to celebrate a birthday at lunchtime on Sunday. The Colts’ game was starting as we sat down. Our group consisted of two people in their 80s, two people in their 40s and a precocious 7 year old. There was something for everyone and it was all delicious. Cocktails, wine, lemonade with soda water, you name it. Our starter was the calamari. Unlike many places, Vicino uses strips of calamari steak instead of rings and tentacles. They were lightly breaded and perfectly cooked. The old folks ordered a salad (split) which came with a lemon balsamic dressing. It was fresh, ample and delicious . The old folks ordered also the funghi pizza to share. Again, it was ample and delicious and had a delightful thin crust. The 7-year old ordered a variant of biscuits and gravy made with croissant and Italian sausage. She devoured it. And the 40 something’s ordered the Italian beef sandwich and the roast salmon sandwich respectively. Each was happy with his or her order. Finally, we ordered tiramisu and cannoli for dessert. Each was excellent. Throughout, we were ably served by Kevin (?)(I think that was his name - he had designed some of the cocktails on the menu). From taking pictures of the group with our birthday hats to putting a candle on my cannoli, he was attentive and fun.
