Great food, great service.
Delicious, inventive food. Service was friendly and professional... waitstaff very knowledgable about menu, preparation and ingredients. Everything memorable!
My husband and I went as a break from a long week. The food was fantastic and Michael our server made the meal even that much better with his recommendations.
The food was outstanding. Although it was pricey, it was well worth it. Raw diver scallops, savory donuts, fried duck leg, king crab, venison all highly recommended. Not too loud and a great experience sitting at the kitchen. Wonderful experience
We had a great experience at Serpico! Cool vibes and decor, the staff were all professional al, knowledgeable and friendly. The food was unique and delicious and seeing the open kitchen was a nice touch. Pricey but great experience, thoughtful dishes and a great drink menu Would love to return!
Great food, although I don't think it deserves the price it asks for the food you get. It's certainly unique and has interesting and bold flavors, but you could spend the same amount at many other great Philly restaurants and enjoy it much more.
Incredible server- Michael
Easily my favorite restaurant in Philadelphia. Adventurous without pretension or flashiness. And the service is friendly and enthusiastic without being overbearing. Second of two wonderful experiences. Will be back next time I'm in Philadelphia, for sure.
This was our second trip to Serpico and we were very impressed. I started with the potato and cucumber soup that was very good. My husband opted for the savory donuts which did not disappoint. We split a second course of chicken and snail lasagna that was delicious. Our entrees were pan seared halibut with a layer of savory carrot cake and the slow roasted venison. And the apple cake covered with caramel sauce with vanilla ice cream over shortbread crumbs and dehydrated apples for dessert was scrumptious. We will definitely return to this gem.
The food, the staff, the service, and a bunch of other things are all great. Awesome all around. We'll be back.
Delicious food - well balanced, great flavor. Ambiance was wonderful. Open kitchen which is my favorite: fun to sit at the chefs table if you like to watch everything get prepared. Cozy bar seating right when you walk in. Highly recommend
Really beautiful, creative, special cuisine. Chef Serpico came over to say hello which was such a nice touch to top a really exquisite meal.
Phenomenal staples and exciting new dishes that bring us back every time. THE most under appreciated restaurant in all of Philadelphia. Thanks Serpico team for another awesome dinner.
Loved it! I know why it’s been in Craig Laban’s top 25 restaurants in the city!
Truly exceptional dinner and fun atmosphere . Very inventive combinations that marry together well. Definitely worth a visit. Highly recommend.
Incredible food - unusual combinations, super creative, and incredibly tasty. Our service was attentive, informed, quick, and non-intrusive. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Great food, and awesome service. We sat at the chef’s counter which was tons fo fun (get to see the open kitchen). I recommend it!
A world class restaurant. Innovative ,tasteful, highest quality ingredients. One could eat better anywhere in the world.
Extremely pricey for very average food. I felt constantly rushed by the waitstaff even with a plethora of open tables around us.
We love this place! It’s amazing-probably our favorite foodie type place in the city. Simply, it’s Top quality food and service. The menu is interesting and fresh. We usually share several small plates and then each order an entree size plate as well. Everything is so appetizing that we usually try as many dishes as we can. Serpico is the place I take friends who I want to impress!
Serpico is outstanding in all ways: the environment, the vibe, service and excellent, creative cuisine. This has become our go-to restaurant when visiting family in Philadelphia. The food is exceptional; as good as any we've had in New York, if not better. Bravo!
Best restaurant out there in my opinion. Top notch.
Fantastic. No other words.
My reservation was for 9. They told me it would be be a 15min wait, and that turned into 2 hours. The food was ausome though
Entrees were cooked very well but some of the sides, like the salad that comes with the halibut, need to be re-thought. The unidentifiable leaves didn't taste good and were doused in vinegar. The halibut itself was cooked perfectly but the carrot "cake" it was served with was disappointing. We thought it would be latke-like but it is a thin layer of carrot puree with some other ingredients mixed in on top of the fish.
Other dishes were also cooked well but weren't accompanied by anything. The duck was cooked beautifully but had nothing with it. The donuts were interesting but $6 each for a two-bite piece of dough with some gravy is ridiculous.
The service was pushy. Just let people eat. It's not necessary to re-fill water glasses when they reach 3/4 full. It can wait until they are 1/4 full. The waiter also kept pouring a shared bottle of wine every time one person's glass was 1/2 full. It's not a secret that the goal is to get that bottle emptied so as to sell another. But it's obnoxious.
Seating was awful. There is nothing larger than a four top in the building so since there were five in our group, because not every person is a couple, two two-tops were pushed together with three on one side and two on the other. The middle person on the threesome side was squeezed in; dishes were on the "seam" between the two table which didn't match up evenly. It was an uncomfortable mess. Note to owner/manager: invest in a couple of round tables.
Lastly, the AC was on high - this on an evening which was about 20 degrees outside. We kept asking for the AC to be turned off but it would go back on after 5 - 10 minutes. Clearly once the place filled up the AC would be less noticeable but at 1/4 capacity it was just a cold wind blowing on cold diners.
Overall: the chef/s know how to cook meat and fish but it is over-priced and uncomfortable. A warm, comfortable restaurant with good, fairly-priced food would have be a better choice.
another good visit, server Nora was very attentive and knew the menu well
the duck leg is otherworldly
Amazing - start to finish. Sick open kitchen and elevated service. Will be back!
Vey imaginative food - combinations you would never think of. May ceviche appetizer was excellent and a beautifully presented dish, the Japanese eggplant was good but a little disappointing., we had mushroom noodles that were very good. For our main courses we had halibut which was superb and pork belly which I was not crazy about. The Apple Cake desert was fantastic.
That atmosphere is also unique. Open kitchen - if you elect to sit at the bar, there you have a front row seat to see the food being prepared. Tables are very close together which is the only drawback on the ambiance.
Our server was the perfect waitress - incredibly enthusiastic about the food, very helpful but not intrusive.
Food was delicious...especially the duck leg, the enoki mushrooms, the NY strip, and chocolate pudding dessert. Our server was also fantastic. Great service.
Tables were a little too close to other tables and they didn't have the bottle of wine we asked for that was listed on the menu.
Since Serpico landed at #9 on Philly’s 2018’s Top 50 restaurants, I thought it was time to revisit after a couple of years. Rating justified! It is a gem, sitting on a nondescript block of South St. Eating at the open kitchen counter, with the eponymous chef right in front of us, we could watch the seamless orchestration in an immaculate kitchen- a testament to quality control The food was superb. Highlights were the ceviche and venison. Interesting cocktail list, knowledgeable, friendly server and a cool room, even if you choose not to sit at counter. Peter Serpico is still there cooking and serving, keeping the standards high. He is not a conversationalist, but don’t hold it against him. Just let him cook!
This was my third time at Serpico and it was perfect, once again! For starters, we hit horrible traffic on our way to the restaurant, and were over 30 minutes late for our reservation. The staff was so nice and accommodating and still sat us as soon as we arrived. The food is innovative and delicious, and the cocktails are beautiful and unique. Great vibe, and romantic ambiance! Will be returning.
Great food and amazing service/friendly staff. Food was a bit overpriced for the very small dishes. But did taste great.
Our server, Michael, was a pleasure, as was all the staff. Even more, though, I always leave Serpico thinking the same thing: why don’t I come here more? The food is always DELICIOUS! Just an all-around great place.
We had a great experience at Serpico!
I wish I could give Serpico more than 5 stars! It is our go-to place for special occasions. The food always both creative and flawlessly prepared: we love the enoki mushrooms and the scallops and get them every time, but there are also always new, equally delicious, offerings. The wine list is excellent, and the atmosphere is elegant without being the least bit stuffy. The service is as warm and welcoming as one could possibly ask; everyone there is always so kind, and we love coming back.
Never disappointing. Service has always been outstanding. Menu is always inventive and dishes are excellent. Highly recommend a visit.
Overall my wife and I had a nice experience at Serpico. Service was fantastic, wine was terrific and the food overall was pretty good. The one exceptional entree we had was the halibut. Perfectly cooked and the savory carrot cake was really nice as well. Went on a weekday so it was quiet and the ambience was really nice.
Went here for my birthday. Food was interesting but in a great way! Loved everything we ordered!
Probably My favorite Philly restaurant right now! Everything is terrific! The food is so flavorful - nothing wasn’t absolutely delicious. And the service is just great. Our waiter was attentive but never hovered and very well versed on the menu and wine list. Can’t recommend this place enough!
Amazing food and cocktails. Every dish was mouthwatering. It’s pricey but I can’t wait to come back!
