The meals consist of organic elements including grass-fed beef and pasture-raised, cage-free chickens. Local seafood options include wild Gulf shrimp, spicy Monterey squid and seared Ahi tuna, or visitors can take advantage of the raw seafood bar. Those looking for a vegetarian or vegan menu will find plenty of options available. The Slanted Door offers a family-style menu and a wide selection of desserts with an extensive bar menu to wash it all down.
Great place !!!! Great food !!! Great staff!!!
Awesome service, food, and cocktails. I live this place. Very nice to my friend for her birthday
I was not super impressed with Slanted Door. It has been much better in the past.
Our waitress was very attentive and the food was delicious. Asked for and then seated in a booth with a view of the bay. Overall great experience.
One of my favorite spots to eat and bring friends
Loved the food
Noisy place but overall good experience
Need to pay attention to what you ordered, as food arrives in waves and easy to miss something you ordered
I have been to Slanted Door many times but they seemed a bit "off" this visit. The chicken noodle soup had WAY too many noodles in it and it literally sucked up all the broth. I love my noodles so for me to even say this is very strange. Cut back on the noodles and offer hoisin and siracha sauce with the pho please.
There is a lot of “fluff” in this Nuevo Vietnamese restaurant. From the names of dishes to their presentations are geared towards the well heeled, but the tastes are just average. For my $80 per person for lunch without liquor, I can find better value elsewhere.
yup but not for conversation if you are with friends who you have not seen in awhile. too loud. buit if you sit by the wIndows off to the side and get there at 5:30.
The food was ok but the service was lackluster...I had the feeling the waitstaff would rather be anywhere but there. The Slanted Door used to be our “go-to” place to eat when we’d visit San Francisco but not so much anymore.
Always delicious food and amazing ambience- but things took a r-e-a-l-l-y long time for lunch: 1 hour and 45 minutes when we ordered quickly and not a lot of items? But we enjoyed it all- just didn’t leave us enough time to show off the rest of the Ferry building to visitors.
My best meal in San Francisco in the last 2 or 3 trips. Awesomely yummy! Clay Pot chicken was the BOMB!
Forgot one of our entries, brought it after all the others, was slow bringing our drinks
Everything was PERFECTION! The menu choices, the food was sublime when it came, the wait staff was helpful, quick and not hovering. Its a bit noisy but of happy people eating. And the bathroom is VERY clever! Unisex with someone to direct you to an empty stall. Wish you had a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc!! Those Imperial Crispy Rolls were just THE best.
The restaurant is just amazing...can’t say one negative thing about our visit! Our server Ned was outstanding. I wish we had a Slanted Door in Napa, Ca! I am ready to go back and try more!!!
Disappointing experience all around 2 vegan for lunch with no alcohol-over $100
We were in SF for s conf Used to live here. Good to see it is as good as ever.
Spectacular atmosphere and unbelievable flavor! Fun location!
Boring. Same old menu!! Need to change!!!
The scallops was not good
Too expensive fir what it is
Maybe I just didn't order the right things. Food was good but not special. Service was erratic, from solicitous/helpful to neglectful.
Great food with a close-up view of the Bay. The Slanted Door is always a treat.
Food is decent. They should have better air conditioning for what they are trying to sell. I would come back as the location is A+. Service was sporadic.
No air conditioning, very rude waitress, very slow at the bar for call drinks, it wasn’t worth $2000.00 the food wasn’t that different no one wants a two hour experience without AC. The waitress was rude!
Food and service were wonderful!
Was able to get in last -minute for a late bite. This is a favorite our ours when we are in SF. It never disappoints. Enjoyed the poke appetizer and the imperial rolls. We've never passed up the clay pot chicken - it's a must. Also enjoyed my ginger-vodka cocktail :-)
My wife and I have enjoyed Slanted Door many times. It never disappoints.
Good food, good service; usually like to make a pit stop there when visiting SF.
Good food, not great. Mediocre service with beautiful views. Cuisine is Vietnamese fusion rather than authentic Vietnamese. Prices are as expected for the location.
OK it's never 80 degrees in SF , that being the case our party was seated at table 44/1 at 6:15.
All good. The server Paul G asked if we wanted appetizers and I ordered for our party of four" sure" theres four on the menu send us one of each. He replied "That's an awful lot of rolls".
So we selected 2 and I wondered why I could not order all four!
The food is always awesome 'cause it's well thought out, recipes- executed well, that you would not experience at home.
Back to 80 degrees, the couple sitting at the windows became uncomfortable with the heat off the glass, so we rotated.
You wisely had the drapes drawn, smart---The drapes opposite table 44/1 are very badly stained with what
looks like red wine!!!!
Let's hope so!
Attention to details, Manager
It was less than appetizing to spend the remainder of my meal aware of the stains.

I enjoyed the food but was not impressed by the server. She spoke maybe 15 words to us, didn’t check up on the table once, and didn’t seem like she wanted to be serving us. For the food to be that expensive given the portions (and I work in fine dining so I’m familiar with pricing— is ferry building rent that high??) and then receive no attention from the server created a pretty abysmal experience. The attention that she did give us was again, short, and generally negative. I also saw a line cook waiting for the bathroom, which is off-putting— I don’t know of any upscale restaurants that let their BOH staff or serving staff use the guest bathrooms. The food was tasty enough (I really loved the goat cheese cheesecake) but again I don’t see how it can justify the price— especially for Vietnamese food, which can be fantastic for like $8. There was no information about sourcing on the dinner menu either, which could have justified the price, and since my server wasn’t around or particularly engaged I didn’t care to ask. I won’t be back. In a city with 4000 restaurants, I expect a much higher quality of service given the price point because you can find great food anywhere.
Once upon a time this place was awesome but it now is worse than dining in an airport terminal.
It is dated and needs a good cleaning.
It is overcrowded. A few decent tables/booths but mostly seating like a cramped cafeteria.
Worse, is just zero personal attention.
Hostess, not even a greeting. Waitress left us hanging around for a while then rushed our order. Cocktails didn’t even arrive until half way through the meal, after asking twice for them.
Dishes were randomly served by different staff. It definitely feels like premade food just thrown at us.
Chef/cook was standing in line for the bathroom and someone asked what his favorite dish is. He said he doesn’t even eat the food. Most employees didn’t seem that thrilled to be there.
This is not a fine dining experience. More like cafeteria. Which is fine, just not for the price.
Best thing this spot has going for it is the Bay Lights :)
Everything was delicious, but many dishes were very small for the price, like the $40 for the beef plate
Loved the atmosphere and vibe at Slanted Door. The service was excellent. Drinks were great, but the food was only so-so. We loved the Imperial Rolls on the appetizer menu. We will be back for apps and drinks but head elsewhere for our main course.
Its been awhile since I have been here. This time the food wasn’t as memorable as in the past. Our server was friendly but promised dishes didn’t come out together so couldn’t be paired. They also wanted to leave used utensils on the table instead of replacing them for the next course. Sloppy and unappealing. We had to request new ones. While tasty, not up to snuff given the price point.
Had not been here for a few years. Food was lackluster and expensive. Service pleasant but slow and did not get one of our entrees out until we were done eating. Instead of comping the late entree they threw in some free bok choy. Not a place I will return to.
always love this place because the food is so delicious and the service is GREAT!
Great view and food.
Lively but loud, not many Californian wines. C
Slanted door has been around long time and seems the restaurant has relied on their beginnings when they were the only pop stand in town with high quality food. No longer the case and other restaurants do food better and less expensive. Unless you want to go for nostalgia and like ghiradeli square landmark - skip it.
