The Experience was a winner! From the greeting to the service to great music.
The food , environment and the service was excellent. Celena was amazing. Give her a raise.
Yoshi's has been one of our go-to places for family celebrations for 20+ years. The food is delicious and there are cooked options for those who don't like sushi. Service is always awesome. Some of the offerings are trendy and a shade too cute for my taste: sushi rolls in local team colors, for instance, but the superfan in our group loved her Oakland A's roll. They offer beautiful classic sushi and sashimi along with more inventive goodies.
Went to have dinner and see Eric Benet with my wife. Had a fantastic time. Food was great, the show was amazing with a great vibe and atmosphere. Very fun place to see a show. Would recommend to anyone.
Our waiter was great. The support staff seemed a bit confused about what was ordered, but even with that our waiter took care of everything.
It started terrible. We had reservations for 130 pm that they knew nothing about. Didn’t get seated til 2pm then no food till an hour later. During the process nothing but excuses we are under staffed the manager won’t be in till later our computers are down so we missed our movie which started at 330 terrible experience
Great service. Awesome food
Our dinners were delicious with generous portions and a great bargain for the price. The cocktail that our wait person recommended was as described and delicious as well. The wait staff was attentive without hovering. The only disappointment was the brownie dessert which was dry and flavorless. The black cod ( also recommended) was fresh and perfectly cooked. The calamari and fritter were crispy without being greasy. And all the salads we had were outstanding
Had a great time.
What a fun place with great quality and taste. Oakland ‘s Jack London Square does not get recognized for what a nice place it is. Worth your dollars and your appetite.
Yoshi’s is always solid and an Oakland mainstay. It never quite meets true fine dining as there always seems to be confusion or a little chaos, but it’s a great spot to grab food pre-show. Decent menu options, especially on the sushi side.
Very calm ambiance. Low lighting, romantic. Waiter was nice and attentive but not intrusive. My only qualm was that they really pack the seats in the performance area. The seats were so close together I could not adjust my own seat, or scoot my chair back or forward to use the restroom.
Very good food and service. Rib Eye with mushrooms and soy sauce was awesome! The club is the best. Pacific Mambo Orchestra was great!
Haven’t been to Yoshi’s in years-wanted to have a little post New Year celebration with a friend. The place was packed. The noise level was so extreme the three of us. Oils not follow a conversation. The service was attentive, but VERY rushed even though we told our waiter we were not going to the show and have plenty of time. Food tasty, but not an enjoyable experience. Will not go back. Plenty of other restaurants nearby.
Dinner was wonderful. Sashimi was fresh and tasty. Wine list is nice and also affordable. Service was spot on. Tickets for a wonderful show at 8:00 were provided in advance. Dinner prior to a show is a no brainer. We have always been very satisfied through the years.
The scallops and pork belly were exceptional... That was one of the seven dishes we ordered. Tuna tartare was mushy - did not taste fresh, and was not chilled at all when it arrived. We had ordered the dishes in the order we wished to enjoy them. Everything arrived almost at once, so virtually nothing was consumed at the correct temperature.
Nonetheless, the jazz venue is superb, parking easy, so we will be back. But we won't try to do a fine dining experience. Maybe just stick to sashimi and a salad.
1-the Sea Bass was chewey not moist (melt in your mouth);
2-was scheduled to see a show (while spending way over $100+)
3-upon entering auditorium the host had the nerve to tell me I had to wait 2 MINUTES (keep in mind I had VIP Tics, a drink in my hand and other hostess holding my food) !!!!! Bad service.
4-Just over all BAD Service. Poor Yoshi, this appears to be not HER Club anymore. She ran a TOP NOTCH EVENT.
FYI - my experience: I traveled around researching Jazz Clubs aroubd the world. We are developing a Local $90M Jazz Museum here in the Bay Area.
I miss Yoshi!!!!
Quite an experience. Food was okay, service was good, music was great!
We arranged to surprise my brother and sister-in-law for their anniversary with 2 other couples and brought our own champagne. Staff immediately took care of chilling our champagne, getting us the most desirable seats for the show and suggesting the way to order for all 8 of us. The only complait: food came out way too fast from the kitchen...but it was hot and fresh!
Good food and policy of reserving seats if you dine before show adds considerable value. My only complaint was that the kitchen was slow to deliver the food, so two sushi rolls arrived moments before we were to finish our dinner and head for the show.
Great anniversary dinner and great company. Parking was great I the garage attached to the restaurant.
Yoshi's is definitely my go to! I am there at least once a month if not twice a month and have been going for several years now. I love the food and staff. Everyone who works there are friendly, warm and accommodating with smiles on their faces. The food is delish, mostly sushi. After dinner, I attend the live jazz show. Evenings there are truly amazing. Thank you Yoshi's!!!
Dinner before the Brian Culbertson show
Made reservation for two months in advance for the Bian Culbertson show, allowing 1.5 hours for dinner. We found out that the menu was changed to a prix fixe menu which our server insisted we knew about because we were either informed by email or by our hostess. She was quite rude about this. A salad, sushi and main course of a small lobster tail or beef short . The sushi was very good. The rest was just so-so. The big problem was our server forgot about us, missing the salad (which was finally served). 30 min prior to the performance I had to find our waitress to get the main course ordered. It came 15 min before the performance. (The restaurant was not that busy) We rushed to eat or last course and put the desert in boxes. And finally the 20% tip as automatically included for a total of $275. So the tip is not really indicative of service. Yoshi's has been good in the past, this time was a bust. Perhaps eating at Kicaids or elsewhere is the right choice.
Everything was great except for the fact that there was a set menu that was never mentioned to me!!! I was not prepared to pay $124 for a set menu that I couldn’t enjoy because I don’t eat sushi or anything raw!!! The waiter was very apologetic and no substitutions...so I paid $124 for a salad, main course & dessert!!! A very unhappy customer & ive been a customer when Yoshi’s was located in Claremont.
NYEve. Brian Culbertson
Love Yoshi's. We go frequently and it's a great place for excellent Japanese food and good jazz! My complaint was specific to 12/30/18 reservation. When we arrived we were informed the "New Years Special meal deal" was a Price Fixe for $95/person which is probably two or three times normal pricing! Hostess said they had my phone number on record and should have called (they didn't). Waiter said he had heard the same complaint from multiple parties. If they weren't going to call they should have flagged this info when we made the reservation. As always the food was excellent but absolutely not a good value whatsoever at $95 per head!
Didn't understand the whole New Years eating event, which was a waste of money, as who eats that much food? We couldn't take our food home because there wasn't a place to store it while we watched the show. I usually love the food at Yoshi's but that night, we opted for the vegetarian meal, which was tasty, but cost too much, and too much food was wasted.
New Year's eve-eve treat. Fixed price menu. Food was good. Kind of pricey with tax and gratuity and corkage fee added to bill. Went to get good seats for Brian Culbertson, who was fantastic. Will attend performances again, but might not always eat there.
Yoshis never disappoints me!
The Shrimp & Scallop Scatter was delicious and the Sushi hit all my taste points!
The atmosphere was cool like a supper club and we attended the show after dinner which was awesome.
Would definitely recommend for an entertaining evening!
Always great for I’d and service.
Service good, food tasty; however, three of five dishes were delivered cold. The server was apologetic and threw in free desserts to make up for issues.
Food should be near perfect for the cost..
A wonderful night of delicious food, exceptional service, cheerful ambience and outstanding music and entertainment! I was in heaven as I left! It was an early New Year’s eve celebration for a special person!
The atmosphere, ambience and food were wonderful. We had an enjoyable time.
I visit Yoshi's a couple of times a year. Always a good time.
Yoshi’s is arguably the best restaurant in Oakland. The food was great, and the vibe always proves energizing. Excellent overall experience.
Took my sister out visiting from east coast
Our server was great and the food was excellent! This is a great place to have a meal before a show with your server actually getting your seats. Not sure how one can get the better seats though.
I enjoyed the overall ambiance and service. I particularly liked the preferential seating for the live show with the open table reservation. Yoshi was very accommodating ! Your director of marketing and public relations Ash is awesome!
