Our dining experience at the Inn was very enjoyable and comforting especially by the waitstaff that served our needs. The staff at the Inn has decorated the dining areas in very festive but elegant decor providing a very romantic atmosphere for all to enjoy.

Ambiance was incredible with lovely Holiday decorations. Service was excellent and very attentive. Food was excellent, but portions were extremely small. I’m not a big eater and was able to eat the entire meal. Would not recommend for a hearty diner.

Ambiance, service and attention to detail were all superb. The waiter was top-notch. with his description of the specials and paid just the right amount of attention that allowed us to enjoy our conversation yet not want for anything. The delivery of the food was spaced out perfectly and was really good, except for my Dover Sole. It was different than expected but that was not the issue. It was a very thin piece of meat and that fact coupled with the coating/seasoning/breading made it a bit dry. I can imagine how difficult it can be to get such a piece to not be dry, so not a huge error. My wife's duck was nicely prepared and tasted great. 4 stars overall because of my sole. If i ordered another entrée, would probably have awarded 5 stars across the board.

We have always enjoyed our dining experience at SRI. However, we were disappointed this time. We had to wait over 20 minutes at 8:00 pm on a Tuesday for our table. They were in no rush to try and turn the tables over. Once seated, we waited another 15 minutes before the waiter came to open our wine. We asked for bread and were told we couldn’t have any until we ordered. We tried to place an order for apps (since we’d been at the restaurant for over a half hour and we were starving). The waiter said we had to place the whole order and walked away. Still not allowed bread. The service was sub par and the food was overpriced and just ok. Odd dessert selections. Very seasonal. They need to have a few staples on the dessert menu. The waiter was annoyed we didn’t order dessert or coffee. Overall very disappointed. We have been coming to this restaurant for over 25 years. Slowly slipping downhill. Not the SRI of the past.

Last evening at the Saddle River Inn, our dining experience was exceptional. The pork chop was delicious and tender and prepared very well. The scallop risotto was very good with the scallops were prepared so that they were tender and delicious. Our waiter, Leo, provided excellent service as did all the Inn staff. Great evening for our wedding anniversary. Thanks.

Pretty difficult to get a reservation here so plan early. It gets crowded by 6pm. Even during the week. Food is always great, as is the service. Not sure why this is never on the Michellin radar, but maybe that's a good thing. Dont need more competition for seating and besides, some of the dumps Michellin has been putting on the list the last number of years is embarrassing. Anyway, you'll be sure to enjoy this restaurant!

We have been at this restaurant quite a few times during the last 20 years always having excellent service and quality of food. However this last time our experience was shadowed by the treatment we had from the General Manager Mr Anthony who despite our written request submitted through your site to give us a table at the main restaurant level since we had 2 guests of an age that had real difficulty to use the stairs to the upper level, we were given a table at the upper level without having been notified for this before. We understand that the restaurant could be fully booked however we never received a response to our request so that to be able to decide if we could go or not, but only were told that it was not possible when we came. In addition when we asked why the bread served was not warm as all the times we had been before, the assistant waiter said that they do this only at the main restaurant level and not upstairs! After all for an excellent restaurant to be it is not only the food but also the treatment of the staff! Many thanks Michael Lavidas

The Saddle River Inn is one of the best restaurants in the entire metro area, not just New Jersey. Superbly prepared food is served by expert waiters, in a lovely, relaxing environment.

My husband and I have been going to the SRI for 37 years and we are never disappointed. The ambiance is magical/romantic, the food is simply amazing and the staff is spot-on without being intrusive. This is a must if you've never been!

From the moment you walk in, the service is incredible. Highly recommend anyone to try this place just once. There isn’t a bad dish on the menu. It’s truly an experience.

We had an dinner for two, which was disrupted by a rowdy men-only wine-tasting party of 8. The party should have been seated upstairs, they were obviously annoying other patrons around us as well and really ruined our evening. It is understandable that the restaurant could not have done anything once these mostly intoxicated men became extremely loud, but perhaps seating a party like this upstairs at a long table would mitigate much of the disruption to other guests looking for a nice evening.

It was our first time at Saddleriver Inn. Such a gem in north Jersey. Delicious farm to table food. French style and elegant. The staff was amazing. Not one waiter but everyone helps one another out. Such creative and delicious dishes cooked to perfection. Lobster toast, tuna tartar, and steak was on point filled with flavors and love. Highly recommend and will be back for a date night or special event. It is a BYOB so bring your favorite wine!

Our waiter, Ty, was great. Our issue was with the closeness of the tables which resulted in it being very noisy and hard to hear one another. This hindered the abiance of the space. I found the food to be medicore and it did not live up to our expectations. I do not mind small portions if the taste and quality of the food is great. This was not the case. The oysters were fishy, the tuna chips were basic and our meals were just average. I was very disappointed and I am sad to say that I would not return to the restaraunt.

Brussels like I've never seen. An unusual way to start a review, but it speaks to the strict attention to detail that chef puts forth. We guessed that the brussels were blanched to perfection and then roasted at a super high temperature. When I cut into them I saw every color imaginable from green to crispy brown and the flavor was not lost as is the case when they are flash fried at a steakhouse. Treating every ingredient in the kitchen with love. (hopefully good guesses on technique) We were the first to arrive for the 5:00 seating for our 27th anniversary, along with a bottle of 1999 Joseph Phelp Insignia...Yvez, our server was cordial, professional, and oozing presence...so we shared a taste as we like to do with special bottles. The menu was electric...my eyes were darting from the appetizers to the main courses and Elisa and I worked our usual collaboration to get a consistent variety. Butternut squash soup shot on the house (our Thanksgiving soup!), then Lobster Toast and Szechuan Noodles to start. Elisa chose Dover Sole and I, the Dry Aged Rib-eye cap for the main. One word...Wow! We appreciate the composition of the dishes that chef feeds his creativity into. We had to conscientiously slow down, putting the knife and fork down to pair the wine and food. The ginger snap and the cobbler for dessert were the cherry on top. Gorgeous presentations and combinations of flavors that reflect the chemistry of the ingredients working together. I left some broccoli stems on my plate but aside from that...they were clean! Fantastic!
