Very welcoming and friendly service. The food was delicious, freshly cooked and hot.
Perfectly cooked steak - exactly as requested! Super child friendly too!
The staff were totally rushed off their feet it wasn’t their fault. The Food came fast- almost too quick -before the drinks. It was okay but the old winning post menu we remember was much more bistro pub now it’s classic pub food. It’s very limited now but the food we got was tasty just overpriced. The staff seemed overwhelmed by how busy it was- it was packed outside. I’m sure it’ll get back to normal eventually and we will give it one more chance. This pub used to have a really incredible menu and be more about food than people getting drunk in the beer garden.
Fab service, slightly disappointed with the fact they had little cheese and when we asked if we could have a cheese board they replied with there would be a very very long wait for it?
Perhaps more staff are needed during busy times?
Fantastic steak and chips. Cooked to perfection. Lovely sauce and vegetables too. Service was good and staff worked very hard under difficult circumstances. Would recommend.
Great service. New chef is good.
A lovely place for an evening drink, but the food left us disappointed. Normally the standard is better so I am sorry to report the burger I had seemed to have been cooked before and just warmed up making it quite dry whereas it should have been hot and sizzling fresh out of a pan and my husband's pie came just with chips and no vegetables and was very average. We have eaten there many times before and it's always been very good, and indeed the crumble was up to the usual good standard. May be it was an off night for the kitchen. However, the ambience is good, garden beautiful and would recommend the staff who were really helpful and attentive.
We had an amazing two nights here, it was really lovely. The staff were all very attentive, polite and friendly, The food was delicious.
Always a delight to be at the Winning post. The battered fish was the best I’ve ever had
The usual great atmosphere and service. Great to be back.
Very nice rooms - good size, good decoration and clean.
The food is good but there wasn't not a large choice but it was mid week.
The breakfast was good value for money and included in the price but the service was a little slow.
Second time eating at the winning post and we were disappointed at the lack of a welcome or goodbye from the staff which was a shame!
The food was good, but service was very hit and miss, I think we had four different waiting staff looking after us throughout the evening leaving no continuity.
A simple goodbye as your leaving goes a long way!
I usually love the winning post but was a little left down on most recent visit. No specials board / untrained staff who just dumped a bottle of white wine on our table with no ice bucket or offer to pour or try / very slow drinks. Such a shame as it was a favourite but I’m just hoping it was a bad night!
Perfect lunch hadn’t visited since it changed from the cottage inn having moved back recently to warfield so happy to have found this gem again really lovely waiting staff and food really was nice and priced well
Disappointed with the options on the menu, there was only one starter that attracted me and I resorted to a beef burger for the main course as the other choices were uninspiring. However, the food was well cooked and hot. We did overhear another table ordering ‘specials’ which we were not offered so that would have given us some more choice. The main course was a long time coming so not sure if the kitchen was short-staffed. I would recommend based on the nice setting and the quality of the food we had but I would not necessarily return in a hurry.
Great pub. Super food - high quality, decent portions, with super nice, friendly service. Ambience us really good. Place was pretty empty when we were there but it didn’t feel like that in anyway. Thoroughly recommended.
Having dined here before and thoroughly enjoyed it, I was some what dissapinted with the drop in the stanadrd of the food since my last visit. The food was ok just not the very good food I had experienced before. A bit of a dissapointment.
Lovely restaurant with a beautiful roast lunch. Would highly recommend
Fantastic Valentines Day special event on Friday evening. The menu was inspiring and the food up to the usual high standard of quality and presentation. Staff always pleasant and obliging.
The welcome glass of Bubbly was a nice touch and I plucked up courage to eat the accompanying oyster, which was a first!
Always good value, delicious food at realistic prices.
Very comfortable and pleasant.
Service was great and the food very good.
Food wasn’t anything special. Not very impressed when a waiter touched a dog then served drinks!!! I wouldn’t go back!
Despite the rocky start when we arrived, food was good, restaurant service was fair. When we arrived, the barman was more interested in making drinks for the tables than serving / assisting us with our table reservation. Lovely venue, always has been. I've been coming here through various owners. I was supervised that Upham ale was not available when this is owned by Upham Brewery? We will return, but not in a massive hurry to.
Visited The Winning Post a couple of times now, and I honestly can not fault it. I have been with work colleagues and they have been very pleased with their visit too.
The food is just fantastic, good size portions, hot and very tasty.
I also like the décor and the 'oldness' of it.
Excellent dinner service was very good. Polite, a lot of noise from the bar. But overall definitely would go back.
Best Roast Dinner I’ve had in a long time. Super friendly and welcoming staff. Lovely table and ambience. Thanks !
Really nice place for sunday lunch, the staff are so friendly and helpful and the food was great - my aunt is allergic to gluten, the manager and kitchen staff were excellent in making sure her meal was gluten-free. Will definitely come again!
Slightly disappointed by our experience at the Winning Post. We have tried Sunday lunch at most local pubs and I'm afraid there are other providers in the area which we would rate higher.
The food was OK, nothing wrong with it but also nothing special about it. The staff were very friendly but could have been more attentive. We had to ask for a red wine 3 times, service was slow between meals and there were issues with the card machine when we tried to pay. All in all, an OK experience but not one we will be repeating anytime soon.
Absolutely gorgeous country pub with a lovely ambience and decor. Food was tasty and good quality. Only one little fault I would say, nobody offered us any water despite there were glasses on the table and we had to ask for a dessert menu as nobody came back after our mains were cleared. Other than that, it was fabulous. Thank you very much.
An excellent evening, thank you very much, especially ‘secret Santa’.
We ate good pub food served in generous portions. Pleasant service. Cosy decor and ambience. Good parking.
Very well looked after by front of house
Good bar & drinks selection
Grandkids were happy there.
Had a problem with broken candle on Birthday cake all sorted & cake produced with candle mended.
We recently discovered The Winning Post and been absolutely in love with the place! The Sunday roasts are wonderful, the waitresses are professional and kind, and the interiors in the period prior to Christmas are fantastic.
A lovely old country pub with an excellent menu and a delightful ambience. It was busy but not overpoweringly so and did not affect the very good service by very pleasant staff. Food was very tasty with much being locally sourced.
What a quirky, cosy, lovely pub. Perfect for a wet and windy day. The staff were pleasant; relaxed atmosphere and the food incredible. No faults at all. First time visiting and already recommended it to locals.
Fantastic from start to finish, stay overnight and had best breakfast ever. Very helpful and polite staff
Service good, food well presented and tasty. Some unusual options on the menu which made it a bit different.
Service was awful...waitresses walking around looking but not looking what was needed to be done...waited 25mins after finishing dinner not one person came to clear plates..so got up and paid at the bar
We had a lovely evening with excellent food and great ambience. The only issue was that we waited a long time for our order to be taken, and two of the main course options were no longer available.
Great Saturday lunch, good thing we booked as the restaurant was full
