Shaw's Crab House - Chicago
we had a lovely meal with great service. soup (seafood gumbo) was cold.
Always a favorite, very good selection at price points expected for quality. Service was exceptional from knowledgeable staff...for example found key lime pie was a bit mushy...staff removed item from bill without asking to do so...the way service should be: proactive, not reactive. Kudos to staff!
Outstanding service. Wonderful food!
They were about 20 minutes late in seating our party. It was so incredibly crowded and chaotic. When we finally were seated, they kept running out of certain foods so it was a lot of getting up and checking if the food you wanted had been replenished. It was Father’s Day weekend so I’m sure that was why it was extra chaotic, but it was to the point that it was unpleasant. Then, when the bill came, we learned that apparently, for special occasions and holidays, they jack up the price to $75 per head. The up-charge didn’t make any sense since literally the same foods were available and the experience was the worst we’ve ever had at Shaw’s. We’ve been coming to Shaw’s brunches for about a decade and it seems it’s time to look for other brunch alternatives.
Father’s Day Brunch....Excellent food and Service!!!
The check in process is a joke even with reservation. My family and I waited for 30 minutes before we can be seated. The host has no idea we have gotten the check in beeper until I double check with her and she said she didn't know we have everyone, which contradicts with the idea of handing out the beeper. If she thinks we are not ready, why would she hand out the beeper in the first place. That pretty much ruins the father's day brunch.
Great for Father’s Day Brunch!
Great food and atmosphere...me and my wife really enjoyed our first visit! 👌🏾
Great Father’s Day brunch. Great teamwork and very little waiting for trays to be refilled. This place is a well oiled machine. Thank you Jeanie!!
Me and my family love everything about Shaw’s Crab House. I added to the once a month family outing list.
Father’s Day brunch
Great experience... crème de la crème of a brunch!
Father’s Day brunch. Our favorite brunch place.
I brought my husband here for the Fathers Day Brunch. The food was underwhelming. But there were two things that made it the absolute pits. First while browsing through the oysters to choose which ones I wanted. I saw live parasites or worms on the oysters. I informed the worker behind the counter about it and which ones it was on. And he seemed as if it was WHATEVER. I kept pointing to him to let him know to take it down. He just grab one😒. You would think he would grab the whole platter. We decided to inform the patrons behind us to not touch that particular platter. Fast forward my husband placed his retainer on a saucer plate and stepped away, I was paying the bill and the bus boy picked up the saucer plate and took away the retainer throwing it in the garbage. I didn’t realize this until my husband came back asking where is his retainer..... the assistant general manager came took down my husbands information. Didn’t give out any other information or I should say was reluctant to give out any extra information. The assistant general managers name is Audi Moss. He finally handed out his business card after my husband questioned about how will he be informed of a follow up or him being able to contact corporate himself. As if just to believe that him writing his information on a scrap piece of paper was security enough for us to know that things will be handled correctly. And after all of that we still had to pay for our meal. So no not satisfied at all with Shaw’s.
Absolutely perfect... Everything about the experience.
It was fun to dine at such a wonderful and iconic restaurant in the heart of Chicago.
Food was excellent.
Service was below standard and did not meet expectations at all. They served main course before appetizers !!!. Just no finesse!
Great food, professional staff. Would recommend this place.
Great experience with our guests. We will definitely be back.
The food and waiter was top notch. Will be returning in the future.
This was our second visit to Shaws. The whole family was in town for my daughters graduation. We were even more impressed this time. We had the Saturday buffet and everyone couldn't stop talking about how good the food was. It was so much and our waiter Eric made it even more special with his 5 star service. Can't say enough about how wonderful this restaurant is. Hard to find ambiance, great food and top drawer service all in one place.
Took a dear friend for Shaw's weekend brunch. The first word that comes to mind is 'civil'. Everyone who was there was there for the food and quality time with friends and family. Conversations were brief and quiet while everyone enjoyed the almost-limitless offerings. Service is mainly done by the folks who are serving. Waitstaff assists with beverage delivery. Staff did a wonderful job of keeping spent plates cleared. There is truly something for everyone from savory to sweet including Shaw's famous king crab legs.
Shaw’s is a wonderful restaurant! Always an amazing time. Very consistent service and staff.
Great place, delicious food, at a reasonable price
Our server Anthony was great. He and and the rest of the team were very attentive and he made some great oyster recommendations based off of what we like. I would definitely go back my next time in Chicago.
Great service. Food was delicious. Loved the lobster bisque and the Santa Barbara stone crab.
We enjoyed all the dishes we tried. Our waitress was very attentive and pleasant.
Great food and service ...$$$ but worth
This is some of the greatest crab legs you will ever feast on! The price is steep, but if you have the funds to really enjoy yourself at this establishment, I suggest you go all out. My wife got the King Crab Legs and I had the Surf and Turf. We had a side of mashed potatoes (so good!) and each had a few drinks at the bar, which were exquisite. The staff was quick, friendly, and professional. Major props to our bartender in particular, who made us feel classy even though we had a bunch of bags in tow and sort of felt out of place.
This was our selection to celebrate my wife's defense of her thesis and we certainly feel that we celebrated as well as we could have! 5 out of 5, check it out! For your health!
The service and quality of food never changes. It is always a pleasure to go there for a meal. A special treat when in Chicago.
We had 7:30 appointment on a Tuesday evening. We arrived at 7:20 pm and were not seated until 8:10 PM. There were a lot of apologies and a claim that we would have a surprise to make up for the wait. It never happened!
The food was great. The waitress was wonderful. The prices are a little steep. We still had a good time.
Every time I come to Chicago I squeeze a meal in here
Been visiting Shaw’s Crab house for 20+ years when in downtown Chicago for business. Nothing has changed... great seafood and great service. The wait staff is great and just gets older, but some of the faces have been there 20+ years... that is why they offer consistent seafood and service.
Greg our server was fantastic. Food was excellent. Tables cold be a little larger and further apart.
Service was a bit unresponsive. We had to track down waiter more than once.
Also, the gumbo was not good - lacked the right seasoning.
Lastly, the overall decor and ambiance appeared dated.
As always Shaw's was a wonderful experience. Special kudos to our server Ruth, who took very good care of us.
The food is always delicious, delightful service and fabulous entertainment (Sunday night jazz band).
Amazing seafood -- there's no place else quite like it in these parts. Loved the blues musicians in the Oyster Bar!!
Food was high quality from start to finish. Professional service, boisterous atmosphere
