We have come multiple times for brunch however this last time was rather disappointing. To start off, we got bottomless. I was the only one ID’d at our table which seemed a little rude considering we were all the same age. When asked why I was the only one, I was ignored by our server who seemed to be a manager. I understand that maybe I looked underage however, a good practice is to ask the whole table for ID. Next, we got the hummus platter which honestly was amazing. However, our main dishes were lackluster. We normally either get the omelet or egg roast however both seemed to not be as tasty and have a slight burnt taste to it. Next, as the meal goes on we had to repeatedly ask for a new carafe of the bottomless mimosa instead of normally being refilled promptly. It seems as though the low price of bottomless seems to be less lucrative for them due to an influx in customers. Towards the end of our meal, a family walks in and ask to be seated, to which our manager server yells “next time get a reservation” as they are walking out the door, which interrupted our conversation. Lastly, we ask for our final carafe of mimosa about 15 mins before they close. The manager server says “we are doing last call so I can only fill it up halfway”. Needless to say we were disappointed with our experience. Understandably, they could have been understaffed that day however, customer service at a restaurant is key not matter what position one is in. Whether or not we will return is up in the air however, I would strongly advise avoiding management to have a better experience.
VedaResponded 3 days agoWhom we ID is at our discretion. Your complaint about the food should have been brought up when the Manger came to check on how your experience was, which you never did. . You were served 4 rounds of Bottomless Mimosas before last call and you were served the correct amount of alcohol for the time period you were seated. The family that came in at 2:15 PM (after last seating) were walk-ins, not a reservation and the Manager stated this and never yelled. You certainly weren't ignored by anyone.

We got to Veda early so we’re able to take advantage of happy hour drink prices and a quiet atmosphere. The service was top notch, there were at least 4 people serving us, it seemed! We were happy with the unique spinach appetizer. It was a crispy spicy fried spinach, very crispy and irresistible. My chicken biryani came in an iron pot and was enough for 2 people. It was just spicy enough and very filling although I thought the chicken chunks were a bit over cooked. The environment is sharp and classy with walls painted a mustard yellow and a mural on one wall with Indian (Sanskrit?) script.

As a person with dietary restrictions, I was very appreciative of how clear the menu and staff are about food options in the context of limitations. The vegan food options were absolutely fabulous and the amount of gluten free options was really wonderful.

The food was not good. Everything was decent and there but not enough. Shouldn't be calling itself a modern Indian cuisine restaurant. No effort in food presentation. Taste was nothing to write home about. The palak chaat wasn't a chaat, more like fritters with some dahi thrown on it. The crispy bhindi was soggy and oily. The imli drink was good. But there were not many options.

The food was excellent, high quality Indian food we haven't had elsewhere. The menu descriptions turned out to be more ingredient list than items that would appear on the plate, but the chickpea and chicken dishes we ordered were very tasty, the rice was well cooked, and the garlic and herb naan very tasty. Our server was the bartender and he made a very nice mocktail and an unusual Thai iced tea/tamarind drink. Very reasonable prices for Philadelphia.

Cocktails were too sweet . Told the server but she didn’t care and told us the bar guy will need to taste it to confirm which surprised me. Got fish and Bhopali chicken. Both were tasteless with very less salt and more masala. Had very high expectations. Totally flop show on a very special occasion. Will not recommend.

I was so disappointed bc I had just been to lunch here a few months ago and food was delicious. Last night’s dinner was terrible. The sauces weren’t flavorful or spicy and the rice and Naan didn’t come out with the order…definitely will reconsider before making a reservation again. Drinks were on point. Hopefully this was just a one off experience.

Unfortunately, this restaurant didn't live up to our expectations. The starter was very disappointing, tasting burnt. We decided to play it safe and order one entree and try that before ordering something else. However, the chicken tikka was bland and the nan bread was more like a thick cracker; not the fluffy nan bread I've had from every other Indian restaurant. The noise level was too high and the music was very lively - it was trying to be more like a lively bar than an upscale Indian restaurant. The surroundings were lovely and the prices are reasonable for the location. However, I'd have difficulty recommending eatery to anyone.

Worst experience ! Restaurant’s staff harrased the whole party over the dinner. The manager & staff did not provide adequate info prior/before & during start of the reservation but in midway the staff came to the table and kept pressuring to order more to meet the minimum charge per person. The waiter was flaky, disrespectful & when we called the manager, he was condescending towards everyone. The whole experience was shady and would not recommend going there.

I was first introduced to Veda many years ago, when I met up for dinner with some friends from college. They had recommended it, and being that they are of Indian descent, I trusted their judgment. The food here is amazing! In a city with so many food options, especially in Center City, I would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for a nice night out and craving Indian food. The bread basket was a great starter. The entrees ordered included the salmon tandoori and the lamb vindaloo. Both entrees were delicious! The salmon was cooked perfectly, and the lamb was a 2 out of 5 for spiciness. Definitely manageable. My only downside to our meal was that we did have to wait about 30 mins for our entrees, and the restaurant was not crowded yet at this point. But aside from that, the food was great, our server was super personable and the atmosphere is especially great for either a date night or dinner out with friends!

Waiter was nice, and knowledgeable. Hostess was not good, I felt like just showing up and being there annoyed her. Food was overall greasy, not what we expected. Some parts were better than others. Food was excellent. Prices were fair. Service was pretty good except for the hostess stating a policy of not seating us until everyone arrived. So we waited in a communal lobby with no place to sit. Really lame.

Will and Laura are the absolute best. I have brought several different friend groups to this restaurant because of them. They are so attentive caring and personable they are hands-down the best servers I have ever had. We have so much fun and make the experience amazing and I cannot imagine any better person making this experience better. Between the bottomless mimosas and the food this restaurant is a hidden gem and Will and Laura make it that much better. Both are amazing and deserve the world!

The food and drinks at Veda are fantastic. Having never been before, my wife and I were open to suggestions because everything on the menu looked great. Our server, Laura, talked to us about what we like and made perfect recommendations. While the food is awesome, the surprise bonus was how great the cocktails were. Veda’s a great spot for a date but also has cool ambience for a big group of friends. We’re looking forward to coming back some day.

We sat at the bar and really enjoyed our entire experience. Will, the bartender, did an awesome job guiding us to exactly what we were looking for. His old fashioned and tequila/grapefruit drinks were top notch, and the food was delicious as usual. Will definitely be back, and we’re so happy we returned for this meal!
