Red Rooster Harlem
Food was lovely, flavors worked well. There is a major vibe in the place, it just buzzes. Small space but that gives it a strong community feel. Obama short ribs were truly amazing, tender and tasted like real meat should.
Nice place, good food with a twist on Southern meets gourmet. Very happy crowd.
Absolute perfection. Wait staff rushed our order as we advised we has tickets for the theater. Entire staff: from host, to server to bus service was beyond expectations. At one point I dropped my knife & didn’t wait a second before a staff person retrieved it & replaced it with a WARM one. Food didn’t taste rushed, over amazing way to start an evening. Can’t wait to return!
One of my favorite Harlem go-tos when I’m in town. Great ambiance. The cornbread is awesome!
Excellent for brunch. Really enjoyed the fried chicken and apple cider waffle. The breakfast slam was a nice sampling of everything I wanted to try. Would dine here again.
Absolutely love Red Rooster. Such a cool place to go for the vibe-- but the food is spectacular! Service is great, as well!
It depends. If youre looking for an intimate evening, it was too noisy. Otherwise it was excellent.
Great ambience. Food was delicious and well presented. Wish there were more vegetarian/vegan options. Service was great and greeter was attentive and cheerful.
Food was great! Staff was awesome ! If you stay in Harlem you must try!
Food was not good at all. I had the ribs and my friend had the whiting. The whiting was way too salty and the ribs were cold with no taste to my liking. The food was overpriced. $7 for a piece of cornbread. Please! I was very very disappointed. The service was good and the decor in the restaurant is beautiful. The wait staff kept coming to our table removing plates napkins that we were using. They bought us a wet napkin then took it before we even had a chance to use it. Give us a chance to finish will you. Anyway I have no need or desire to return.
Spectacular band on Mondays. Great dining. Very busy and fun.
My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary. We were seated immediately and our service began with our water glasses being filled. The service was lax not in a negative way but comforting and inviting way. They were busy and they didn’t make us feel like we needed to eat in a hurry so they could seat the next guest. The portions were ample and satisfying. The only critic is the alcohol content of the Red Rooster Punch. It’s served over ice and the pitchers include ice too too so, it seemed watered down. I’d definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends.
It’s a neighborhood institution at this point, and when the dish is good, it’s a wonderful experience. However, its not a comfortable meal under the best of circumstances. The bar service is terrible, clearly overwhelmed by the volume—a long-standing issue here. The food is wildly uneven, and some dishes are outright bad. There is chicken overkill, and a serious problem with getting food out on time. Food sits in the pass for unconscionable amounts of time under the heat lamps. And the desserts are best avoided. The addition of the live music later in the evening turns the noisy room into cacophony. You literally can’t hear the server or each other. Go for the institution, but moderate your expectations.
We loved the food!
Excellent and quick service.
Hostess staff were pleasant in their greetings.
Really nice vibe in the place!!
Very pricey and the hot honey bird was not hot or the best chicken I have ever had.
Amazing food, amazing service! Love love love
Celtmy grand son 21 birthday.
It was great. We had a reservation at 9 but got there early and Will and his counterpart were gracious enough to seat us right away.
Our waiter Has was also wonderful. Friendly and went over the top to make our experience a special one.
Food was good. Waitress seemed new and confused. Noisy restaurant due to Very loud music.
Everything was great the food was delicious and the staff was really hands on and professional. We did see Marcus Samuelsson for a brief minute. The only negative remark is the biscuits were hard and dry otherwise we really enjoyed our time there.
I liked the ambiance although the music was a little loud near the bar. I had a dry gin martini but it was served in a regular glass, and they had no olives. But it was still nice. Once we sat down to dinner we enjoyed a great meal together. I had the jerk chicken that was on a scallion cake. The jerk chicken was not spicy at all. I had to ask for hot sauce on the side. But I was really looking for a jerk chicken taste. Also I made my reservation through OpenTable, and I put that it was my mother's birthday, but they didn't do anything for her. I guess I shouldn't expect anything specific but OpenTable has that option so, I thought that's what it was there for.
A must visit in Harlem.
The food and ambiance at the Red Rooster was outstanding. The chicken and waffles were delicious with delicately spiced fried chicken and a warm blueberry half a waffle drizzled with the maple syrup. My only complaint was that no full size option as it was an appetizer with a small piece of chicken. My husband’s jerk chicken and my son’s Yardbird were also flavorful and seasoned just right. I will definitely be back on my next trip to New York City.
Hosted new business partners from North Carolina along with their friends from California. It was truly memorable! Marcus, his team, and the Monday live band - The Rakiem Walker Project - are changing the restaurant and entertainment game in Harlem.
Fantastic atmosphere. And with the band playing, it added a very nice touch. As always, food was good. Will go back, again.
The food at Red Rooster was delicious, with subtle but interesting variations on classic American backyard cooking to enjoy. It was not amazing, however, and for the prices one could easily find as much and more to enjoy at a Mom & Pop BBQ or Soul Food joint in the area. The service was lacking in hospitality and efficiency— from the brusque greeting the host offered upon arrival to the very slow, confused attention the waiter managed to pull together. All in all, who has said no to a plate of ribs, a bowl of creamy grits, or a skillet of mac and cheese? I just might recommend getting it somewhere where the company is warmer and the prices more amenable to the overall experience.
Everything tasted delicious and the service was extremely fast! I loved it!
We had splendid experience with a very nice friendly waiter who really helped make the evening special. As we were celebrating one of our daughter's 16th birthday the kitchen surprised her (and us) with a very nice birthday cake! All in all a wonderful evening and we are longing to come back!
Food was fantastic and the chicken is a go to choice. The only thing would be the service is not as professional as I would have liked. Servers saying "wahts up" to you when you ask a question..
Great fun and Great way to spend a rainy Labor Day.
Honey chicken was divine. Ambience was great. Service was awesome.
A lot of people hear about this place because of Marcus, but the thing that impresses me most is the community vibe of the restaurant. It doesn't matter if you want to come in and just listen to live music or have amazing food, you always feel welcome and you'll definitely have a great time! Thank you to the staff for a wonderful experience and for those still reading: yes this place definitely lives up to the hype! Make sure to reserve a table early ;)
Great food and such an amazing atmosphere. Wonderful Live music and an incredibly diverse crowd.
I enjoyed my dining experience. You need a reservation if you don't want to wait for a table because the cozy place is smaller than expected. The wait staff was nice and responded quickly to needs. I ordered the jerk chicken which was a very health portion but it didn't come with sides. The tilapia was tasty! If you are vegan you may want to pass. My friend ordered the cauliflower but it was just a large tough giant head that wasn't good.
The lively jazz band was awesome and the music enjoyable but you have to talk loudly to have a conversation. The atmosphere gets 5 stars and the food gets 4 stars.
big plate and big portion! loved obama short ribs.
Blown away by the experience the Ginny’s Supper Club and the Sing Harlem Choir. A must do for anyone visiting or looking for a moving Sunday event. Will be back.
Brunch domenicale per 4 ( con ragazzi) ottimo!
Food was amazing. Beyond amazing. I’m an eater and enjoy a good meal. This food is worth it
Terrible service. Food was meh.
