About the restaurant
Down Home is a MICHELIN recommended farmhouse restaurant located in the beautiful country side of Grey Highlands. We welcome you to join us for an intimate evening exploring local producers, fall storage veggies, house ferments and foraged goods. Our ever-changing 10 course tasting menu changes with the offerings from our local farmers and the land. Our tasting menu is $175 per person.

As we move into the warmer months we will begin with our first course in the open fire kitchen and exploring the gardens, if its a warm night we will dine outside during the summer months. At times there is a communal table, please make a note if you would like to request a private table.

DIETARY REQUIREMENTS: As our menus follow the seasons we kindly ask that vegetarians and pescatarians join us in the months were vegetables are abundant.
We are NOT able to accommodate:
- vegetarian and vegan
- dairy free
- gluten free
- preferences (likes/dislikes)

About the restaurant
Reservations are open for dinner only, lunch is walk ins only.

What’s in the name you ask? We don’t really know, other than the fact that it has a good ring to it.

Nothing really about this place makes much sense. Are we a butcher shop or a restaurant? Are we a butcher shop inside of a restaurant? Or a restaurant inside of a butcher shop?

In our spare time we like to build fires and cook food over wood, you can hire us to do that. We make all of our own charcuterie in house, and we’re determined to get better at that everyday.

How do two concepts operate together in harmony? We don’t really know yet, but we will work at it ‘til it’s seamless. One thing we do know, all of the meat served and sold between these four walls is strictly derived from whole animals butchered in-house, sourced from happy places.

We came to experience one of the world’s best burgers and we were not disappointed. Worth the journey. The prime rib sandwich was also outstanding. Lively and friendly vibe. Highly recommend.

This is the hidden gem in Halton Hills Glen Tavern the most amazing restaurant the food is first class the flavors, the presentation, the menu selection, the drink selection. The cocktails are to die for and the service is first class. This is our go to place. The absolutely hands-down love this place.

I celebrated my birthday at 1 Kitchen for the second year in a row, and it still feels just as special.
