The food was absolutely delicious and fish was so fresh! The waiter was very friendly and attentive, making sure our water and tea were always filled. Glad we made a reservation because there’s limited seating and it can get full. Will definitely eat here again!

Sebastopol
About the restaurant
Koshō Restaurant at The Barlow is a modern Japanese and sushi restaurant in Sebastopol with a progressive focus on food, local ingredients, and sustainability. We utilize local purveyors for fresh produce and meats as well as national and international providers for fresh seafood and sushi grade fish. Koshō derives its moniker from the condiment of the same name, Yuzu Koshō. Known for its spicy, acidic and balanced nature, it appears throughout the menu in various forms; including Meyer lemon, grapefruit, and satsuma orange koshō. Our chef, Jake Rand, has traveled to many of the famous markets in Japan and has a vast knowledge of selecting top ingredients and the freshest fish and has over 20 years of experience preparing them.

Always excellent. Tried some new dishes hot à la carte, and they are great, such as tofu with mapo sauce.

I had this one on my list for quite some time and am so happy I finally got to experience it. I loved the food and felt that the value was very good for the quality and portion sizes of the food. The server was friendly and kind but the service felt a little bit disorganized to me. It took us about 15 minutes to be greeted after we sat and once we finally decided to ask a staff member for service, the server was pleasant but seemed very rushed. My husband and I had both ordered a drink, a roll, and the hot stone wagyu and because the table was tiny we asked to have our rolls first and then the wagyu so that everything could fit. We got our wagyu, then our drinks and then our rolls and nothing really fit on the table. I don’t fully blame the server though because it was pretty loud and cramped in the dining room in general. I loved the food and will absolutely be back but next time I would probably sit at one of the high top tables toward the front of the restaurant because when we were walking in and out of the place it seemed a lot quieter over there. Overall it was great but if you prefer a quiet spot I would recommend you order takeout from here.
