   Yasu is the first omíkase so we were highly curious to try the chef’s choice of items. We were seated at a cosy table however if I had to do it again I would choose the counter as it felt like a completely different experience; this is why I was not enamored by the place. The sushi course was excellent. The other fifteen courses were ok nothing fantastic. Sushi is hard to prepare and lots of nuances but I did find for the hefty price tag this restaurant fell short in creativity and flair. I left with a belly full of rice and no aha moments. We will not dine there again as it’s too overpriced. They do an 18% service tax which again seems high for a small omikase restaurant. I would have preferred that they left it up to us to decide the tip.

   The best sushi I have had in Canada! Amazing Omakase experience. The chef/sushi masters were great and friendly. The only tinny improve would suggest is … the attitude/friendliness of a server… otherwise it would be perfect! Still, we had a great dinner! Thank you. Highly recommend Yasu.

    Top restaurant. The quality of the fish and the rice was fantastic. One of the best omakase I have tried! The staff was also very kind and dedicated. I was by myself but I felt very comfortable :).

    Have been trying to get in to Yasu for a while as it is a popular, small restaurant with just 2 tables and a chef's bar. Omasake is fantastic. I always find it is way more food than I can eat. They offer a small portion of rice which I opted. The dishes are amazing from start to finish (matcha ice cream...they kept the bowl in the fridge. Bonus point for attention to details). If they have a menu other than omasake, I am definitely going back. Like Alo's tasting menu, one can only go back so many times. That's just me. Fantastic meal. $500 with tip, no alcohol. Keep up the great work!

    Omakase experience is always one of a kind. Yasu provides quality ingredients for their customers. Although there are no other menus, it would’ve been nice to have the menu presented to you in the beginning of the course. Also, for customer that desires a “even bigger” seafood selection, adding another upgraded Omakase option can be helpful. I was told that Yasu was the very first Omakase in Toronto; however, there are definitely a number of restaurants that have surpassed this over the years. Overall, I enjoyed my meal.

    Yasu is a very special experience. We went as part of a wedding gift we received and opted to enjoy the paired sake tasting menu, which really added to the experience. The food was incredible and they have a lovely pacing overall.

    Definitely a splurge but it was the best sushi I've ever had in my life — no question. My personal top three from the night: 1. shirako: Creamy texture and a TON of flavour. It's a unique offering too, not found at most sushi places in Toronto. 2. hotate: I'm a sucker for scallop. Yusu's was on a different level. 3. lean bluefin tuna: Most people go for fatty, but lean had a nicer texture and flavour in my opinion. Honourable mentions goes to the lobster sushi with the refreshing yuzu sauce, and the delicious black sesame ice cream. Both of us also ordered the green tea (refills available) and the sake pairing. One of the two servers for the evening would bring out each bottle, share a bit about it and the history and pour our glasses. My favourite was the final sake since it had a strong yuzu flavour and was very refreshing. Although the space is small (about a dozen or so people at the counter, a larger table for 4-ish, and our table of 2), it was very lively and could get very loud at times. Tip: book EARLY. Reservations for any day opens exactly 7 days before. Booking for the next Friday, I checked what's available at 9 AM and all sushi counter seats were already booked (only tables left). However, that's not a bad thing! The table for 2 we got offered a very nice full-window seat at the front of the restaurant and got a decent view of the chefs preparing so you're not missing out. Also, a shout out to both the servers. They were very attentive all evening and provided helpful explanations on the sushi and sake.

    We arrived early and got to pick our seating at the bar, there’s 2 tables to seat those not at the bar but the best part is watching the chefs make each piece. We chose the Ume (plum) wine and it matched well with the sushi, fruity and sweet. The chefs would cater towards our needs offering to use less or more rice or wasabi. Each piece was done so meticulously I never asked for them to change a thing. They served milt sushi which is a delicacy in Japan. A lot of the sushi I’ve never tried before and I eat a lot of sushi. Very much worth the price for the taste of the food, ambiance, and service. This was my first and surely not my last Omakase experience and I’m very happy it got to be at Yasu.

    Food was amazing! One of the finest sushi places in Toronto. Service was fast and excellent. It was my second time and the last time was 5 years ago. I was impressed that they maintained the quality. My only negative comment was the smell! I don't know if their HVAC system was broken or what, but having a fine dining experience at that price shouldn't be combined with a heavy stench of fried fish! It certainly impacted the experience negatively!

    Wonderful contrasts in taste and texture of within each presentation. Rounding out the evening was a very nice invitation to sample more after the omakase completed. Elegant that the desert bowls were chilled to offer creamy black sesame ice-cream. Spectacular from start to finish.

    Because the majarity of waitress income comes from the drinks and alcohol, if you don't order the alcohol or other drink, the service attitute will become very badly. It would then force you order the drink. will not come again!
