What Insiders Are Saying
It doesn’t get much better than having a Spanish brunch on Terra Plata’s rooftop garden in Capitol Hill. We like it for Monday night paella too.
This was a second meal in 2 years at Terra Platta. Last time we sat on the roof in the summer. Lovely evening and just two people.
This time, 5 people inside celebrating a birthday on the Saturday after Valentines Day. It was very busy and the energy in the place felt rushed. That was likely cause it was a busy Saturday but as a party of 5 ordering 4 courses 3-4 plates per course, at table for 5, with not a ton of space for multiple shared plates, it felt rushed. We didn't have much time to linger over our various dishes before the kitchen was rushing out another plate and we needed to move along and finish what was on the table to make room for more. This may just be the way it is but we spent a tidy sum and it wasn't a very nicely paced evening. The dishes were sometimes described and sometimes not. Overall the food was very good, but again things were rushed and I am having a harder time recalling the standouts. By the end when the 3 main course dishes arrived we could finally slow down. There were a few stars: The chips, the scallops, the tuna, the pork, the hanger steak, the beat salad, were all very good and well prepared. The broccolini was a little too salty, the risotto was not particularly memorable, the escebe was a boring. The mussels were tasty but would have been better with some bread to mop up the sauce. Our reservation was at 8:00 and we left at 11:00. We finished with a dessert course. It just wasn't particularly memorable and for a birthday dinner that was a disappointment. Would return in the summer for another rooftop smaller dinning experience. Not sure this is the place for a larger party.
Always a great time - we had the brussels sprouts, potato chips, blistered peppers, risotto and churros. We left very satisfied and our server Jeremy was fantastic. If you haven’t been, just go.
Great locally sourced food and ambiance. We had a ball and loved the small plates. The place is abuzz and we had fun. The fish was divine.
Service and ambiance were great! We loved the gratín appetizer and the scallops. A wonderful place to share a bottle of wine and a lovely meal. Thank you!
I've enjoyed Terra Plata many times in the past, especially the rooftop dining in late summer. My husband and I celebrated our 32nd Valentine's Day at Terra Plata last night; it was not up to par. Please see my remarks to the restaurant only.
Had reservations at 6. We were seated on time, but our drink order wasn’t taken for 15 minutes. The menu wasn’t released ahead of time, and my wife who is a vegetarian had a difficult time finding anything to eat on the limited menu. Throughout the night, we had around 4 different people help us out throughout the night who were asking us the same questions (we were asked if we want any more drinks after someone had just went to retrieve the check).
Valentine’s Day date night
Tight seating. Food was ok, but not stellar. God local and seasonal food; however, our experience was less than anticipated, especially for the price. Maybe Valentine's day is not the best day to be there. Felt overpriced for very tiny portions and the quality we got at our dinner
Tight seating. Highly recommend just sitting at the bar, that way you don't feel like you're sharing a table... or maybe literally are sharing a table. Otherwise great place. Really good food, convenient walk to downtown or Paramount Theater if you're seeing a show.
Food was great! It felt personalized and my wife and I felt catered!
Food was exquisite like always, great service and nice ambiance. Highly recommend the duck and the Brussels sprouts.
Terra Plata has a great cozy atmosphere, interesting wine selection, amazing service, along with good food.
Awesome food! Brussel sprouts were best we've had. Personalize menu for my birthday! Great service too!
We were on a double date and shared all of the food we ordered. It was all wonderful and we enjoyed the food and ambiance so much. We will come back again and recommend this place for sure!
Wonderful food and service.
Came here before a show at Paramount. Everything about our experience was top notch. I love this restaurant!
First server was very annoyed/aloof when I questioned about the goat cheeses listed on just about every entree. The second server was more friendly. Food was ok. Won't be back.
Monday is paella night and no other food on menu for mains. Waitress got our order wrong more than 4 times. Hair in food. Typically it’s a great experience here but not tonight.
We celebrated a birthday here and was surprised with the birthday girl's name on our menus!! What a special touch! With that said, everything about our meal and experience here was a delight. Service was very nice, not overbearing but attentive. The Brussel sprouts & ceviche were our favorites. The leek gratin was also very good. The churros were pretty amazing also!
Terra Plata made my husband’s B’day special by printing a menu with his name and date on it. They also ensured that a nice table was reserved for us. Food was great and so was the service. Seattle rain drop made my day. Overall a great place to celebrate any occasion. Loved it!
Wife’s birthday dinner was amazing.
Celebrating new job with a dear friend!
Loved selection and diversity for all vegan to carnivore in our group
They were wonderful, and went above and beyond
Went to celebrate a birthday and the personalized menu was a nice touch. Menu was more ltd than I remembered but everyone raved about their dinner.
I genuinely recommend Terra Plata for any birthday or large group. The staff and experience were overall amazing. Friendly, helpful and flexible. Food was wonderful, especially dessert.
Marvelous food and our server was spectacular! She made us feel like we were in her home!!
They went above and beyond to make sure our 18 month old was well taken care of. Best service I’ve had in a while.
Good local and seasonal food, at a somewhat-decent price. Slow (but polite) service even with the restaurant not full.
So delicious! We tried quite an array of starters and small plates and found them all to be very tasty - standouts for me were the carrots, the beets, the shishito peppers, and the cheese plate. We tried two desserts as well - the creme brûlée and the apple concoction. Very good, but the veggie dishes are the stars here! They have entrees available, too, but we were too full to try any of those. Next time!
Service, food, ambiance - all 5 star! We tried the shishito peppers, the ceviche, brussel sprouts, and the ribeye. And the extra attention paid to the fact that it was a birthday dinner was much appreciated. Can't wait to go back and try the rooftop dining - and paella night.
Lovely day place and will definitely go back. But definitely loud. I might wait until summer when we can dine on the rooftop.
We had a lovely time at Terra Plata and it certainly met our expectations. The thoughtful service was greatly appreciated- no detail went unnoticed. Thank you for a fantastic dinner! Ps - those potato chips are ridiculously good.
Though our server misheard my order BECAUSE of the noise level (my friend ordered the meat/steak meal, and when I said salmon, she thought I said "same" & brought me the meat order as well), when I finally DID get my salmon, it was absolutely melt in your mouth tender, with little to no fishiness!
Overall service, meals, dessert was quite loverly!
SELECTIONS LIMITED---ROAST PIG VERY GOOD--SHIMP NOT SO GOOD
Amazing food, lovely & fun staff, great vibe. Would definitely come back!
Excelent food and service! A fun place to celebrate New year's. The staff were so attentive and made us feel like family. We even roasted the new year with complimentary champagne on their rooftop bar!
Chef Tamara is my favorite Seattle currently working Chef.
She never disappoints.
The good news is that most of the food we ordered was very tasty.
However, our experience was less than anticipated, especially for the price. Perhaps NYE was the wrong time to try Terra Plata. Despite indicating that we did not have any show to attend, we felt oddly rushed. Food came to the table in awkward spurts, servers, while friendly, seemed very harried and didn't have the band width to pay close attention to requests.
Sadly, while desserts were delicious, the coffee was tepid and an order of port was never served.
Not sure if we'll return as it was a very pricey outing.
Excellent food. Great service from whole staff. Always a nice night out!
