The Greene Oak
Lovely restaurant. Friendly staff. Superb food. Not cheap but you get what you pay for.
Goods menu choices and range. Friendly staff. Food cooked well and good flavours . Relaxed surroundings.
High end gastro pub with a lovely menu using seasonal British produce. Service friendly, nice atmosphere. Tables well spaced. Perfect for couples or groups, special occasions or just a treat.
We had a lovely relaxed meal, the menu choices were inspiring and tasted delicious there was a good variety of food available. We had 3 courses which is very unusual for us and will be going back to try more on the menu. the staff were lovely and the wine choice too. Desert absolutely scrummy!
Lovely food, great service. Staff attentive and efficient. Great menu.
Excellent venue, staff polite and keen to offer service and advice.
Choice of menus for lunch which was great, I especially liked the choice of fixed price 2 or 3 course selections. I had soup followed by dexter beef which was great and not so expensive for the quality of the food.
On a busy night I would have eaten in the toilets as everything is spotless and precise. Excellent.
Lovely food, quite expensive, and very different food offering from your usual pub grub. Attention from was staff great...my only criticism is the addition of a 12.5% service charge, which they are willing to remove, if you notice. We will go back, but a large glass of Sauvignon Blamc from New Zealand costs £10.... So will go for diet cokes! Lovely venue
Fantastic food and service. Great atmosphere and would definitely go again as very local to us. Highly recommended
We love the Greene Oak, the food is some of the best pub food you’ll have and it’s not nonsense fancy stuff it is proper well cooked, very good ingredients pub food. The burger is brilliant, the shepherds pie is to die for. The staff are superb. Not in your face but when you want them and knowledgable and friendly.
The food is good value but not cheap, you really are getting what you pay for.
Excellent food in a very relaxed and enjoyable environment. Staff are fantastic
Quick service to table and food provision. Staff always helpful and pleasant and quick. Dinig area quiet and clean and comfortable. Not crowded or noisy.
Superb service and food. Visited for Sunday roast and will definitely go back.
Very accommodating to my daughters visual impairment - a lovely lunch.
My friend and I enjoyed a fabulous Sunday Lunch this last weekend. Attentive but relaxed service, great food with huge yorkshire puddings. Decor and ambience perfect for Sunday lunch!
Great food and lovely staff. Only negative was baby change. It’s so high on the wall you Have to stand on the toilet seat which is a bit of a nightmare / dangerous
When busy, this lovely pub is noisy, which for people with hearing problems makes conversation difficult. However, the food is delicious, extensive choice on the menu, staff very attentive, so put your hearing aids in😉
Lovely impromptu meal with my husband with a travel zoo voucher for £39 for two with a glass of prosecco. Food was very good. Really enjoyed the pickles with a blue cheese dip - very generous portion & could easily have been a starter. Scallops were delicious to start. Will be back.
Lovely pub wonderful food and service but I always think it's cheeky to put on 12.5% service charge even though it is discretionary you never want to say I'm not paying it. Don't get me wrong the service was good but £25 tip......really???
Best roast we have had will defiantly be coming back!
Had a wonderful evening. Slight issue with my meal being a little cool but was quickly sorted. The service was perfect attentive without being intrusive. Can’t wait to go again.
The last time we visited the Green Oak was over two years ago. We were very surprised and impressed with the improvement in the quality of the food.
Thanks once again to James & the team for a fab long lunch.
Fish mains were all top notch (hake, plaice & bream all equally enjoyed) - highly recommended.
Look forward to returning soon!
We dined on Sunday (late afternoon) and all was well, we were given a table in a quiet spot which was fine then we ordered the starters which we found very gritty (they were scallops) and the way they had been cooked spoiled the delicate flavour. We decided to have a Sunday Lunch menu (including the beef) which once served the whole meal was overcooked. The roast potatoes were so hard that we had difficulty even cutting them and once eaten proved to be very dry and overcooked. The meat was also very overcooked and dry. We complained about the poor quality of food and to be fair the restaurant did give us a refund on the main course. Overall very dissapointing, we have already reserved a table in advance for Christmas so I hope that they get that important meal correct. We understand that a Restaurant can have its off days but serving such overcooked food is just not acceptable.
Dear Frank I am very sorry to read of your poor experience with us last Sunday. I will email you directly to establish more detail Many thanks James
We only live 35mins away from the Greene Oak but totally misjudged the midday Saturday traffic and arrived over an hour late for our booking! We were made to feel that this was 'no problem' and were made very welcome and not hurried.
Good and friendly service and very enjoyable food - on the expensive side but no complaints about the quality. Would thoroughly recommend to others.
All the staff were welcoming and helpful. Our Sunday lunch was delicious with some surprise extras on the plate, like little cocktail sausage in the Yorkshire pudding.
The manager stopped by for a chat when the room was quieter which added a nice personal touch.
Wouldn't hesitate to go back, just what the area needs. . . many thanks. L
Had a dinner there, the food was fantastic (both the main course and the desert), and the wine list had different interesting options, the service was very good and the place very cose, highly recommended.
Great pub with fantastic food. We would certainly return for another visit. The food was very creative, with some incredible flavours and combinations. Service was really friendly and wines were decent and well priced. The restaurant area was a little too hot when we visited, but it was still a great evening.
No thanks Innnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnmmmmmmmmmmmm
Food was great, as was the service. We felt very welcome
A great experience, brilliant service, amazing quality food that looked too good to eat.
This is the second time we have been here this year. Really good food and service. I will be going back again soon.
Great location, friendly staff and decent service but food came short compared to the bill and charging for tax and service.. Tax!
Best food I've had in ages and I eat out far too often! Such great flavours. Impeccable service and nice ambience. Thanks for a lovely evening
very good - portions quite small on set menu- felt it was chefs day off
But tasty and will return
Please include veg or potatoes in the set menu, first time with set menu not sure about it again.
Would recommend this pub
Lovely food, as always, and really friendly, attentive service...made a great birthday/university departure meal even better, thanks
Brilliant apart from a somewhat incinerated burger. “Well done” shouldn’t be charred... But otherwise fabulous
Good as usual, the roast beef was under par.
Which the staff were keen to rectify.
Have used the Green Oak on and off for years, today was by far the best as we learned it has recently been taken over by new management, cannot recommend more, we were booked on a Sunday for my wife’s birthday the staff bent over backwards for us, couldn’t have done more, food was perfect great selection of beers, wines etc
Will definitely be visiting on regular basis
Really interesting and varied lunch menu visited as a large family group all were happy with the choice. Exceptional service without being overbearing. Interior has a comfortable pub feel but some great quirky modern touches. Will certainly be returning.
