Souvlaki GR Midtown
great food (review coming from a Greek)! kinda pricy though! definitely worth trying!
The hostess was very rude. They packed the restaurant with way too many tables. There is hardly room too move between tables. We left due to the rude treatment by the hostess and went to another restaurant.
Great place for authentic Greek food! Very small restaurant-would not recommend for large parties
Loud but energetic atmosphere. Perfect for small parties.
The best Greek food in nyc! Went with our two young kids while visiting the city and will definitely be returning again!
Do not go there with children. They tried to sit me, my wife and my daughter at a table for two, with high chair being placed in the way of the entrance and were every water would have carried food over my daughter’s head. There was an empty table for 4 two tables away and the staff refused to offer this instead. Given the conditions, we had to leave and find food elsewhere. The worst part was the extreme arrogance of the front of the house that was thought that this was perfectly safe and comfortable.
love it here! all locations, all the time! super authentic - love their 2 trucks too.
Great food, great service, very small tables very close together
Souvlaki GR never dissapoints. Delicious food in a nice atmosphere.
We found this place close by the theater before going to see a show and we were glad we did! It’s a very cute place and the food is very good. We were really hungry when we got there and after getting a dip with pita and another appetizer we were almost full already before our meals even came. Couldn’t finish all the food between two of us, but it was delicious!
The place is crowded and noisy, however food is excellent.
Souvlaki GR is great for lunch, apps and drinks, or a light dinner (amazing tapas-style greek food!)
Souvlaki GR is my reliable place when in midtown. The pitas are my crack. So good can’t stop eating them! I was with two friend before a show we had the 3 dips with pita a Greek salad the grilled octopus and Patizzo. Not a crumb left on a plate. As always fabulous food. My only thing I tell people before we go is about how tight the space is. But everyone’s bring there never says anything side the food is that good
One of the best Greek places in town. Their salad with feta cheese original taste of cucumbers and tomatoes as in Europe. Lamb chops are succulent.
Great Greek food in midtown. Place is adorable. Looks like Mykonod only issue is tables are very close together
We are from the UK and spent 6 nights in New York. We visited here on our last night and it was BY FAR the best meal I ate and left me longing for more! I had the shrimp souvlaki pitta with feta, Greek fries and halloumi. The setting and staff were also lovely which made it a really special night. Thank you!
Great food but reservations definitely needed if you don't want to wait! The food is always delicious. The restaurant is always lively, a bit loud if you have anyone older in your group
Food is delicious, it was very crowded at dinnertime, 6pm, and space is very tight. Otherwise food is fantastic and service is very good. Convenient location.
Very authentic and delicious. It actually reminded me of my visit to Mykonos!
The staff was so so rude ...... the place was crammed, and they didn’t accommodate for my dietary restrictions. He basically said, these are two items in the menu you can eat. That’s it. It was not a good experience.
Food is always amazing and prices even better!
The service was excellent, food was ok. The noise level was unbelievable. It was too much that we took our dinner and left.
Good service and food
I love their food truck and have gotten take out from the restaurant before, but this was my first time eating in the restaurant. The tables are really close together, but that's okay--I loved the decor! Really looks like Greece in there. BUT, it was SUPER loud. I was with a soft-spoken lunch partner, which made it extremely challenging to have a conversation. I would have to ask her to repeat herself sometimes 3+ times. So, it was awkward. I'd definitely recommend the food, but depending on who you're going with, you may not want to eat in.
The food here is always amazing and it usually makes up for the absolutely terrible service.
We love this place. Great ambiance and delivery. High quality ingredients. Awesome waiters aiming to provide authentic experience. Where in the city can you get 6 lamb chops for $22???????!!!!!!
Very good but too tight. Tables are tiny and on top of each other. No room at all. Solid food and attentive service. If you don’t mind being crammed together, then it is fine
I felt I was in Greece for lunch!
This is hands down one of my favorite Greek restaurants of all time! Being Greek myself, of course, I have to compare any food from a Greek restaurant to my Mom's. Well, let me tell you the food tastes like my Mom is the chef. It is outstanding! No matter what you get you will not be disappointed. I come to NY a few times a year and make it a point to come to eat at Souvlaki GR.
This was my first time at Souvlaki with my boyfriend and the lamb chops were amazing! This spot has a great ambiance!!! Would recommend to everyone.
My boyfriend and I needed a dinner that would get us to City Center for a Show by 8. We made a 645 reservation. The place was packed but we were quickly seated but it looked like the servers were a bit overwhelmed. We split the grilled octopus appetizer (delicious) and had the checker skewer (small serving but absolutely delicious and flavorful) and the 1/2 kilo of lamb chops (good handheld portions). Tzatsiki sauce with pita also delicious. We made it to City Center by 730. Good thing we made reservations as many walk ins wouldn’t be accommodated.
Delicious food - great neighborhood place - very much enjoy it
Waitresses are a bit abrupt. No legroom at tables- very tight fit.
I loved everything about this restaurant. The service was great and the food came out quickly. We split a meat platter and a Greek salad. It was delicious and the perfect amount of food. I will definitely come back to Souvlaki GR Midtown the next time I am in NYC
My only complaint the Air Conditioning was not working well the day we went . I need it to breath.
Would go back again after the summer in Oct or Nov or even March or April.
