Umi Sake House
We came mostly for the Lobster soup and tempura but it was unavailable:(.
Everything else we ordered was wonderful
Our favorite sushi spot in Seattle! A must whenever we visit.
great food - wonderful selection - nice area under the skyight
Great food, atmosphere and service!
Highly recommend. Sushi was delicious. Service outstanding. Vegan options soo good.
Food was great, server was very knowledgeable and able to make really nice recommendations on sake flights and sushi. Lower rating stems from very poor interaction with hostess team. We were treated rudely at the hostess booth, enough to possibly discourage my party from returning. It really just soured the restaurant experience.
Met a friend at Umi for dinner and some sake. Had a 6:45pm reservation on a Tuesday.
Very busy (and I don't think it had anything to do with the fact that it was National Sushi Day as I think Umi is generally busy) and VERY loud.
However, the food was good (expensive though) and we were able to have good conversation.
I'd recommend Umi for the size of the menu (many options for rolls) and the location. Lots of other great sushi restaurants to choose from that I'd recommend before Umi.
One of the best Happy Hours in Belltown by far. Typically 45 mins to an hour is plenty of time to order 1 or 2 courses and have a couple cocktails. This time around they seemed pretty understaffed for the rush. Our server ran her tail off trying to stay afloat, but at one point she had 8 or 9 tables going. Our order was a little messed up, but she was apologetic and comped one of the incorrect items which was sweet. Food is always awesome, but it took a half hour to get drinks and 45 minutes to get food, so happy hour was done before we could order another round of everything. Won't prevent us from going back, but we'll probably get there earlier next time so we don't run out of time.
Great way to spend a birthday dinner :)
Always amazing that’s why I keep coming back, best sushi spot around
Overpriced, loud, harried staff and inconsistent quality across dishes left us feeling that we had just eaten at the after party in a college area restaurant.
This restaurant is always the girls’ night choice. The sushi is outstanding and the service is excellent and fast. It is super loud, just know that going in.
Very loud amd server was not good at all. Table amd chairs were dirty. Food is very good.
Awesome food, as usual. The main dining area is quite loud, as always.
Umi is my favorite sushi restaurant. They have very unique rolls and flavor combinations that are truly awesome and the visual presentation is outstanding. Do yourself a favor and try a Lychee Saki-tini, you'll see why.
Love UMI sake house! prices are decent, atmosphere is bustling... but we ordered spicy tuna roll and the tuna was the mushiest, grossest tuna I’ve ever had🤢
Great food served by a very polite & helpful server. We loved it.
The sushi was good but i just left feeling “meh” about the whole experience. Waiter was fine. Food was fine. Drinks were fine. Nothing was exceptional.
My favorite sushi spot - has been for many years, thank you for continuing to impress!
The service and over all ambiance was great. We ordered a couple of apps and rolls to share. The soft shell crab, black cod and tofu were good, but the rolls were all pretty disappointing. The rolls were cut super thin, about 1/3 of an inch thick and every slice would immediately fall apart when you picked it up. There was also weird an abundance of sauces or something they used to drench each roll. So the rolls were are swimming in a pool of liquid, with a mixture of soupy liquid and rice— similar to a porridge.
If I were to comeback again I would give the rolls a wide berth and stick to nigiri and other apps.
Fav sushi place!
Great but hard to hear over the crowd
We came here late after the baseball game. The sushi was super fresh and the service was very good. The place was busy and had a great reverse happy hour menu for late night. Ended up feeling like I stumbled into a heck of a deal. I would highly recommend to hungry late night fans.
Maybe my standard is too high, nothing really wrong with the experience. The service was great, and ambiance is excellent for date and friends. However, I had issue with their food. Overall, everything seem to be too oily and over cocked. The sashimi is okay for regular standard. In their price point, I was expecting more refine dinning experience.
Great food and happy hour specials are great. Definitely coming back.
Very positive experience.
Food and sake were amazing. Service was great and loved all of her recommendations. Other reviews are spot on — it is loud and energetic but location and taste can’t be beat.
The service was great. Food prepared promptly. Nice ambiance. A little bit loud and the seating was slightly cramped but well worth it overall.
we went here because of the sake- but the 3 different kinds of sake we tried were all very poor quality compared to the stuff we are used to in Japan. Service was terribly slow- we had to chase down a waiter to order drinks to accompany our food, which wasn't special either. Won't be back.
Always great happy hour food. Was sat promptly for the time of our reservation and server was friendly and tentative. One of our favorite spots to go.
It took a while for food to come out or get the check but it was an amazing experience
Very loud for a Tuesday night. The sushi rolls are huge, be prepared to come hungry (or share)!
However this was my 1st bad experience and been here many times. The food took longer than normal to come out. When wanting to place another order as asked by waitress he rushed me to order. Each time I selected an item he said "thank you" and started walking off. I politely said I'm not done with my order. He did the same thing two more times. Not good service and I think I'm going to wait a while before returning. This was disappointing for this has never been my experience here.
Celebrating our twins’ birthday ... came from East Coast and had an amazing experience! Food was wonderful, great options and creative combinations! Was able to reserve the tatami room that made it so special!
Great food and excellent service! They have a fantastic happy hour too!
Good food, but not stellar. Quite loud and not a very cozy atmosphere. Definitely a good restaurant but we had higher expectations.
We had a great time at Umi Sake House! The service was awesome, they made a mistake with one of the entrees and promptly took it off the bill without my asking. So many vegetarian sushi options and all the rolls were delicious. Definitely will go back if I’m ever back in Seattle again!
Second time going here and the food is still as amazing as the first time. The waiting staff is brilliant and very attentive. The hostess was the only downfall. We had a reservation at 6pm but we arrived about 15 minutes early. We gave our name and asked if we could possibly be sat earlier than 6pm and the hostess said no but she would put down in the book that we were already here so when our reservation did come around we could be sat immediately. She advised we could sit at the cocktail bar and she would come get us when our table was ready. So we sat at the cocktail bar and watched as other parties were sat (even ones that were at the cocktail bar waiting like we were), 6pm came and went. Finally, close to 6:30pm I went back to the hostess and asked how long it would be for our table and she didn’t even recall who I was or that I had a reservation. After providing my information all over again, she said we could be sat right now if we wanted. The rest of the evening was fantastic. Great atmosphere, great servers, water glasses were always full.
Have been to Umi many time before particularly for their regular Happy Hour....great value, and lots of excellent Japanese food choices. Quality is very good and price very reasonable. Only issues are the noise level is much too high and the venue is dated - but food, service and values excellent.
Great food, crazy loud.
Service was terrific, and everything we ate was delicious. We just couldn’t carry on a conversation without shouting and straining to hear.
