With two floors and two bars there is plenty of room for happy hour after work, business lunches, group dinners, and special events. Come enjoy dinner with the family, the big game with friends, or many of Philadelphia's annual promotions.
The service was great. There were plenty of beers on tap to choose from and the descriptions were spot on. The cheese steak egg rolls were the best I’ve ever had. The buffalo chicken sandwich and the burger were both terrific. I can’t wait to go back!
We love it here. Food is great and staff is very friendly.
We came in for dinner with another couple and our kids with a party of nine on this past New Years Eve. Our server continually brought us the wrong beer and kept telling us it was correct after waiting almost 20 minutes for our first round of drinks. The food was decent although one person in our party got sick later that night from an under cooked hamburger. Overall very disappointed considering we were there last year for NYE and had a greet experience. Most likely won’t go back
Maybe an off night. Staff was really stressed and backed up. Good was good. Wait was just off and the stress really carried
The food is consistently very good. Brussel sprouts cooked and flavored to perfection. the variety of the choices on the menu is great even for your pickiest friends or kids. favorites are the barbecue and best turkey burger in the city.
We went for brunch during Christmas season. The food and drinks were outstanding! The wait staff was attentive and friendly.
Our experience was excellent. Family friendly. Excellent service. Fantastic comfort food.
This is the second time we ate at Smokin’ Betty’s. Our experience was lackluster starting at the front of house. The hostess was not present and when they were they proceeded to seat walk-ins prior to us with a reservation. Then it took awhile for our food to come out, which is okay, however our last entree was delivered an hour after our first entree was placed on the table. On top of that, we had food that was cold. When it was sent back to kitchen, we received another only for it to be cold as well. We hear the food is good, however our experience proved otherwise.
Unfortunately the restaurant was out of a lot of items including the Reuben egg rolls & reisling? But the cheesesteak egg rolls were delicious! My husband ate the Turk something & loved it, my salad was okay but will definitely try a bbq dish next time. I would recommend for a quick bite or dinner.
Tried the risotto. Excellent!!
Waitress was outstanding. Checked on us just at the right times.
Pricing for all the menu items was very fair.
Nice, relaxed atmosphere.
We have eaten here on several occasions before our plays at the Walnut Street Theater. On this occasion, whoever ordered the eggs at our table, they were cold and the bacon was cold as well. The only thing not cold were the potatoes. Very disappointed this time.
I had booked a large party for a birthday. The waitress did tell us she was new, so I can’t blame her totally but she didn’t know much about the menu options. The food came out very slow and separated so by the time we all had food, most was cold. When we finished the meal and after asking 3 times, we finally got the toast that was part of our meal.
We finished with a piece of cake for my mom and they didn’t have candles (even though we booked for a birthday) so we ran down the street to get some for the cake and gave the rest of the pack to the restaurant.
The food was amazing. Good portion size. We were seated very quickly, our bartender was very helpful in giving us some recommendations. He was also super attentive. I will definitely be going back
Our time there was terrible. The owner was extremely rude the entire time. We ended up not eating. I hate to say it, but it seemed like she was giving all the patrons of color a hard time. She turned a group of POCS away. She told us our table was ready then told us we couldn’t sit down. It was not a good experience at all. Sad to say because we were looking forward to enjoying the food.
I would absolutely recommend this place! The brisket sandwich was delicious. My only critique would be this: if you're a server and your restaurant is out of certain dishes, don't proceed to gripe to me about management. I'm totally understanding when it comes food running out (it happens), but don't complain about management. Just apologize and move on.
Did not honor our reservation. Turned us away 15 minutes after we arrived.
Was seated at a table. Waited 20 minutes for our drink order to be taken and to get a coke and a lemonade . Then ordered cheesesteak egg rolls for an app. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and my boyfriend ordered a grilled cheese. We waited for two hours before we finally left without getting our food. We’ve been here before and loved everything about it but this was a horrible experience.
First I want to say that John, the bartender, was awesome & amazing to us. Here’s how our time at this restaurant played out. We had 6:15 reservations. We arrived early at 5:45. I checked in and told the hostess that we would be in the bar until our table opened up. At 6:15 there were 3 tables open in the bar room. I went out to the hostess station to see where we were with our table. Three other couples were around the hostess station. One couple behind me went and took one of the tables in the bar. I asked the hostess where we were with our table stating to her that we have been here for 30 minutes and this couple behind me just walked in and took a table. That’s when and older blonde women chimed in who works there. She’s snaps at me “what’s the problem here?” I told her about the tables in the bar, people coming in and grabbing an empty table etc. she snaps at me again “what do you want a table in the bar or upstairs?” I said I just want a table. She walks into the bar area and says “how’s this”. I replied that it’s dirty. She’s snaps at me again “if you just give me a minute!” And she walks away from me. I’m literally standing in the middle of the bar room. I then walk towards and said I want to explain the series of events that have taken place prior to you intervening. She says “ I don’t have time to talk, I’m busy” and walks away from me and sets the table. I couldn’t believe this was happening. We sat down. John the bartender came over and heard what had happened and was very apologetic. Later on, our appetizer came and guess who brought it? Yep, the nasty older blonde lady. All I thought of was I’m going to be eating her DNA. She puts the app on the table and says the table is wobbly and I’ll be right back. I told her no. She says I’ll just get a wedge to put under. I said to her, please no. Now, I do not know if the tables are up for grabs in the bar. I am not a mean nasty rude person. But I sure got that from that lady
The service is awful. The servers don’t know the menus, and complain that the bartenders yell at them. The food is well made, but the establishment needs a manager badly.
It was unfortunate. We had reservations for 630. They said they didn’t have a table but should have one shortly. Waited for 25 minutes. Had a show to go to at 8 PM. Could not wait any longer. Left and ate at bar next-door.By the way the bar next-door was very good.
Heather was great! The food delicious and the beer exceptional!
Love this place. Sweet potato fries are amazing! Pork bbq is consistently great.
Came for a late lunch. Betty Burger was delicious. Server was gracious enough to allow a side salad in place of fries, and was attentive checking back with us often. We’d like to stop back but for dinner next time.
Used to be great bbq with a great tap list. Now there is a tiny little bbq section of the menu and I had the bbq sampler which included incredible chewy riblets and dry corn muffins. The waitress was sweet but it took an hour after we ordered to get our food and they never brought the 2nd drinks we ordered since we were waiting so long.
The food was good, but seemed a bit overpriced. The online menu is incorrect so we actually got less food than advertised for the same price. The service was very poor. It took much longer than necessary to get seated, no drink refills were offered, forgetting to bring out menu items (like bread), I observed multiple tables turn away their plates due to the food being incorrect. The restaurant was also out of several items and we were not aware of this until we ordered. Overall, this restaurant seemed incredibly unprepared and disorganized to serve their customers on Thanksgiving, and they were not even very busy.
Our waitress really wasn’t supported by staff. No management came around to check on our experience and the waitress had no one helping her for a 9 person party which caused half of us to receive the first course and wait about 10 minutes for the other half to come in. Our waters never refilled. It was really we felt management was very absent in running the staff. Once we said something to waitress she did get more help. the food was very good and it was a nice experience.
We were very comfortable and not rushed. The staff was amazing. Food was excellent.
Great food! Better service
Good food local bar and eatery. Priced right
Found the noise level to by totally moderate. I mean, people are going to be talking - it isn’t a library, it’s a restaurant! The burgers are out of this world and are presented in a very fun manner!
The wait staff was definitely short handed. It took a good amount of time to be assigned a server. Not the waitresses fault for that, and she ended up being very good, however it was pretty annoying having to wait some
time for someone to greet us and take our order.
Our favorite food item was the brussel sprout starter. It was very delicious.
Whatever you do, make sure you get the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. Anything else, you’re kidding yourself.
Terrible service/business. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation time and were told that they had a lot of reservations and no tables available, so we could sit at the bar or go to another restaurant if we wanted. I had to ask specific questions in order to clarify that indeed the hostess understood that we had a reservation but that it was not being honored because there were too many other reservations. Will not go back here!
Food was ok, cheesesteak egg rolls seemed to be microwaved. The riblets were good and the sauce had a good flavor. We had a table of 7. Only 6 dinners were brought to the table. 30 mins later the 7th dinner was served. The server was no where to be found during this wait. The food was obviously microwaved, the steak was tough and flavorless. Won’t go back and don’t recommend wasting your money or time.
Other than the fact that the ladies room was disgusting everything was wonderful. Great service and great food.
Smokin' Betty's was awesome! From the atmosphere with the brick walls to the servers with their smiling faces to the food - I can't wait to go back! We were a party of 4. The food choices looked so appetizing, we couldn't decide on one. So we all ordered a different brunch item and shared with each other. We loved all 4 dishes - the mascarpone bread pudding french toast with bananas and caramel, the country gravy with biscuits, the Betty's breakfast, and the huevos rancheros all were delicious! We will definitely be back for seconds!!
Excellent service. Food was ver good. I had a group with me and they really enjoyed being at the restaurant
Had a 5:45 reservation, at 6:15 I still couldn’t get the hostess to acknowledge I was there and there was a full line of people waiting on tables. Hostess did not address the diners or say a word to us and did not seem to have any urgency in resolving the situation. Ended up leaving the restaurant after the 30 minute wait with no word.
The hostess station was not well managed. The hostess was fixated on managing a missing food order over managing new patrons.
Good was good. Good size portions. The restaurant was uncomfortably cold; ate meal with coat on! Make a reservation because the restaurant filled up quickly beginning at 5:30.
