About this restaurant

Good for special occasions
Good for groups
Great for brunch

Italian restaurant chain Zizzi opened the doors of its very first branch in London's Chiswick in 1999. Now there are over 100 branches, all decorated in an appealing contemporary style. Wood-fired ovens, open kitchens and modern interior design with locally influenced art features make for a vibrant atmosphere. As for the food, they serve up a variety of traditional Italian dishes including all the usual suspects: salads, antipasti, pasta, pizza, calzone, risotto as well as fish and meat mains and desserts. What Zizzi really pride themselves on is sourcing good quality ingredients; salads are dressed with white balsamic vinegar from Modena, for example, and offer Goddess Olives, a variety known for their firm flesh and nutty flavour. The modestly priced wine list is dominated by Italian wines, starting at £13.45 for a Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. Chelmsford is the birthplace of radio, and this branch of Zizzi has been decorated accordingly - expect to dine amongst retro radio set inspired

Once again we enjoyed our food at Zizzi. The lunchtime 3-course set menu is good value too.

Our first visit to this restaurant and we were very impressed with our starters, mains and desserts. The staff were very friendly and helpful too. We will definitely use this restaurant again when in Chelmsford Bond Street area and we also intend to try a Zizzi restaurant somewhere else soon to compare.

Went to Zizzis in Chelmsford with my son and his girlfriend for my birthday - no complaints at all - food was very good, friendly service (waitress took loads of photos of my party!), reasonably priced and good atmosphere - recommend.

Always great service. Staff are very friendly. We do visit this restaurant a lot but this time the food was disappointing as the starter MUSHROOM BRINDISI was tepid / cold so had to send it back and the main meal Capia was decent but they forgot to add the 2 x extras. Also the bathroom facilities are starting to become shabby, dirty door marks and one of the men's toilets has the tap almost falling off the basin and the hand dryer does not work. It's lucky the staff and atmosphere overall make up for it slightly. But Zizi need to seriously think about an upgrade to this place to stop it falling way behind the high standards it's used to be known for.

Zizzi in Chelmsford is always a good place to eat. My friend and I had a great time and even though we dined at 4pm on a Saturday a lot of the tables were full. Food always great (recommend the Fonduza Formaggi but anything on the menu is good)! Highly recommend

Lovely meal at Zizzi, it was busy being the weekend before Valentine's Day but the staff were attentive and the atmosphere was relaxed. The food was perfect as always, took a bit of time to come out but at the end of the night the manager took 2 of our glasses of prosecco off of the bill to say sorry for the wait (we were expecting a bit slower service than usual being the time of year it was!) it was a lovely touch, totally undeserved as everyone was working really hard! Recommend 100%!
