Great experience. We had a great time during the birthday dinner. The food was awesome. The service was very attentive and caring. Thanks for the wonderful experience.
Tasty but overpriced
Great option with the Prix Fixe. Service was fantastic and prompt. Would definitely take clients for lunch again.
Very loud. Too loud. Great service. Good food.
Excellent dining experience all around. Service, food, quality, ambience - it was my first time, and I will certainly return!
We shared the guacamole and the Wagyu beef fajitas, as well as each had one margarita. The Wagyu beef fajitas cost $22/ounce with a four ounce minimum. We shared 8 ounces. Between that and the guacamole, we were full. While very expensive, the Wagyu beef fajitas are well worth their price if you are a beef eater. My suggestion would be to undercook the beef. You can always put it back on the hot skillet to cook more. I highly recommend the beef fajitas. You will not be disappointed.
High quality dinner in a beautiful room
So delicious. 7 sauces to start, delicious tacos...Whatever you eat, don't miss the avocado dessert. it's heaven.
Delicious and interesting tacos. My favorite was the pastrami taco with sauerkraut and mustard seed salsa. The sleeper hit was the dessert. We tried both the avocado (lime flavored ice cream in the shape of an avocado) and the pineapple with bee pollen and chamomile ice cream. Great experience and I will definitely be returning!
Desserts were terrible which leaves a bad impression in your mind at the end of the meal. Lunch menu was good but not not great considering the price.
Food is excellent ! Good place for diner! However hostess make us wait 30 min to be seated with reservation and lot empty tables available on the dining floor She never mark on open table that we were there .
The location tells you all you need to know about it, overpriced and everything that comes with it. The tacos were delicious but the appetizer flavors were all over the place. There are much better options.
Delicious food, fun waitstaff, fun experience. Maybe a little more variety on the menu.
Food was good. The tacos specially the chanterelles was very flavorful.
We really enjoyed the food, however, the service was really not great which is unfortunate.
Superb and sophisticated Mexican cuisine delivered with very attentive service personel, including an amazingly knowledgeable table hostess. This is a Mexican restaurant on a par with the best French cuisine restaurants in New York. We went at 6PM on a Monday during Restaurant Week and it was packed with office workers, men in suits and women in dresses, who clearly had just left the office to have drinks. We were ushered upstairs to a table and placed our orders. Other than a noisy six person table seated next to us--which was neutralized by one of our guests moving to another place at our table--the whole ambience, service, and food were first rate and top drawer. Alas, this comes with "New York prices".
We explained dietary restrictions to our server including the fact that spicy foods can cause a reaction. She seemed knowledgeable and guided us toward foods likely to be OK. She told us that the Guacamole with Seven Salsas should be OK because we could just avoid the spicy salsas.
However, the guacamole was served to us with sliced jalapeños on top. They could easily have been omitted. Unfortunately we did not notice the thinly sliced peppers until we had already eaten some of the guacamole, and at that point it was already too late. This ruined the rest of our meal and we had to leave prematurely.
Very overpriced and small portions. The guacamole was delicious but costly
Empellon is one of my favorite restaurants in Midtown. The food is always exceptional and the service is very pleasant and efficient. Ana, who helps me with my group events, is wonderful. It is definitely a well-managed restaurant. Their avocado dessert is a work of art!
EXCELLENT service and food. A unique take on tacos. I loved my pastrami tacos and my wife loved her fish tacos. The shrimp appetizers, both of us, were great and dessert; mine, the chocolate ice cream sandwich and my wife’s custard tart were outstanding.
Good food but thought that it was overpriced
I was excited to eat at Empellon after reading some positive reviews. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the food... as I found it to be flavorless. The tacos had a very strong pungent taste. The fish taco was bland as was the cabbage salad. I love chocolate, however, this chocolate dessert had some strange and unappealing flavor added to it. The spicy cucumber margarita was the only thing I enjoyed. The bartenders were friendly and attentive. I'm sorry to say that I will not be returning.
Food was great, will for sure come back.
Great service, decor and food. Everyone had a great time. Will definitely be back. The tacos and desserts were delicious.
Overall a delicious and fun experience!! Will go back and recommend for sure!!
All delic it was a bday
Food is beautifully plated and good.
Desserts are also very interesting.
Food was excellent! Prix Fix was amazing.
Nice margarita and mezcal selection. Food was good, not great. Very noisy, not able to hear what the waiter was saying the majority of the time.
Guac - wayyy too salty, to accompany heavily salted chips.
Flatiron steak tacos - fat and gristle. undercooked soggy soft tortillas.
The noise level was terrible. Large party of ten roundly, loud ,drunk men . Appeared to be an office party. Should have separate room for such groups. As it is open space with open mezzanine balcony, everyone was inconvenienced. the location in the west Village was much more enjoyable.
Excllent food test & service
While the wait staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and the building beautiful, the food overall was attractively presented but mediocre in quality and selection was weak. Most disturbing though was the rock-concert level noise level which prevented anyone not screaming to have a conversation, due to the loft-like nature of this two-story open restaurant. Can’t recommend.
Very good. Guacamole and 7 salsas were awesome! The short ribs melted in your mouth. Very unique.
Great food, great vibe, quieter if upstairs. Enjoy
A lovely, tasteful large space with an inviting mezzanine. Clean and chic environment.
Nice staff. Not always easy to understand clearly (thick accents) some servers.
Interesting menu..could us a few more selections. The seven sauces were innovative and delicious....servings too small for a party of six.
Food a tad slow in coming. Prawn appetizer very skimpy and not worth the wait of price.
Soft shell tempura crabs were exquisite...a home run!
Music/ambient chatter a bit noisy up in the mezzanine....perhaps kill the recorded music upstairs and keep for the downstairs bar crowd and diners.
All in all a very nice experience. I will keep recommending for out of town guests. Keep the prices as low as possible.
Kudos to the staff and kitchen. The hostess is outstanding, always great to be greeted by her.
Always enjoy dinner at Emellon, the guacamole and 7 sauce salsa’s are always a must. Enjoyed some new items not he menu which were stupendous and a reason we always return there, i.e. continue creativity with solid mainstays on the menu. And of course the drinks are top notch. If the cherries are on the menu, order them, they were a hit and only available when in season.
Much too noisy. Tho a bit quieter upstairs
squash blossoms soup was good if a little bland. the chicken dish in prix fixe was salty and bland . The flan was very good. Service was rushed for no reason the place was not full. One colleague had her plate twice attempted to be removed before she was finished, and they succeeded the second time. Another colleague had his main course brought to table before he was even half way done with his soup, and they just pushed his soup aside to put down the main meal. Untrained staff over hyped bland food.
We had a fabulous evening. Very personable service and to die for Wagyu fajitas. They were great with our seafood allergy.
