The Southern Gentleman is a Southern-inspired gastropub in The Buckhead Village District. The concept celebrates every aspect of what it means to be from the South with a fresh, modern take on traditional dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. The bar program explores the artistry and history of classic Southern cocktails—everything from barrel-aged cocktails to bottled libations to adult beverages on tap, along with New World wines and craft beers and the “perfect” mint julep.

The gorgeous top floor space in Buckhead Atlanta was designed by New York’s Lacina Heitler, and features classic, Southern touches done in surprising, modern ways: seersucker window treatments, tufted camel leather booths, vintage plateware, white marble countertops, vaulted ceilings, herringbone floors, dramatic chandeliers, complete with an oversized portrait of Mark Twain painted by a commissioned local artist.

Had a friend in town.....we had an outstanding meal at the Southern Gentleman. The deviled eggs are fantastic. the short ribs were terrific. we stayed and had a drink at the bar. lively and fun atmosphere and very roomy. Highly recommend!

My fried chicken was overcooked and overpriced. Busy Bee has better chicken, but the service and aesthetic are top-notch.

The service was great. We had the hush puppies, and fried green tomatoes as appetizers. The hush puppies were OK and the fried green tomatoes were excellent. Our entrees included the fried chicken and the steak…chicken was very good the steak was average.

We received such amazing service from Jay. Part of our party was an hour late, which I felt really really bad about, but he was so kind and so understanding with us. He kept a smile on his face and remained giving us exceptional service throughout. The food was exceptional as well. Thank you for making my birthday brunch so special.

During a time when good service is seriously lacking all over Atlanta and food is overpriced and bland, The Southern Gentleman got everything right! Food and cocktail were outstanding, waiter was nice, prompt, and knowledgeable about the food and drinks. Manager stopped by to ask how our dinner was. Everything was top notch. I had a great experience at The Southern Gentleman. The food and customer service were both excellent, and the restaurant's ambiance was reminiscent of a sunny day on the beach. The chocolate chip banana bread in particular is absolutely incredible!

We have been here a handful of times and always enjoy it. The new cabbage appraiser was unique and very tasty. The Short Rib Pot Roast is always a go to for us as it is always tender and delicious. Service was friendly with great recommendations. Only thing, which isn't a big deal to me, is that this was my second birthday in a row there and neither time was it even acknowledged (it was on the reservation my husband made in my name). Personally, It's not a big deal, but it's the little things for some people.

I’ve been the Southern Gentleman before so perhaps this was a one off experience but I didn’t enjoy my visit as much this past time. I had a rez for 12:30 with a friend and we showed up on time together. We wanted to sit out in the patio since it’s pretty loud near the bar despite few people being there and the nice weather that day. Someone came in after us and was seated outside, the host explained that an individual with special needs needed the table (which was completely understandable) and that we’d be seated as soon as the next table got up. The issue was there were open tables that weren’t cleaned off yet which sat that way for about 20 minutes. We were finally sat on the patio around 1:10 pm. Just know that even with a reservation, you will likely wait a while.

We had the mushroom omelette and grits which were really good as was the fried chicken. We wish the chicken came with an option of eggs or something other than the cake which is neither a waffle nor a pancake. Our only complaint is that the music was too loud making conversation a little difficult, even at the outside table where we were sitting.

Service was impeccable! Our waitress, Dorieon, was prompt, attentive, and very personable. The food was just okay. I got peach cobbler which could’ve been warmer. And hush puppies which again could’ve been hotter but they had good flavor. My sister ordered fried green tomatoes which she found to be over cooked and too crunchy. Unbeknownst to us, our server mentioned the dissatisfaction to cook, whom remade green tomatoes. We appreciated this much! Would visit again and try dinner menu.

We really enjoyed our evening here. The waiter was on it, and pleasant. The drinks were delish and the food was really really good, the only negative we had was the portions were on the small side. At least the buttermilk fried chicken was, I had to order another appetizer to get full, and I’m a woman. Js. I would eat here again but not in a hurry.

Ask for Shannon when making a reservation. Hands down the best service experience I've had traveling in quite some time. My partner and I travel for work in addition to balancing the needed personal travel trips which inevitably means, we are on the road often! Everything was outstanding from our server who had a great personality to the gentleman who spent time going over the bourbon and whiskey list with us making craft distillery recommendations. Would highly recommend as all of that plus the food was as good as it gets.

We had brunch on the patio which was amazing. Our server was personable and fun. The food was delicious and the cocktails were tasty. We have the Mimosa flights, Shrimp and grits, Short Rib Hash and several appetizers (Deviled Eggs, Fried Green Tomatoes). All was great!! Highly recommend.

Dinner at 5 p.m. on a Wednesday, so it was not too crowded, but there were a fair number of folks there. Service was excellent - thanks Cassie! - we were taken care of but not pestered, and her recommendations were great. We had the fried green tomatoes app, braised short rib pot roast and fried chicken. All was great. Chicken was crispy on the outside, moist on the inside! The collards with the fried chicken were not my favorite ... they left the big stems in, and if you do that you really should cook them longer so they aren't crunchy and stringy. But flavors were all interesting, and portions were ample. The space is definitely a vibe! We will be back.
