Can't give a very high review because of our server. My husband doesn't eat potatoes and asked for an alternative, which he was willing to pay for--brussel sprouts instead of potatoes. The answer was a hard no. So, instead, they agreed that the server would give additional green beans in leu of the potatoes, which would have been fine. Also, the pork chop was ordered Medium Well. The server brought a well done pork chop with a HUGE serving of mashed potatoes and a few green beans. Really?! We were speechless and left it alone. The server never remembered that there was an issue. Also, we literally had to get up and find him to get the check. I would have loved to come back because my cobb salad was very good, however, we can't risk it with service like that.

This was our first visit to the Newsroom and we loved it! The service and food were great! My martini was perhaps the finest one I’ve ever had and I’m very picky when it comes to my martinis. Great location for seeing a show at the State Theater and a short walk from our hotel. We’ll be back.

Our server was friendly and fairly timely, although they didn't check back to see if we wanted more drinks. The food? No, just no. The Ruben was sweet. How on earth do you make a sweet Ruben? No, just no. The mushroom gorgonzola could have been good, but the golden raisins did not work. Are they trying to make every dish that should be savory, sweet instead? Why? I know the American palate leans sweet, but this was ridiculous. I would have rated the ambiance higher, but I made the mistake of using the restroom. First, the door to the women's stall is very tall, maybe 6 feet. Whoever installed the hooks for purses and coats put them at the top of the door. I couldn't even reach them. Second, the mirrors on the women's side appear to be one-way mirrors or something. My husband, who used the restroom at the same time, could see me through the mirror. I was putting on lipstick, and he knocked on the glass. It scared the hell out of me. He thought I could see him; I couldn't. How creepy! I probably wouldn't have gone back to The Newsroom, but after my experience in the restroom, there's no way I'd ever return. Quite frankly, I don't understand why this is a thing or allowed. It's disturbing. Oh, and finding the restrooms is challenging. They are tucked away, and there's no good signage to help find them.

Food was pretty good and timely. Service was apathetic even though we were there early and they were not busy.

Short ribs were amazing although a bit pricey. The soup was chicken tortilla with no tortilla, but good flavor. The beet salad would have been perfect but the dressing didn't fit. It was too bitter for the apples and beets. To much vinegar. Would be better with a citrus or poppy seed dressing.

The Newsroom is a favorite go-to spot downtown. This visit was consistently good. My husband ventured off his normal and enjoyed the omelet special. I really appreciate the Gluten-free almond chicken salad.
