The staff was very welcoming and friendly. However the food was disappointing. I had the Chicken Limone and my spouse had the Flounder Francese, dishes which we have both enjoyed before in various restaurants. While I realize that each chef puts their own touch on a dish, the sauce for this was so heavy that it completely overpowered the flavor of both the chicken and the fish. Additionally, the sauces tasted the same for both dishes. The chocolate cake with raspberry sauce that we had for dessert was very good.

We were staying in Williamsburg so finding Walker Dam took a little effort, but the GPS took us right to it and it was well worth the trip! Food was plentiful, authentic Italian, and wonderful! We split the mussels marinara appetizer and it was delicious and all were pleased with their entrees. Be sure to try the garlic knots! Our server was excellent and very friendly and helpful, and the owner was also very friendly and came around to our table to see how our meal was and just to chat. We were there in the winter, but in the summer there is also an outdoor patio or deck overlooking the water. The restaurant is in a campground which was pretty deserted in December, but the restaurant was packed. I'm not sure where all the people came from, but I think in the summer reservations would be a must.

We shared the veal Marsala which was to die for. I felt like I was back home in NY on Arthur Avenue. The pasta was silky. I bet it is home made. While this place is off the beaten path it is worth the ride. My second time here. Looking forward to another great meal!

I've been here more times than I can count and it is reliably outstanding every time. I get the same thing 95% of the time - boring perhaps, but it is just so darn good. If you get an appetizer, by the time you're done with salad and the unbelievable warm garlic knots, you can count on needing a take-home box. The entry sizes are enormous. Our dinner leftovers are usually our lunch the next day. If you dine here and don't yearn to return, I'd be very surprised.

Excellent food; lots of it. Great service by a young man whose name escapes me. A neighbor told us about this outstanding place tucked away on the Chickhominy River....what a find. Uses cash or check only which was a pain. THanks for using OpenTable altho.

In a nutshell, this is the best Italian food anywhere in the Williamsburg area. Very flavorful, portions are good-sized and everything is fresh. It really is located in the middle of nowhere unless you are familiar with the local campground. The one beef - and it is a big one, is that THEY DO NOT TAKE CREDIT CARDS. We would go here more often if they did. I don't carry a lot of cash on me and refuse to pay ATM fees.

The Walker's Dam Grill is the most wonderful discovery we've made since moving to the Williamsburg, VA area. Tucked away in an RV park on the Chickohominee River, this marvelous little place serves some of the best Italian food this side of Little Italy. Everything we had was fresh, cooked to order and delicious. Can't wait to return and share this with our friends in Ford's Colony.

As always we had a great evening at Walkers Dam Grill. The Wednesday night special was awesome. Dinner for 2 for $25.00 is great. They have a variety of menu choices. Everything we had was wonderful. The service was excellent.

Our first time here and will not be our last. Yes, it is tucked away in a campground on a lake - kind of hidden from the world. The food is AMAZING! Great Italian cuisine made with care - delicious - haven't had food this well made since I was actually in Italy at a 5-star restaurant. This place deserves 5 stars across the board. Visitors to Williamsburg are missing a real treat here! Enjoy! Mangia!

My husband and I were so glad to hear the restaurant was back but were scared it might have changed the quality of its food over the past few months. We had no reason to worry. The appetizer was delicious and started the night off perfectly. The wine was full bodied and complimented Italian food of all kinds. The portion sizes were very generous and we had enough left over to eat well again the next day! I would recommend the now named Walker's Dam Grill to all who enjoy great Italian food and wine.

Was given the name of this restaurant with rave reviews from diners. They weren't kidding. It is the best Italian we have had in the area, and we have lived here for 13 years. Started with the Mussels Limone. Outstanding, the buttery, lemon wine sauce was over the top. My husband had the Rockfish, I ate the rest of it the next day. So much food, we took home the yummy Risotto too. I had the Flounder, also had mussels, and little neck clams enough for two people took that home as well. Loved this restaurant. We will be back! It is a drive but who cares when such good food is available. Can't wait to bring family here when we want to go out of the way for the best Italian food in the Williamsburg area.

This was our fourth visit to Walkers Dam and the food is what brings us back. They have their wine and beer license renewed now so we enjoyed a reasonably priced bottle of Pinot Noir with our Lobster Ravioli and Rockfish specials. They also had their seafood soup which we have enjoyed on past visits and is an excellent first course. We enjoy the casual ambience of the place and, though it gets abit loud at times, you can tell that it is a dining room that attracts a satisfied crowd. We carried on a lively conversation with our waiter throughout the meal and enjoyed his comments about the food prep. Walkers Dam will be our "go to" restaurant when we have friends in from out of town and when we are in need of another great meal.

This restaurant is about a 25 minute drive west of Williamsburg and well worth the effort. It is located in a campground setting on a scenic river just off of Rt. 60. The "Special" that we had was a fabulous Italian dinner that consisted of an appetizer, salad, garlic knots and two entrees for a total of $25! I think that it is a Wednesday promotion. Even without the promotion the food is well worth the drive. The wine list was fine with the house selections being "Banfi" and were priced reasonably. The service was good and reservations are suggested as the place was packed. Be sure to check the operating hours and and keep in mind that they accept Cash and Checks only for paying the bill. AAA+++

Even though the restaurant is a bit out of the way, it's a great place for a good meal. We were in Williamsburg and wanted to drive a bit from the city to find a good meal. We found it at Walker's Dam Grill. We had read about it online. When we arrived it was very busy inside and since it was a nice day in May, we asked if seating was outside. They said 'yes' and we were seated. It would have been great if the construction machines doing work on the dam were not sitting right in front of us. At the end it got a bit busy when a big group was seated at two or three tables. The food was great. we shared a delicious appetizer, a sort of cheese pizza with a salsa on top. I couldn't finish my salmon, but took it home to enjoy later.

As a frequent diner at Walkers Dam, the food is always excellent. On this trip we were seated in the new dining room. It is quite small and there was a large party at one table that was quite loud. Once they left, everything was fine. Service was excellent.

Have dined here on many occasions. When first found it was the "best kept secret". Now the word is out. This gem of a dining location is unsurpassed in food and service. Portions are allways plentiful, more than enough for a next day or two meal. Italian food extraordinary. Always pleased with selections. The flavors in each dish leaves the diner wanting more. Not a Weight Watcher's dining place, too much temptation.

As always the food was outstanding I am hooked on the mussels and linguine with shrimp, clams and calamari we brought friends who are now a big fan My drive from Williamsburg is worth it!

Overall this restaurant consistently delivers great food at an excellent value. The daily specials have never disappointed. Wine list is modest but has some good choices at reasonable prices. Service is also consistently good with friendly servers.
