Excellent food and service. Great value - even more so when using 'eat out to help out' discount!
Asked for an outside table, but as weather was very very hot, The Green Oak offered us a table inside.
Disappointed that the bill came with twelve and a half service charge included, tipping should be optional, in my opinion
We came for lunch and had their set menu. Everything we had was lovely, and the other dishes we saw coming out looked good too.
Great food and service just a bit overpriced on the wines
Lovely setting and environment. The food was delicious but service was a little slow. A bit difficult to gain waiter or waitress' attention to order desserts . But apart from that my friend and I had a lovely experience.
First class service, very attentive. Would come again.
As usual very friendly felt safe and clean.
Busy but not overcrowded.
Lunch menu good value
Friendly and polite staff. . . Restaurant clean ,well organised . . . Food delicious, Sunday roast my favourite. . .
Wonderful Sunday lunch in the horse box. Couldn’t have asked for better service, especially in the heat. Felt totally safe with the Covid-19 precautions in place. Delicious food. Looking forward to returning soon. James, keep doing what you’re doing
The Sunday Roast was excelente.
Excellent procedures in place making for a very relaxed atmosphere.
Food was excellent, personally I would like more casual food options that can be ordered to eat in the garden.
This is a wonderful place to eat, the staff are amazing and it's really safe, you can sit in or eat out
Service was fantastic and the food was lovely. Not a negative thing to say. Staff were really friendly and would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
Waiting time was good, staff very friendly and accommodating, food very tasty highly recommend
Fabulous evening, great quality food nicely presented, attentive staff and great atmosphere. Highly recommend.
It was OK. Food lovely, although drinks abit expensive. Staff friendly.
Lots of promises regarding Covid 19 protection written on paper but little in evidence. Hebridian Spephard's pie was OK apart from over salted gravy. Came with no vegetables & had to order two portions as sides resulting in 75% waste and unnecessary additional cost. Chicken & crayfish terrine sounded interesting but the core was all chicken. I'm sure there must have been some crayfish in the jelly surround but could not detect it. White LabelBurger & chips was OK, nothing special.
Many of the outside tables allocated for diners who book in advance had no umbrellas so you just get wet if it rains or go inside if there is room.
Needs a more interesting food for our taste and in these Covid times umbrellas for all tables outside as required or gazebos over tables. For inside they will have to work on getting a through draft as well as more spaced tables and PPE mandatory for staff if they are going to get within 12 inches of your face as they read your menu.
Good outside space for distancing, great food at sensible prices. Service always attentive.
Great service and food! Lovely setting, tables well spread out and love the idea of dining in one of the horse boxes next time! Would recommend anyone to go!
First meal out since Covid started. I was concerned that none of the waiting staff wore masks and would have felt safer if masks were worn when our food was brought to the table. Sanitizer was offered when we paid the bill but should have been offered when we entered the restaurant. It hasn't increased my confidence in going out but the food was delicious.
Tasty food. The fish was excellent and the service good. Very enjoyable meal.
Fantastic service, delicious food - couldn’t have asked for better.
Great food and very attentive service as always as The Greene Oak.
Food was above average, however, the soup was very powdery and didn't seem homemade. This was after a 50-minute wait from ordering to receiving the soup.
The main waitress was not attentive and forgot the starters and also forgot condiments.
We got our starters of soup after a 50-minute wait.
We never received the condiments to go with our main course which took an hour and 10 minutes to arrive (Fish and chips)
Having eaten in the Greene Oak on many occasions I felt very let down with the service and wait times.
The staff apologised as they knew they did not give us a good experience
Great choice available on the set lunch menu. Everything we had was delicious.
10/10 great food, great wine, great beer, great service, fabulous
First things first...challenging times for restaurants & pubs and the service elements were great. The team managed changes to our booking and table preferences really well and the service throughout was personable, accommodating and friendly throughout.
The food took significantly longer than previous visits to arrive (especially the main courses), but I would accept that being a casualty of the additional measures and concerns exerted by Covid-19.
Having been to the Greene Oak several times over the years, it was the food itself that was something of a let-down. To be clear, previous visits had delivered exemplary food; right up there with the best. To extend that clarity, none of the previous visits included 'Sunday Roasts', which this latest visit did.
The menu extolled crackling as part of our 'Roast Pork' option, but it wasn't to be. Early warning signs were there to see as the plates arrived...good/successful crackling doesn't get covered in gravy prior to being served; indigestible fatty rind evidently does.
One of our party asked where the crackling was...both parties evidently felt awkward with the "...it's on the pork, sir..." response.
The pork tasted OK and we were lucky enough to have sharp knives to carve through the two thick slabs on each plate. The agriculturally-hewn carrot triangles had a similar artistic source/intent, but were well seasoned and accessible with the aforementioned honed cutlery.
The cabbage was equally well-seasoned, albeit less combative than the carrots and the meat.
I can't work out whether this was 'a roast thing', 'a C-19 thing' or a conflation of both.
I really like this place, and would still recommend to a friend. Previous experiences have all been memorable in a hugely positive way; but this wasn't one of them.
Brilliantly managed for Covid. Excellent food & outstanding service
Food at the Greene Oak was very good, but we thought both the food and the drinks were on the pricey side (there were very few bottles of wine under £30) I had smoked trout to start which was on the small side, and overpriced at £9. The burger was good, and reasonably priced. We sat outside (which was very pleasant) so cant comment on the ambience in the pub itself.
Lovely garden, table service great. Very clean. Lovely food and coffee!
The Greene Oak has always been good but now its even better. The menu was terrific, with lots of choice and we both really enjoyed every course and wine. Gregoire made being a host look effortless and made everyone feel as if they were getting unique and special attention.
It was good to be able to eat out again although I don't remember it as being as good as this. Thank you - you all made it a memorable experience for us.
The Gunnard was delicious.
I wish the menu had the individual prices listed for the main course so that you could see the difference between one course and two courses.
Lovely waiter - really kind and helpful
Lovely family friendly pub with fantastic food. Thoroughly enjoyed by all. We will be back.
My boyfriend and I went for his 21st birthday, Both the service and food were amazing! Thanks so much :)
We had an excellent time. The service was brilliant and though they have made the necessary changes for the current situation it didn’t feel that different to dining there before. Thank you Greene Oak for all you have done to support the community during the lockdown and it was great to be back.
Lovely food, friendly waiters but unfortunately longer than average wait for food to arrive at table. If that improves they get my 5th star!
I had booked this without any prior knowledge of the place but we were very pleased with everything g could not have been better
Amazing roast dinner!! Best we’ve had in ages......always lovely to
visit this place.....the staff are great & was also so nice to see Kirsty and her friendly face. The Attwells
We had booked outside
We were seated inside
OK it was raining but why no provisiion to cover weather ?
Glasses cutlery napkins on table on arrival
Wine glasses removed by waiting staff and put behind bar not into dishwasher
It was a first meal out with my daughter and her friend to mark her geeting her first career job.
None of us felt safe.
It is with regret we will not be able to support the Greene Oak whilst Covid 19 exists
Great service & great roast. Very safe with lots of staff on hand to take orders etc.
