   The service was poor in-fact worst experience in Vail for the Number 1 rated restaurant. We saved the best for last or so we thought. Our table wasn’t ready and yet we booked it over a week ago 🤷🏻‍♂️. Our food was super slow. We waited for soup and salad for almost an hour and inquired where it was and why it was taking so long our server replied the staff are tired from a long season 🙄🤦‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️when our appetizers finally arrived we also received our mains and said we have no room nor do we want them now we waited this long we want to eat not rushed or not enjoyed. This shouldn’t have been a request but the number 1 restaurant in value should know how to deliver good proper service. We pointed this out to our server and nothing was addressed or done. We had a long extension cord that we kept being bothered as we weren’t ordering cook your own food it wasn’t needed and our server just when we complained said be careful but all the other tables didn’t have this issue. Service was poor at best and disappointing from the number 1 rated restaurant in vail. We had better service from every other place tried from sweet Basil to red lion to mukktuk to bully ranch in the same hotel was way better service food and experience very disappointing not sure if any of us would come back!

   We are Europeans so we know the real raclette and fondue experience. The Swiss Chalet is a good version of that, even though not the best, the cheese could be more in quantity snd the veggies a better choice (onions snd peppers were not the most sophisticated veggies) The schnitzel was Ok. Service was very good, we enjoyed tye mountain atmosphere

    Swiss Chalet is awesome. We always make a reservation whenever we are in Vail/Beaver Creek. Spencer was our server and he was outstanding.

    The food really was not very good. We had fondue and Wiener schnitzel. Having lived in Zurich for 5 years we know Swiss food well. The fondue was too thick, had little kirsch and was not the right blend of cheeses. Key to a good fondue is the bread which in this case was just wrong. The schnitzel batter wasn’t light or crisp enough. Anyway, fun night but I’d say the food was poor.

    We had a very poor experience last night. The restaurant was pretty empty but they placed us in a corner table, away from the main dining area. Very strange placement! Also, it is advertised online that you add a nominal fee if you decide to share the fondue, but we discovered when seeing the menu in person that there is a $35 fee to share on a $70 dinner. (Cheese fondue, with no meat!) You need to be ready to eat a lot-waiter really pushed ordering an astronomical amount of food that we would never have been able to eat!! Won’t be back.

    Mediocre at best! Way overpriced and the fondue pot barely got hot enough to fully cook the meat. Then the vegetables were on same plate with raw meat which is completely unsanitary and we were not offered the grill option to cook the vegetables, like I saw at other tables. we tried to cook them in the fondue pot and what a waste. Wouldn’t go back!

    The Swiss chalet has been consistent for great food and interesting selections for generations! We always love the Raclette Matterhorn, and the chocolate fondue for dessert!

    This was a fun and unique dining experience. Demmi was our waitress and did an incredible job. She was VERY busy with a couple of very large groups plus several other smaller parties. But, she handled everything flawlessly. The food was delicious and we were grateful they could accommodate gluten free. Our table was right inside the door so we were a bit cold - I wish we would’ve been further inside the restaurant. But, overall, we had a memorable evening!

    Our daughter and son in law, who had lived, worked and met in Vail, gave us a gift certificate for our visit to Vail. This was one of their special spots for dinner and now we know why. From food to service to ambiance, everything was excellent. The cheese fondue and everything that goes with it were delicious and our server was very helpful and friendly. We could not have been more pleased with the whole experience.

    Every time I come to Vail I eat at Swiss Chalet because it is just that awesome. The food, ambiance, food, wine, food, and service are all the BEST! Can't wait till next time!

    The service was excellent. Our server, Nick, was courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable about the dishes and wine. His service added to the dining experience. The food was also excellent- salmon, veal, and Apple strudel for dessert. Will return again!

    The waiter was supposed to give a “ speech” of the menu items and ingredients. We realized we did not get it when the neighboring table got a speech from their waitress. At the end of the meal we ask what are the dessert items and asked for the menu. The waiter said two items and one was chocolate fondue, and we ordered it. He never mentioned about hazelnuts in the chocolate nor did he give us the menu. My son is acutely allergic to Hazelnut, after his first bite, he started reacting and I had to give him medication. When called upon the manager, he challenged us saying we were given the “speech” and should have known, and the waiter comes and confirms that he did not give the speech. For good 15 mins the manager and waiter argued with us.. even to the extent saying that there might have “hazelnuts” in the Sausage we ate. Utterly disappointed in the customer service and service.

    Waited 15 min after our reservation time for our table which is normally not a big deal except when they specify a 10 min grace period for the reservation. I guess that only goes one way? Service otherwise was quite good. Pretzel bread was fresh although the black salt infused butter that goes with it was almost inedibly salty. I had to scrape the butter back off the bread to eat it. Got the argula salad to start which was excellent. Then followed that with the 2 cheese fondues with beef medallion add on an it was a disappointment. The fondues both had a strong alcohol flavor which I’m normally okay with but I found these to be overwhelming. The beef comes much rarer than I would like and you aren’t give a choice how it is cooked. We tried leaving it in the fondue and even 10 minutes of soaking in the cheese did not really cook it through. On the other hand the vegetables that come with were good. Final damage was $80/person with tip which I would be okay with if the meal was amazing. This wasn’t.

    Revisited because we ate at Swiss Chalet 10 years ago the night my hubby proposed. It was wonderful again—our server Demi made the experience. She was warm, humorous, knowledgeable, and just fun. We had a lovely time. Be aware Swiss Chalet isn’t the most quiet, intimate venue—what is very much a special occasion level place for us is just a casual family dinner spot for many who can afford Vail. We had lots of little kiddos around us. But we didn’t mind because it highlighted that we were not responsible for cutting up anyone’s food 😂 (ours were with grandma for the night haha).
